- This is the short story of a dream I have since I started to play David Gilmour in 2013. Ten years. My ambition was to get his same red stratocaster. I have had several ones in my hands, from my first Candy apple American Special to my last MIJ red strat, which was a great guitar.
Many of you asked me why I sold that beauty.
The reason was that I was trying to get this 1983 Fullerton Made American Vintage 57' Reissue in Candy apple red (V008216) which I saw at the house of a friend, casually, while he wanted to try my Sunburst strat.
I said, she has to be mine.
Even thought the nitro finish in many points was burnt and melt, the neck was in great conditions.
I took the guitar to my trusted luthier to give her a new life.
The pickup cavities has been routed deeper to allow EMG SA to be down enough to reach a "Passive" PU sound.
The body has been also re-finished with Nitro.
My EMG DG20 on again, and the "red strat style" tremolo arm.
Where I got my short tremolo arm in "red strat" style:

I love candy apple Red Strats. My all time favorite Strat color and Strat period is the Richie Kotzen MIJ Trans Red. My favorite Tele just happens to be his signature MIJ Tele as well. Richie just nails it with his choices on his fenders. My second favorite Tele is probably the Signature Andy Wood Suhr though with the dual humbuckers. That guitar is an absolute gem
That's awesome! Congratulations!!! I have one and absolutely love it. I had to replace the frets on mine too. Enjoy!
@davidhunter1389 you have a Fullerton 57 reissue CAR?
Yes, you really have the Pink Floyd guitar sound.
I try to give my approach. Thank you
Scherzo naturalmente, bellissima chitarra, complimenti ❤🎸💯
Hahahahah eddai.. Non si dice!!... Hehehehehe
Good luck with that beauty
Thanks !
Grazie
You've nailed the sounds very well. Are you using your HIWATT and the cab beneath it?
What speakers are in the cab?
Thank you!
Nope, I’m using my PULSE Pack from Fractal Axe FX3
Whats the specs on the neck? I'm assuming it's 7-1/4 radius with the vintage frets?
Yes
Are these EMG S pickups?
Rifinitura perfetta! Potrei indicarmi chi l’ha eseguita?
Dovrei anch’io effettuare un lavoro simile sulla mia telecaster, stessa colorazione Candy Apple red
Dude that's a beautiful solo. What is the name of that solo from and where can i find it so i can learn it on my red strat. THANKS (not the sorrow intro but the other solo in video thanks again)
Ah, that oh-so recognizable headstock shape with the extra smooth curves...
How's the neck shape? I've always wanted to feel one for myself but alas... I've had no chance to.
It is fantastic
Awesome! a dream of mine too. I currently have a avri ltd 57 thin skin which should be the same spec but what bugs me the most about Gilmours is the neck color. In the videos its always very orange or dark amber but sometimes not as dark? Its a mistery. The American Vintage (post vintage series) i have seen are much lighter / not as dark as Gilmours. Is it less dark live? I’m wondering if the video changes the looks of it.
I guess it also depends on the age. The color is given by the finish. The MIJ classic 50 lacquer was so orange, for example. On daylight it is between orange and yellow, with other lights it changes. You can see the same effect during PULSE dvd, the neck changes something like 10 colors
Looking foward to it. Those are expensive guitars
They are. I had to sell two of mine
What is going rate
How many springs does gilmour use. I have always been curious how he stays in tune using bar so much
@@chrissguitarshow206 I guess 3 springs. He plays with floating bridge. I do that too. After a good setup and stretch there’s no tuning issue
Te felicito Francesco. Quedo bellísima. Cuerpo y mango son del '83????
Yes. But the body has been re-finished
Congratulations! It seems those custom color Fullerton Strats were only sold in Europe. I've never seen a CAR Fullerton '57 in the US.
Thanks! I can’t tell anyway, I took it from an Italian guy who had three of these. A candy, a sunburst and a cream one
I own a Custom Shop Gilmour Signature Black Strat, but I want this guitar. Would you consider selling??
