  • Alberta has introduced a new incentive in hopes of attracting workers into the province.
The provincial government’s Budget 2024 is setting aside $10 million for the Alberta is Calling attraction bonus, which provides workers with a $5,000 refundable tax credit.
With the new incentive, the government hopes to attract out-of-province workers in the skilled trades.

They are looking for tradespeople from other provinces but the big problem the Alberta government is creating by doing this is the lack of jobs for people already living there as well as the future of their children who may want to enter into the trades. They will also drive up the costs of housing as well. It’s not a good idea especially for Albertans and their future generations. Trudeau’s Liberals are already facing problems with the over saturation of refugees and immigrants. They have even admitted to their mistake a few times on the News as there’s not enough jobs or affordable housing. Why Smith is doing virtually the same-thing to an extent is beyond me 🤦‍♂️. Remember that money is costing taxpayers that could be better utilized in subsidies for Albertas graduates to enter into the trades so it doesn’t cost them a bunch of money in trades schools.
Alberta needs doctors so bad maybe the provincial government should give the option to cover 100% of the tuition in exchange for a signed 20yr contracts to work for the Province and placed by the government where they are needed after that they can go wherever they want or if they want out of the contract early they would have to fully pay back the tuition cost to the Government. The doctor shortage would be virtually non existent in the province if they did it that way.

I'm not in Trades. I live happily in Brampton. Some of my friends have been in Trades but they're all well-settled here. Electricians at Hydro One and Millwrights at Magna. I don't think those well-experienced individuals would move to Alberta. I think mostly new immigrants, young couples, millennials who can't afford expensive housing here in Ontario will most likely move to Alberta. I believe, Alberta is most likely looking for "White" people from ON/BC. Alberta is an overall more racist. Well, Those types of racists are everywhere. I mean, Alberta cities are more like Sarnia, Chatham, London, Sudbury. It's not like Toronto. That's probably why Housing is cheap there. lol. I have been to Calgary, Edmonton, Banff, Jasper, etc. I am speaking from experience. If you're not white, don't even think about it. LOL.
