Something about seeing them smiling, and laughing, it just fills me with joy. You never get to see that in the game, and I know that's kind of the point, that they're not heroes, just people, but still, I can't even express how happy I got when I saw the camera pan out to Leper's joyous face. This is beautiful work. Every second of it.
What makes this art is how every voiced character fits perfectly. Now every time i look at man at arms im gonna hear that pseudo mr krabs voice and im not upset about it....
Man, it's so weird seeing the heroes not in a state of hopeless despair. But of course, the player, their boss, is never around to see them relaxing every week. They're off in one of the dungeons with some unlucky four while everyone else gets to chill back in the hamlet, waiting till they draw the short straw and get sent on the next expedition.
I mean... Flagellant is never I a state of hopeless despair. The man's ONLY affliction/virtue is "loving this shit". He is to DD what the Orks are to 40k.
There's something really special about these Darkest Dungeon animatics and comics where they're just chilling and being silly. I think I have a thing for stories where the characters go through a lot of hardships together but then they're able to bond through the trauma and still have these shorts moments of peace every now and then. So yeah, this checks a lot of boxes for me 🖤
The best comeback story is how i went into the first Darkest Dungeon mission with hellion-flagellant-jester-occultist team, then flagellant died from a crit into deaths door and then a blled proc midway through, and i had to beat the rest of the mission with a 3 man squad, and my hellion fucking carried us to victory. But that wasnt the comeback, the comeback was when my flagellant returned from the dead right as we returned from the mission. Dude just went "ye, i died in the dungeon right before your eyes but dont worry, i got better"
Turned the plague doctor from a crow to to a wood pecker real quick i love how they smile and laugh it makes sense they relieve stress as people would and this adds more reality rooted elements to it i love it
I lost 4 units there, because I killed the little pig first and after that, my friend told me that I shouldnt have done that. I felt so pissed, but I actually got better recruits, so Im fine.
"Support Yourself" commented on that, beneath the top-comment ;) And actually the nosebleed is caused by ... nah, doesn't matter. If stories are perceived differently, that's something nice.
Sometimes even the toughest people (who do experiments on humans without hesitation and throw phials in pig's faces) can't handle simple filthy jokes ;)
