  • The Baldwin SD-10 can be heard on countless recordings and it has a certain characteristic of letting the music shine without adding too much tonal coloring. In their prime, Baldwin pianos were widely considered one of the best American pianos one could buy, and maybe the only true rival to the New York Steinway. This instrument is all original with internal parts that remain in very fine condition as if the piano was seldom used. Many professional pianists and piano teachers call us asking if we have used Baldwin grand pianos for sale and we usually have to disappoint them. Equally rare are 9-foot concert grand models like this piano, by any manufacturer. Concert grand pianos like this one are not in high demand, but if you have a concert venue or church that needs one, nothing less will satisfy your piano needs.

I am buying an SD10 from 1978. It was a very difficult decision between this and a Mason & Hamlin A from 1915. Both are in great condition. In the end I went for the SD10 because of its unbeatable basses. Also, if I can fit a concert grand in my house, might as well go with a concert grand!

Hey Kathleen. I'm a concert level pianist and i've been looking at Baldwin SD10's for myself. Let's get in touch. I might be able to take it off your hands depending on your distance. Thanks.

I love the Baldwin sound! Ashokan Farewell was one of the first songs I played on my new (new to me) Baldwin L from 1990 (just delivered 2 weeks ago).

Ted, You are absolutely correct, I have been learning for 4 years and I am 80 years young and we have the Baldwin concert in our dayroom and I just love the sound and feel of this instrument.

This piano brings back good memories for me...it may be the first ever concert grand model I've ever played. Its ease of play compared to Steinway gives wonderful feedback that makes you play even better. Its sad that all those wonderful talented people at the Baldwin factory lost their jobs.

Great to see a Baldwin SD 10 appreciated . . . I bought my SD 10, (serial #189644) brand new around 1969/ 70 - it has been with me ever since! My piano technician died of 'Covid' and my piano needs some attention, I'm not having a easy time finding a good technician, too bad you're not out here in Los Angeles, CA.

Terrific sounding instrument and wonderful playing as well. Hard to beat a great Baldwin SD-10 or Baldwin SF-10.

You made my little tiny laptop speakers sound good... with the mid range to treble notes having a mellow resonance. I like. Thanks for the presentation.

I first discovered this fine concert grand off the vinyl recording Gordy and the SD-10. Since that time I have loved it's tone snd how it draws you into the music. Sounds great.

To my ears this piano has a very crisp and resonant sound notable in the midtones. I can hear every note being played without being confused by the harmonics or overwhelmed by the natural reverb of the harp and cabinet. I can see a good rendition of Bruce Hornsby's "The Range" being played the best on this Baldwin. I grew up playing Steinways, I love the full bodied rich tone of the Yamaha's and distinctive rumble of the Bosendorfs but have always cherished the few upright Baldwin's and upright grands that I have played occasionally.
