The zoom out feature is great when you ask a portrait and the arms or shoulders of the person are cut. You just have to slightly zoom out the picture to obtain a perfect picture.
Thank you! 👍 They're being really smart by referring to it as '5.2' instead of v6. Introduce excellent features now, and then improve them in v6, along with other new features. I have noticed though, that it tends to lean towards photorealism a lot, but the market defines the niche I guess. Thank you again for a great update. 💯
Actually, I’m following the way you’re zooming this room corner and what it is showing is hypothetically, transparent glass walls. It’s a trend in modern architecture and it looks great if you look at it that way.
I am so excited to change the aspect ratio in situ. Those many stretched out strange images of the past where I forgot to change the aspect ratio to what I needed are (hopefully!) a thing of the past! I tried out the --shorten feature, but either my prompts are already pretty tight or the feature isn't that useful. 😂 I got a little too excited there for a moment, maybe. The insights are pretty interesting, must admit. Outpainting is, of course, the feature we've all been waiting for (goes without saying lol)
with the zoom out can you create a panorama ? or reverse the zoom so you can see it from the other side ? this would go along way to making video or a 3d scene that could be animated
The need fantastic the way they have the zoom feature and the easy transition to 16 to 9 ratio… But I can’t wait for you to create a video about a video creation on majourney. Everybody’s skipping some of the basic steps and I think you are one of the only video creators who takes the time to outline the exact steps in the front. Would you please make a video for making a video in Midjourney? I’m a good video editor on Final Cut Pro and adobe premiere but this something new I want to learn. Oh, you have a link please share!
It's actually garbage level out painting compared to any other ai out painting too in the market. You have absolutely no control of where you can out paint. And it starts blackening out everything after zoom out 2 times. There's a reason they didn't exactly call it out painting
@@TokenizedAI hey I have the midjourney year package, I'm upset at the lazy development. Every office hours all they do is complain about having a small team while also saying they have too much money. This is just a gimmicky version of our painting for people to pass time while they work on the website. They're doing this to not lose users as they are everyday. No one wants to admit that it's actually a basic function that should have been in the tool months ago.
you have both created one the most extensive library of tutorials for creating the kind of art i want, and you've simultaneously sucked the joy out of the process. so I dunno, thanks?
@@TokenizedAI True. I've been trying to trick it though by making it create the same image. No luck so far but not giving up. Thank you for responding! :)
You can zoom out by simultaneously changing the aspect ratio, and it gives you a fantastic cinematic effects from a detailed Hugh hand at some point and was successful…
Hey Chris. Nice video again. I‘ve got a crazy idea. How about a video on bringing Carla back to live in version five.two? Is is it now easier or still the same hustle to get some kind of consistent characters? What’s your opinion on this?
@@TokenizedAI I was going to suggest the same about Carla to see how 5.2 works with character consistency as well as character posing sheets. Many times when doing pose sheets the head gets cut off at the top and the zoom feature might help alleviate that problem.
6:15 this is what midjourny does hahahahahahaha all midjourny does is make us click to open the larger image in a new tab all day and take out focus away from making money on the phone. Also makes us fat
By that i mean that i wanna upload an image and then give the link to the midjourny and zoom out no other photo or things added to picture like content aware in photoshop but better
I think the results would not have gotten as weird, had you zoomed out without stylizing at very high (750). It makes stuff really abstract and artsy. Maybe Stylizing at 100 would have provided much better resutls.
Maybe, but I can't really confirm that based on my experiments. It works fine in other cases. Either way, I think it's intellectually more honest to show that not everything is perfect. Rather show the full range of outcomes.
It’s actually not really a proper out painting as it does not add pixel and rescale the composition . Besides I’m not very keen on the latest model training which tends to make pictures more complex and exaggerated regardless of prompts you give , I found that you need to work more on the prompt than usual . I’d love to have your opinion if you also encountered this phenomenon especially with minimalist and elegant compositions
You make a valid point. But Outpainting is a broader term that encapsulates many things, including various sub-forms. We can obviously discuss semantics but in the end, this is obviously a precursor to what you are referring to. If you want to reduce "exaggeration", why don't you just use --style raw and reduce --stylize below 100?
... had a tonne of fun experimenting with these new features... upping the resolution is something I'm waiting on but these tweaks are pretty damn useful ...
Is the stylize parameter different to the styling setting in the settings??? (Low, mid, high). Its very confusing all this overlap I really wish they'd get off discord and just have a simple menu interface. Parameters are annoying
@@TokenizedAI Ok thanks, but then why would I use stylize as a parameter then?? Why not just set the styling in the settings? Is setting it as a parameter just a shortcut option?
The zoom out feature is great when you ask a portrait and the arms or shoulders of the person are cut. You just have to slightly zoom out the picture to obtain a perfect picture.
Exactly - fixed one for me that was 4:5 ar with the left arm clipped. I wanted 1:1 and got the bit of missing arm
Totally!
Thanks Chris! Nice summary of the new features. I see that the more you zoom, the darker the image gets, as others have reported.
Yes, although I think that's only if you actually zoom out. If you just do custom zooms with a value of 1, then I think it's different.
Thank you! 👍

Yes, but use it with caution.
The great religion of ai art is thriving. Praise the almighty mj

The latest features are great. They open up tons of possibilities.
I’ve been making some insane infinite zoom vids w just 20 x 2 images and ChatGPT4 code interpreter is doing the actual videos w mov file downloads!
lol what? Code interpreter can do that? 😆
@@TokenizedAI I def took me a few hours to get the detailed prompt dialed in but YES! I can inbox the prompt if interested brah

😆 🤣 😂 I've seen some absurdly long prompts used by some people in MJ, but that one may take the prize! 😆 🤣 😂
I think they got it from ChatGPT

Nope, but with the new pan feature you can
Thanks for the video, very nice material here

Thanks for a great video. No wonder the Zoom out looks weird, as you pick two pictures to combine, that dosen't make sense.
Sorry, but that makes no sense. My second example was based on the exact same blend prompt and that looked great.

Then just continue using your other tools.

Not really sure how that's my fault 🤷🏻♂️
are there any news about the site version?
No. Don't expect it anytime soon.
Any ideas how to bring in my own image and be able to do a zoom out on it?
Midjourney is an image generator, not an image editor. You can use it as a reference image but that's it.

i happily welcome this to extend a shoulder-height noodes to 'reveal' the whole body . yummy

Nope
Good bye Dall-E outpainting :)
That happened a long time ago already 😅
I still have the new variations mode to try - will be giving it a go now 😊
You may know this, but you can just click the number 1 below the shorten response to generate it.
Yeah, I know. It was a reflex and I realized how unnecessary it was only after recording 😆
I do NOT see ZOOM OUT OR IN options in V6...and can't find it in settings?
Thank you for the new information! This is awesome!
My pleasure!

The images look better but it sucks my black line art prompts for coloring pages now add colors so that's not helpful for me lol
Use custom zoom with only 1x and change aspect ratio

No upscaler still. Boo hiss.
