Smaller subplots aside, Lina basically sabotages her relationship with the ML with her jealousy and constantly trying to target XX. The ML finally cuts her loose. XX gets married to the mayor. The hometown becomes prosperous, and there’s a last clip showing XX living a happy married life with her mayor husband and giving the audience one of those government sponsored messages about working together for a prosperous China. The full series is not on RUclips, so I don’t know if there was any episodes after that or if I’m missing any scenes because most of what I’ve seen or just clips, but I didn’t see the ML again and last I saw of Lina, she was sort of broken and stewing in her own resentment.

What a brainless tool! The ex-wife is too nice, but karma will unfold on that cheating couple. I can't fathom how the ex-husband doesn't feel any regret, shame, or remorse for his ex-wife. He still has feelings for the slag that coldly drop kicked him and walked away when he got hurt. He's a glutton for punishment. He then couples up with the mistress, goes on with his daily life, and just walks away from his responsibilities but has the gall to ask for his daughter only because the mistress is infertile and she wants a complete family. Shameless is the perfect word. I love how karma plays out in this drama thpugh. The MIL is a but high handed, though.
