I've got a reference related to Curie. Occasionally she will say "I believe the term is "Yahoo."" which a reference to Jonathan Swift's book Gulliver's Travels, more specifically part four where Gulliver is marooned on an island that is ruled by very intelligent horses. The only creatures on the island that even slightly resemble humans are a race of caveman-like creatures that the horses refer to as Yahoos, which both the horses and Gulliver find to be vile and repulsive.
Rex is one of my favourite companions as well. A lot of people say he's overshadowed by ED-E, but in all honesty, I don't really like ED-E. An important necessity for any companion travelling with me is that they have to be able to make at least basic conversation. What does ED-E do when you attempt to talk with him? He beeps. Sure Rex can only bark and so on, but I feel more of an attachment to Rex as I practically saved his life with a brain transplant. Rex was in a poor state when I met him, not looking the best for wear, only for me to help him out and be told by the King "He likes you." With ED-E, I found him already "dead" and just fixed him. No one told me ED-E liked me, so on some subconscious level, I guess I never liked him back. Also Rex can emote, as in show you how he's feeling by barking, whimpering, whining and so on. ED-E is a faceless robot... Yeah. I wanted to like ED-E, truly I did, but I just never saw that spark of friendship in him like I did with Rex.
Just my observation, but Rex also used to be in the service in Caesar's Legion eventually finding himself in the service of The King and then to The Courier. From one king to the King, and possibly hinting to what is supposed to be the outcome of NV which is, serving the new King of an independent New Vegas.
Fallout 4 is the first game in the series to give Dogmeat a breed beyond simply a mutt, a German Shepard. Fallout 4's main story revolves around Synths, robots so advanced they can pass as human and will infiltrate human society. In the Terminator franchise, which has robots of similar natures to Synths, the German Shepard breed of dogs are used as guard dogs, as they can detect when someone is actually a Terminator in disguise. Conclusion: Dogmeat's breed in fallout 4 is a reference to the Terminator series.

Here's the problem, unlike with more modern music 18th, 19th, & 20th century it is very hard to recognize a piece of music just by listening to a snippet of it.
