      They raced LCM at the world championship in July/Aug 25

      We already saw how they stack up after Lani had only been training with Boxall for a few short months.

      @m4c4r0n1-l5lthe Boxall effect is interesting. Lani has made a big step forward this year compared to earlier in her career. That must be due to something in her training (unless she discovered PEDs, which I don't believe).
      Boxall's approach worked for Arnie, but my impression is he makes his swimmers train exhaustively, and I suspect the reason Arnie has retired is partly related to that.

      @ASD128London I know. But Lani hadn't yet set the scm wr in the 800

    when did Ledecky stop swimming sc?

    • @ASD128London
      @ASD128London 3 months ago

      She's hardly ever done short course

    • @noveljoe679
      @noveljoe679 3 months ago

      Yes but when did she stopped

    • @ASD128London
      @ASD128London 3 months ago

      @noveljoe679she has hardly ever done SC (25m) races. IIRC she's only once done the FINA cup, and that was after 10 years racing LCM events.
      Of course at Uni there were a lot of 25yard pools, but that's a US rather than world thing.
      Similarly, many other world class swimmers don't do 25m events. For example, where was Summer Mcintosh? Back home, training.

      @ASD128London Oh. So while this is impressive, it's not as huge as the title made it seem?

      @F4m1LyGuy10 yes, the SC records have way less of a chance to be broken, there is the world cup and world championship every 2 years, and sometimes they fall on olympic year so people dont even show up, and sometimes the world cup is done in slow pools and its not possible to even break.
