thanks, glad you liked it. If you've never played them I'd suggest just going in chronological order. Maybe don't finish them if you get bored but they're all worth playing, more or less. And remember the camera mod for DoW 1, it's a great QoL improvement.
Very well made video but I felt from the start there was going to be some DOW1 bias. The fact is the games are very apples and oranges. DOW1 was more traditional with big armies, build order efficiency, more is better. DOW2 was about small unit tactics, which units you build and how you use them is key, having more means little if it doesn't counter what your opponent is using. It's really a matter of taste.
exactly. I remember a time i had triple guardsmen with a commissar and they basically shreded everything they come against, then my opponed bringed out a raptor squad, i lost a whole squad of guardsmen and i lost all of my map control
there was so much room for improvement to bridge the gap between dawn of war 1 and 2 and create something seriously special in the sequel and we got dawn of war 3 instead :( i love dow2 more in theory but i always end up playing the first one a lot more

Hey, I cover it briefly around 37:30 Basically, while DOW2 does have a skirmish mode, the AI is awful at all difficulties. It doesn't compare to either COH1 or DOW1, it always spreads around its units too much in order to capture all of the map, but it retreats way too often and it's incapable of coordinating. Even if they start winning because you find your points constantly neutralized, the AI really doesn't know how to handle units that can't retreat: tanks and superheavies will just park in front of your base waiting to be killed, so you should always come out on top in the late game. It's especially bad with Eldars and the Imperial guard. TL;DR: the skirmishes in DOW2 suck, sadly. The campaigns are the good single-player bits and I'd say they're worth playing.

But the buildings and all I miss from dawn of war 1 and if I had to choose I would love for them to remaster dawn of war 1 and give it a graphical uplift and fix the camera without the use of a mod. Such good games. Really hope they take another stab at it. Would love to see a dawn of war 4 with the base building of 1 and the army abilities of 2. Now that would be a great game plus last stand was super fun!
Tempted to get Dawn of War 2, because Dawn of War 1 just refuses to run anymore, and steam won't give me a refund. Base game and Winter Assault keep telling me '1 file failed to verify' when I try to verify files, the other 2 expacs are eternally stuck on another error about 'incorrect screen configuration' and I've spent weeks going down every rabbit hole (manually reinstalling Credistributables, creating missing folders, deleting appcaches and userdata caches, disabling firewall/windows defender, even a clean steam reinstall) to no avail
Sorry to hear that, maybe messing with GraphicsConfig.exe or using a widescreen fix might help with screen configuration issues but I never had that problem so I'm not really sure. DoW 2 should run without issue, at least on windows 10

If you like pvp, dow1 may be better. If, like me, you prefer single player, definitely DoW2, imo. And let's not forget, Last Stand! For me, it's DoW2, no contest! (Less so, with Retribution)

Still, DoWII is a better campaign and especially coop-campaign game. In fact DoWII is one of the best coop games ever created. Agree that DoW1 is stronger on competitive MP, skirmish and comp-stomp.

Sorry to hear that, maybe messing with GraphicsConfig.exe or using a widescreen fix might help with screen configuration issues but I never had that problem so I'm not really sure.
