I was about 12 years old on vacation at Lake Winnepausake in New Hampshire when one day we went shopping and went to a record store among other things.
I saw this on sale and had no clue what it was, never heard of the band, but for some reason the cover of the album looked interesting so I asked for it and my parents bought it for me. I put the CD in my Walkman on the drive home, put my headphones on and listened to the whole album.
That intro back then, I never heard anything like it, I know now it’s a pretty simple filter placed over the guitar that slowly fades out, but it just blew me away, I still think of this album every now and then

It's more about loss in general than about love.
"Singer Stephen Christian said the song was inspired the troubles of his guitarist Joseph Milligan.
"Right at the time the album was being written, the guitarist Joey Milligan, his sister had passed away from cancer, and she was very young. She was only 29 years old, she had a one-and-a-half year old son and it really, really, just affected the band. It felt like a giant weight was placed on our chest the entire time we were recording."

Wow I haven’t heard this song since 2006. I was working my first job at A&F back in it’s prime. One night my friend from church brought a dvd over & this video was on it…we had to listen to it at least 20 times on repeat that night. The nostalgia hits deep. I miss going to youth meetings, being young & healthier, but I have learned a lot growing up. Don’t take anything for granted. Time flies. God bless you all.

This is the first time in years since I've seen this music video, and I'm feeling ridiculously emotional right now. This was the first song I heard from a band that I now call one of my favorites, that I've seen countless times live, who I adore more than I probably logically should. It's really hard to say goodbye to a band that have been a part of your life for so long (especially when all of the new music that they're put out sounds absolutely incredible), but if they think it's what's best for them I respect that. RIP Anberlin 2002-2014, can't wait to see you guys for the last time in a few weeks.

When your only friends are hotel rooms
    Hands are distant lullabies
If I could turn around I would tonight
These roads never seemed so long
Since your paper heart start beating leaving me suddenly alone
    Will daybreak ever come?
Who's gonna call on Sunday morning?
    Who's gonna drive you home?
I just want one more chance
To put my arms in fragile hands
    I thought you said forever
    Over and over
A sleepless night becomes bitter oblivion
These thoughts run through my head
    Over and over
Complaints of violins become my only friends
    August evenings
    Bring solemn warnings
To remember to kiss the ones you love goodnight
You never know what temporal days may bring
So laugh, love, live free and sing
    When life is in discord
    Praise ye the lord
Who's gonna call on Sunday morning?

Just another stop in my nostalgic music tour today.
I don't know why I do it to myself. It ends up making me sad. Longing for a time that's past and wasn't appreciated nearly enough when it was real.
Many of the people the songs bring back are dead. Others I haven't spoken to in years.
I wish I'd listened more. When people told me I'd miss those days, I couldn't even imagine the weight that what they were saying carried.
I'm happy in my life, but man, do I sometimes long for those care free days aurrounded by friends and our only responsibility was to have fun....

This song and video really hit me. My my situation may not be an exact fit with the lyrics, but for a number of reasons, it reminds me of my fight with cancer and the loss of my sister-in-law to cancer. "August Evenings bring solemn warnings to kiss the ones you love goodbye" is significant because my sister-in-law passed away in the middle of the night in the August of 2019. And "When life is in discord, praise ye the Lord" is also significant, as Meghan was very deeply passionate about her faith, even to the very end. It may be painful memories from my personal battle with cancer and my sister-in-law's, but I'm so glad this song and video was made. It's a really helpful way for me to remember the past.
Saw y'all live with Relient K back in 2003(I think?) and have been a huge fan since. Seriously thank you all for what you've given to the world.

This song is thoroughly the embodiment of every loss mortally and betrayal from peers and loved ones. Yet it continues to be me absolute favorite song in my arsenal. Love you guys!

just saw their last concert here in Manila... listening to this song knowing you have to say goodbye to a band you listened throughout your youth til your adulthood kinda brings the feels more than over 9000

My heart is so happy to come see Anberlin rock it out in Irvine in May 2020! This music carried me through my entire early adulthood and continues with me into my mid 30's. Keep rocking fellas, you're my favorite :)

You know those songs that are engrained within an old memory and as soon as they start they take you back to that memory so real that you can feel yourself there with every emotion? This is one of those songs for me. Same with A Day Late.
