@@mm2clips792 It may be worth doing a factory reset and not transferring a backup during setup, in case some internal software misconfiguration is causing your issues. Of course, make sure to back up stuff elsewhere beforehand.
iOS 18 beta has been the worst beta experience ever for me. My phone just indexes itself (black screen with circle) every 10-20minutes and it drives me nuts
I made a backup using iOS 17. 1 hour later using iOS 18 I wanted to go back and there was a backup for iOS 18 that wiped out my old backup! Now I’m stucked here
@@donoban19 i fix it yes. Your iCloud account has an iOS17 backup saved. You just need to downgrade using your computer and then restoring the backup you made before iOS18

Always backup your device before upgrading to iOS 18. This will allow you to easily restore your device to its previous state (iOS 17) if necessary. Backups created after upgrading to iOS 18 won't work for restoring to iOS 17.
@@SIT3737 I updated shortly after watching Aaron's video. I'm still running the public beta, and it is definitely usable. However, it is also definitely glitchy. I have not noticed a major problem with the battery life or the device heating up. However, control panel keeps losing icons that I add to it. Mail app seems to randomly stop fetching new emails-works for a while and then it doesn't. A few other glitches like that that I've reported to Apple. However, it has some good features that are exciting to use like the new calendar reminders integration, and the changes to the Notes app are especially useful. Once they get the control panel and mail app fixed. It's going to be great 🙂
Did you put your iCloud photos settings as "Optimise iPhone Storage" or "Download and keep originals", I did not back up my iOS 17 software so I'm pretty screwed and want to retain my photos in any way possible. Also, how do you download the photos back onto your phone, I swear this is such a pain in the ass but deserved because I didn't back it up
so if we uncheck beta now it will go to public beta if we are on dev one... questions lets say ios 18 gets released to the public (not beta version) and we unlink from the beta will this install the latest version of ios 18 for us or keep us on beta until we use pc?
I followed the steps, downgraded, iCloud couldn’t bring anything back because the backup was from 18. I went back to 18 beta, and it couldn’t restore because the backup was no longer there. I had to start all over from scratch and only a few things restored. I’m really upset. I don’t think this video covers the difference in backup iOS versions thoroughly enough.
I did this about a month ago. I actually had to send my watch into apple to be downgraded to connect again. my Mac wasn't too bad to downgrade, however I decided to trade in and upgrade to an M3 MacBook Pro instead
I just tried to do this. I was able to successfully downgrade back to iOS 17 but when I wanted to recover my back up it told me I had to update back to iOS 18 beta 5. Otherwise it wouldn’t restore my data back to my phone. Any tips? It was annoying doing all of that just to be stuck back on iOS 18

well, I did all the backing up and it did not work. iPhone says, since the backup was done on iOS 18, it was incompatible with my current iPhone's software... So yeah, I have to restore everything manually now.

@@zehrahminal8629 idk your scenario but mine goes as follows. My battery went back to the way it was after reverting. My capacity as it is, is 84%. It’s basically functioning how it was before I tried the beta. So yes I don’t regret going back to 17.6, cause iOS 18 public beta was draining my battery a lot faster.
I was having a few minor bugs here and there. But the one that tipped me over the edge was my flashlight haptic button thingy on Lock Screen disappearing and no matter how many times I readded it, it kept disappearing. And the other was all my control center controls also vanished today. I’m cooked I don’t have a MacBook. Never getting a beta again after this. I am very hard-headed but when I learn my lesson, I learn it well.

Two hours later and nope. I keep getting an error stating “software not available”. Never had an issue before - that will teach me for downloading a beta when I swore I wouldn’t ever again. Now I’m stuck with this god awful iOS and the rubbish dark icons.

Once I removed my account the computer did it and I’m back on iOS 17. Not sure how I’m going to go when iOS18 is released as the main OS. I really didn’t like those dark icons (made the phone look like a toy or Chinese knock off) yet I prefer dark mode as my standard. Urgh. Apple.

I tried this process a few weeks ago on my iPad Pro, as I wanted to downgrade from iPadOS 18. but every time I tried to restore the device, it would always pop up an error, I remember specifically, the error was a 2006. And on occasion, it would just say the file was corrupt instead of of giving me an error. After a couple tries, the iPad got stuck in recovery mode, and I couldn't force it out. I took it to the Apple Store, and they said it was unrepairable. Any idea as to why? I'm scared to downgrade my iPhone for the possibility of the same thing happening. Thank you, Aaron!
You can also OPTION+Click the Restore Button in Devices, select the ipsw, and restore easily that way, without the power-off-and-press-and-hold shenanigans.

Ngl I upgraded my ios to ios 18 now battery life increases but speaker lost its quality and screen is nit bright enough as it used to be and in my opinion bazzels also increased here i compared the same iphone as mine and another one was performing way better 😢😢😢
I literally did what you did, but i can't back up my new data from the iOS 18 backup while not upgrading to beta again. Im really pissed on apple since i made a backup before installing the beta software, and they somehow removed that Never downloading beta again

I was having issues with Messages since I updated to iOS 18, so thankfully I made a backup before hand. This guide really helped.
Always backup your device before upgrading to iOS 18. This will allow you to easily restore your device to its previous state (iOS 17) if necessary.
Backups created after upgrading to iOS 18 won't work for restoring to iOS 17.

i've tried to do this but the problem is that it won't let me transfer my icloud backup unless i upgrade back to the beta
you can use a previous backup or if you have everything sync'd already all of the same things sync even if setup as new.

33K photos? Wow. I downloaded all my photos to an SSD and quit paying for cloud storage. Just easier for me.

There are apps that can help you with that and it works typically after the public beta is out without issue
