2023 anyone??! Love this band and MOST from the early mid 2000's 🤘🤘 it was incomparable to most of the junk now that is Alternative/Indie/Rock sadly :/ great music is timeless I will still be listening to this song and one's like it for as long as I'm alive!! 🎶🎙🎸
I was about 12 years old on vacation at Lake Winnepausake in New Hampshire when one day we went shopping and went to a record store among other things. I saw this on sale and had no clue what it was, never heard of the band, but for some reason the cover of the album looked interesting so I asked for it and my parents bought it for me. I put the CD in my Walkman on the drive home, put my headphones on and listened to the whole album. That intro back then, I never heard anything like it, I know now it’s a pretty simple filter placed over the guitar that slowly fades out, but it just blew me away, I still think of this album every now and then
It's more about loss in general than about love. "Singer Stephen Christian said the song was inspired the troubles of his guitarist Joseph Milligan. "Right at the time the album was being written, the guitarist Joey Milligan, his sister had passed away from cancer, and she was very young. She was only 29 years old, she had a one-and-a-half year old son and it really, really, just affected the band. It felt like a giant weight was placed on our chest the entire time we were recording."
Lost my wife to leukemia 17 years ago, she took her last breath in my arms...sometimes I have flashbacks of her face and this song somehow brings me back to now.
That "to put my arms in fragile hands" still hits me so hard man.... to the point of tears. I've not known many bands to be able to convey emotion quite as well as Anberlin, To anyone else who grew up loving this band and came back here for the nostalgic memories, love to you all :)
Wow I haven’t heard this song since 2006. I was working my first job at A&F back in it’s prime. One night my friend from church brought a dvd over & this video was on it…we had to listen to it at least 20 times on repeat that night. The nostalgia hits deep. I miss going to youth meetings, being young & healthier, but I have learned a lot growing up. Don’t take anything for granted. Time flies. God bless you all.
2022 and this still gets me. My first love as a teenager used to play songs like this when he would Come home from deployment. He sadly took his like in 2009 the same way Chester did. I love him as much today as I did as a young girl. I wish he knew the impact he has forever made in my life ❤️
My mom died last August and I listened to this song on my way to work the other day for apparently the first time since then and I lost my shit...listened to it at least 2 dozen times since then, crying my eyes out at the parts that apply to my mom Thank you for a beautiful song that I can be miserable to
2021 here. I have not listened to this song in what, 10 years now? As soon as it started playing though, I sang every single word. This is just one of those good old timeless masterpieces that you never truly forget. Edit: Aybody else remember saving up cash from mowing lawns to go to the Christian book stores that no longer exist to buy this?
I was lucky south Florida had a Christian rock radio station back then. It was freaking amazing something we'll never see again. They would even play underoath
@@MountainsBreath that's awesome. they used to play more than fine, this is your life, and meant to live by switchfoot on the christian station in phoenix when I was young. I am not Christian but I loved that switchfoot album and always thought it was cool when my mom was listening to the annoying christian station and then I'd hear a band that I love. I love underoath too, that is so rad! what underoath song did they play? reinventing your exit probably?
Best most underrated rock band of all time. Years ago my band played at Cornerstone Christian Music festival and I got to meet them. You look at the singer and think “I bet he’s super nice”...I can say with certainty, he is. One of the sweetest people ever.
Dear Anberlin, every November I get seasonal depression. You have been my escape from the darkness and I thank you for not making me feel like an outcast ❤️
Funny how a song brings back memories of certain time in your life ? I remember when this song was new being 14 not a care in the world all the memories of being young hangin out with my old friends blasting this and a bunch of other songs all summer just having a great time .. now I'm 20 makes me wanna go back relive some of those days. any one else feel the same way ?
Yeah I think exactly the same thing when I listen to this, not to say I don't like my life at the moment, I love my girlfriend and being over 18 has some perks but life seemed to much simpler back then...
I used to sit in a park with my first girlfriend at 15 and listen to Anberlin, now I’m pushing 30, hadn’t thought about it in years, time goes quick man.
Not gonna lie.. this song and music video completely got me through my grandfathers death in 7th grade. Listening back now in 2021 I remember crying to this song over and over and I still get emotional! 10/10 amazing delivery I get so much nostalgia from this song and video…
This is the first time in years since I've seen this music video, and I'm feeling ridiculously emotional right now. This was the first song I heard from a band that I now call one of my favorites, that I've seen countless times live, who I adore more than I probably logically should. It's really hard to say goodbye to a band that have been a part of your life for so long (especially when all of the new music that they're put out sounds absolutely incredible), but if they think it's what's best for them I respect that. RIP Anberlin 2002-2014, can't wait to see you guys for the last time in a few weeks.
I bought this album (NTFP) while I was in Afghanistan back in 2005 only because of the album cover art. I didn't even know what I was buying at the time. It's my favorite album and band to this day!❤

