Just do any object oriented programming language course specially i recommend you Programming with java , Data Structure and algorithm using python or C++ , Reason behind this is the employment, they provide u job specially if you score good in any of these course then you will get an opportunity of job from big mnc's with huge package and believe me i got placement from nptel and my role is of developer in infosys.

Yes, one thing to note that All IT companies are not same but the company i mentioned above and also many more makes eligible to non IT branches candidate for their recruitment, so mechanical or any non IT students have not only opertunity to go but also many people who have experienced of 10 years or more in IT company from Non IT field just make and develop great things in IT industry still now. You can choose the Course depending on the Course Instructor.
The better your Instructor, the more chance of Understanding the Course well.
