I read somewhere on Instagram, that Pakistan music is still very unique to its audience, because it is not heavily commercialized by its movie industry, rather most their songs are culturally rooted.

Imagine if all the great western artists like The Beatles, MJ, Queen, Kanye had to make popular movies to be able to release their music, and had to make sure all their compositions fit the context of the movies they were making. Its a ridiculous way of making music compared to everyone else in the world and it dilutes the product artistically and creates unnecessary barriers for music to be made. But Bollywood is so big, that it casts a large shadow on everything it touches. It casts a shadow on it's music industry, other movie industries in the country, and even on the Pakistani movie industry, where many people prefer watching bollywood more.

Bollywood, the mainstream music base of India, has mostly the same feelings of romance, heartbreaks and party songs in about every album, not to mention commercial music and not creative or new music.

I'm a huge fan of Seedhe Maut and Maithili Thakur and I completely agree with you. The arrangement, writing and production felt lacking. Seedhe Maut have amazing songs like Pankh where they have collaborated with classical singers and their verses fit in much better. Also Maithili's mix felt very soft for being the lead singer. I also feel bad for the Sarod players, they were not given ample time to shine, and were probably not needed either. Burnt khichdi is an apt comparison. I blame the arrangement, production and concept team for this.

I believe that comparing CS Bharat and Bangla would never do justice to CS Pakistan or Coke Studio. Coke Studio (PK) is so far far ahead of all the others, which are copies of it.

While you think of CS Pakistan kana yaari I thought of rangabati of CS India.. the rap was Tamil while the song was Odia and it blends.. proves they don’t have to be in the same language to be good..
As for this song I think the contrast of rap and Brij Bhasha is not bad.. but the music in first half is too loud and therefore Maithili’s voice fails to shine so it takes a bit to take off

Talking about the intercultural mixes in a song in Coke Studio India, Zariya composed by AR Rahman Sir where he mixed Jordanian music, Tibetan Buddhist Chant, Indian Music & electronic part along with the percussions by Siva Mani still the best for me till date.

That was an amazing song, creating an awareness of our roots and the equality of nature. So well produced and arranged, with Arivu's rap and Khatija ma'am's voice as an icing on the cake!!!! that song so nostalgic.......i am bengali and listening to that somehow connects me to my roots and makes me appreciate these songs that penetrate our hearts and give light to our souls ..it reminds me of my bengali self and specially when back then these types of lokogiti and baul songs weren't made by big singers and composers but by common people in villages and towns with the purpose of delivering their heartfelt messages of everyday life with their mysterious and majestic simplicity !

I have been listening to desi hip hop since it was all underground only and Indian rap has this problem from start that most rappers Do Not Rap According To the Context Of the Song in feature songs
They just do their flex and other stuff irrespective of what the song needs
Ps:- there are always exceptions like raftaar has done some good features in bollywood

the music in CS 14 was different because of Abdullah Sidiquie because he was the one who introduced electronic music in the Coke Studio which was new to everyone in Pakistan and then above all it was recorded live......

imo, for rap Sloka would have been a good choice, he may have written that rap part in bhojpuri/maithli/braj Or poure hindi without disturbing essence of original folk
I believe that the song could've been way better of the beats were mixed well to some extent. And at a point Calm's verse just sounded very off, a lil autotune should've been used by setting the de-tune around 11, cause the instruments are electrocuted ones and a normal rap vocal is really hard to match with it. And Yeah the Folk and slang could've been done but the Seedhe maut verse is like complete casual/rap vibe like as in carefree enjoyment sort of thing but Maithili's verse is just very different to that. That would've made the song better....