When people told me I'd miss those days, I couldn't even imagine the weight that what they were saying carried. I'm happy in my life, but man, do I sometimes long for those care free days aurrounded by friends and our only responsibility was to have fun....
I remember when I was with my girlfriend & sadly, she moved to a different state after school ended. We celebrated our anniversary early & I gave her this song & we cried & I gave one last kiss before we said goodbye. Some nights I have the same dream & in the end, she fades away like dust in the air... I just wish I can see her one last time.
This song and video really hit me. My my situation may not be an exact fit with the lyrics, but for a number of reasons, it reminds me of my fight with cancer and the loss of my sister-in-law to cancer. You know those songs that are engrained within an old memory and as soon as they start they take you back to that memory so real that you can feel yourself there with every emotion? This is one of those songs for me. Same with A Day Late.

I don't know if there are that many perfect songs throughout human history but I am sure that this is one of them.
Lost my wife to leukemia 17 years ago, she took her last breath in my arms...sometimes I have flashbacks of her face and this song somehow brings me back to now.

This song always reminds me the good old days, never gets old!
Just like what I'm feeling every time I'm listening to this song.
Started adding this to my playlist in 2012, and still hurts like hell.
Yup. One of those songs you love but have to be careful when u listen to it depending on what memory it takes you back too.

Emery - Walls, Dead Poetic - New Medicines, Anberlin - Paperthin Hymn. 3 songs that all kinda stick out from this era and will never escape my brain.
This sing reminds me so much of both my baby girls up in heaven👼🏼💚Such a beautiful song.
A Sleepless nights becomes...... bitter oblivion.
Is a bar🔥🔥🔥 2024 whose here?
2024. God bless you my friend!!!!
Im not an overly Christian guy.... I'd say I'm more of a spiritual individual but the line "when life is in discord, praise ye Lord" is powerful.

What was your band? One of my closest friends used to go to cornerstone every year. Unfortunately I couldn’t ever go the few times I was invited
God I remember when this came out. And I still love it as much as I did then.
Dear Anberlin, every November I get seasonal depression. You have been my escape from the darkness and I thank you for not making me feel like an outcast ❤️
never give up , we love you !!!
same for me, friend! I always listen to them during this season. it matches perfectly.
you're not alone in this ❤
This is my FAVORITE Anberlin song ever, I miss this band so much. They need to make another album, pls
They’re back together and I’m sure they’ll make another album at some point.

Every single time I listen to this song, I get a smile on my face no matter the mood I'm in. Anberlin has and will never fail me.

I haven't heard this song in many years and I woke up this morning and it was in my head

When your only friends are hotel rooms
Hands are distant lullabies
If I could turn around I would tonight
These roads never seemed so long
Since your paper heart start beating leaving me suddenly alone
Will daybreak ever come?
Who's gonna call on Sunday morning?
Who's gonna drive you home?
I just want one more chance
To put my arms in fragile hands
I thought you said forever
Over and over
A sleepless night becomes bitter oblivion
These thoughts run through my head
Over and over
Complaints of violins become my only friends
August evenings
Bring solemn warnings
To remember to kiss the ones you love goodnight
You never know what temporal days may bring
So laugh, love, live free and sing
When life is in discord
Praise ye the lord
Who's gonna call on Sunday morning?
Who's gonna drive you home?
I just want one more chance
To put my arms in fragile hands

The sleepless night becomes bitter oblivion
These thoughts run through my head
