In AP mode it will act as a wireless router (access point), should let you use the LAN port conected to the Internet Source and share it in your room But you can do it without this just by using any Virtual Router software and save the money... Its up to you.

I have ordered this router(tp link router mini) but i will not recieve it because i have doubt about it, i have LAN connection in my hostel , each room has got a cable of internet.Since we are 2 roommates, I wanted a device to which if i connect the LAN cable,it should create wifi connection, but i think the router is quite different. In this we have to connect LAN to router and router to laptop , so what is profit? why not i should directly connect LAN to pc ? please tell me if i am wrong.

When used with a USB Mobile data dongle, will it handle ther windows specific code these dongles back into the downside devices?
I am a Linux user and am looking for a similar device that will handle the executable code demands of various USB Mobil data dongles without needing any Windows device downline.
Downline of that, I hope to use a Netgear GS108T smart switch to handle the LAN's internal segment, without any need for either a windows machine to make use of, or any Windowsw device downline to manage same, That executable damand must be handles exclusively by the mobile dat device.
There is a device in Canada that will do this, but it starts at around $400.00 CAD - too much unless you want a ruggedized device for rough locations.
I wanna use this to play Pokemon Go, as I don't have data on my phone. If I carried this in my backpack while connected to my phone, would it still work?
you would still need the internet. so would need a wireless internet provider dongle that connects to it and pay money for internet service on that. not sure if that is any cheaper than just paying for data on your phone. i would just pay for mobile data if it's that important to you to play pokemon

Can the ethernet port be used as a LAN port i.e. to share the 3G internet connection with one ethernet connected device (like a laptop) instead of connecting via WiFI? Or even to connect an ethernet switch to it and share it with a few Ethernet devices?
