The man is simply A-M-A-Z-I-N-G. He is not just an outstanding musician, he is truly good people. I took my 1957 Gibson to a concert (VIP) passes. He hung out with the crow, had drinks, joked around and simply was one of us. In the end, he not only signed my guitar, but played it. It was the night of my life. His lyrics tell stories, family stories, relationship stories...The man is an open book with his life through his music....just plain as real as it gets. He's truly an inspiration.

I was leaving a Delbert McClinton concert, years ago, Keb Mo was sitting outside at he club next door asking people to come in and hear his music, I talked to him a little while, decided it was too late.........................................................didn't go,saw him on House of Blues about a week later, and rued my decision!!! hope I get another chance here in Houston. Love this song by my childhood/church friend Kevin. My dad was the founder and pastor of the "Double Rock Baptist Church" that he mentions in the song, and I'm so glad he memorialized the church as part of his upbringing in our home town of Compton.
As a classmate and PK in a different ⛪ in the community, I relate too. I recognize those names and mothers mentioned in the lyrics. One of the most resonating aspects of this work is a magnificent musical 🎸 refutation of the novelist Tom Wolfe. Fabulous lyrics and that refrain is unforgettable🎶

Such a laid back and relaxing style. Have been lsitening to Keb Mo' for a while now and enjoy his music a great deal. Not sure why but this song always makes me feel good about life. Keb Mo' is a definite "must see" for me!
When I first heard this song at Bob Hope Airport in Burbank on my way to Las Vegas in the spring of 1998, I thought it was Hootie & the Blowfish. I think Darius Rucker also recorded this. Reminds me of an Eric Clapton song as well.

The imagery in this song is beautiful... so optimistic in spite of poverty and stereo types of living in Compton, LA. The lyrics just hits my heart and the level musicianship is topnotch. One of my all time favorites
I was at a popeyes chicken in Austin texas. Chicken leg in one hand, red beans and rice in the other when this song came on. It stopped Me in My tracks so i grabbed a napkin to write what I hoped would be the correct title, sped on home and play it over and over and over...
