The math teacher is eating poop because he, among others, was living underground while the aliens took over the Earth. In S03E01 there's a scene where he emerges from the sewers. Apparently they had very little to eat there and once they've started eating poop, some couldn't stop.
the therapy scene made this episode honestly. I appreciated the writing and the clear, concise way the therapist narrowed down Rick's issues. It also gave the fans an interesting perspective for dealing with mental health issues.
It's a shame most of it get overlooked because of loud obnoxious shit like "I'M PICKLE RIIIICK!" cus le funny meme xDDDD Without really thinking too much about it other than random and loud. I think Pickle Rick is funny, not because of that fact but because it's just so stupid and petty that he went out of his way to put himself in such a situation just to avoid therapy and having to address shit. All this shit he had to go through that day was because of that and he still has to do it anyway by the end.
No, it was the piece of shit new writer Jessica Gao self-inserting herself into the episode so she can write herself as an intellectually superior individual who can pick Rick apart mentally. This season was garbage compared to the previous ones because of her. Thank god she's not writing for Season 4.
Jove Joved So every other episode where Rick picks apart others beliefs, actions, logic, and science isn't counted as self-inserting themselves as intellectually superior compared to others? Your making something out of nothing and complaining about it just because the show had one therapy session with Rick, Beth, Morty, and Summer.....do you REALLY think that or do you just see therapy or any sort of psychological evaluation as an attack on intelligence due to your own insecurity and definition of intelligence??
misterlobsterman if anything I think they are just calling back to how rick loves saying his own name like tiny Rick. calling it meme humor is just dishonest
People focus too much on the "Rick being badass" action parts and not enough on the therapy session part. No one talks about that part. Whenever I see reactions people just cut out the part Rick is talked to and called out on his shit.
Well, that might be just because that part doesnt call as much reaction out of people, but they didnt discuss it so they might've overlooked the serious and well-put explanation of Rick's mentality.
right? it's annoying honestly. the entire point of the episode was that rick turned himself into a pickle to avoid going to therapy and then when he did she told him exactly what his problems were which is why he didn't wanna go in the first place but very few people acknowledge or even talk about that
John Goli Yes, let’s talk about the somber aspects of a comedy show. Rick being a pickle is HIS therapy session... The journey back To his family and doing what it takes to get there. He went through this giant life-threatening adventure to end up at the literal therapy session at the end With his family. Come on now. Everything in Rick and Morty serves a purpose to the plot. No matter how ridiculous things get. The sub plot serves the main plot and Vice versa. So yea, Rick being a bad ass IS the best part of the show. At least that’s how I see it. It’s all subjective. Have a great one. Not looking For attention. Just like talking shows/movies ☝️👍
SuperBlueboy2010 I heard one theory say that while the intergalactic government was controlling earth some humans went underground to fight against the new government and had to eat poop to survive
The whole point of the "pickle rick" plot, with all of its gratuitous brain-numbing action nonsense (which, unlike a lot of adventures, has zero long term consequences) was created exactly like that to prove the therapist's point about how Rick and the family use crazy sci-fi mania to cover up all the deep-seated problems eating away at them. That adventure was exactly the distracting brain junk that Rick uses as a crutch to convince himself that he's somehow better than the unhealthy dynamic thats tearing him and his family apart. The way Rick and Beth talked about it afterward, completely ignoring the conversation with the therapist, feeds into the kind of internal rhetoric that prevents them from confronting reality. When people were so obsessed with "I'm Pickle Rick!" it really seemed like they missed the ENTIRE point of this episode. It just seemed like the fans were allowing themselves to get pulled into the delusion like Rick did, when in reality we should've been paying attention to the ACTUALLY important stuff, stuff that indicates Rick is on a dangerous self-destructive path, a path that threatens to damage the people he cares about beyond repair (specifically Morty).
I'm so glad this is one of their favorites. Definitely one of mine! The memes didn't lessen the episode for me at all or maybe I just didn't see them as much as others. Obligatory PICKLE RICK!!!
It's an expectation subversion that double downs on itself. We are supposed to feel let down (like Morty) when we see a brilliant character do something insignificant cause and I summarise "he can". Just like Rick, the episode gives the writers a godlike stature, only reason they did this episode is because they can. Next they ask us to be awed, "don't dig deep to find hidden layers, just be impressed."But the episode unravels into another movie gimmick where we do dig deep into our protagonist and the family after some fast paced action. Kudos to the writers, they give an appealing and original feel to used movie tropes.
Wow you must have a very high iq. This episode, and the humour went passed my head. I am truely an idiot. The humour was subtle but said something deep about LIFE
Nah the episode was crap basically senseless violence and gore to keep you entertained juxtaposed with the stupid therapy session that did nothing but tell us stuff about the family that we already knew...there was no digging deep into anything, it was a horribly bland episode. Also can you explain how they gave us an "appealing and original" feel to used movie tropes? you just said in the line before that the episode unravels into another movie gimmick which was the action contrasted with the family issues, so how was it appealing and original when it is as you said "a movie gimmick"?
Pickle rick was originally a joke to make fun of their fanbase for liking tiny rick so much even though it wasn't even supposed to be funny. The opposite happened though and pickle rick became the new tiny rick solidifying that rick and morty fans are literally retarded.
@Mankind - Redefined @Meteorite I had to cut things out in order to stay within the content guidelines RUclips enforces (otherwise videos get blocked and I would have to re-edit and reupload the video). I never purposely edit scenes out from the episodes so that they would be exclusive to Patrons, nor am I ever instructed to by the Crew. They're not greedy like EA. I'm not even a Patron, so I don't even have access to any of their reward tiers for Patrons. I edit these reactions to include as much of the episode as possible.
@Awpwn Oh neat, thanks for the reply, Awpwn! Honestly, I was just being coy with my response about the fact that nothing of the episode was 'skipped'. I just thought they didn't react much to it as that had been a reason scenes were not shown previously, but yeah, obviously you can't show everything.
@DanteRU0312 I don't edit every video on their channel, just their Rick and Morty reactions and Star Wars Rebels at the moment. Rhop edits most of their anime reactions. I think he said that the best viewing experience for those series is to watch the OVAs between certain episodes or something. Rhop also has the largest workload out of us editors, so by only releasing the OVA for that week, gives him more time to work on the next full episode reaction.
@Meteorite That too. Some people need to remember that these are REACTION videos, and not just a condensed episode of a show. If the reactors don't express much or take note of certain moments of a show, it'll usually get cut out to make room for the moments that really stook out to them.
Eating the hotdog was courageous because it showcased the eating of normal food as opposed to shit. When the man with the poo problems left, it was changed to a happy family for the patients there for family therapy.
RothRocks2000 - It sure is! And, it uses that creativity to work the many different story levels of the R&M series! I'm not surprised so many commenters don't like it; you have to be a real fan of the show to appreciate it all!
I get if you're put off by the mindless violence, but I just find the entire premise of this episode to be amazing. I love when shows just say, "fuck it" and realize that they can do literally anything as long as it entertains their audience. Who cares if it doesn't really make sense, just be amazed that you're watching a show where a super genius turns himself into a pickle that is surprisingly badass.
steven franklin - And THAT is yet another reason I prefer devices to be powered by AA batteries instead of built-in, rechargable Lithium - Ion batteries! : >

"Creating an Ironman suit out of a rat" couldn't have put better myself. This is one of my favourite episodes. PICKLE RICK!!!😂😂😂
