- This is a description about my grandmother Westminster clock. In the video I referred to the clock as Winchester OPPS. I inherited this clock from my dad. He purchased the clock in Germany in the 60’s. It is a treasure to me.
Very nice fine clock. I think it's very good that you honor your father's watch. If you want to know witch brand it is, unhook the weights and simply pull out the movement with the dial to the front and take it out. This only takes a minute. If it is a brand watch, the manufacturer is stamped on the back of the movement. Best regards and continue to enjoy your beautiful antique grandfather clock.
Nice old clock ,and very nice chimes !
Stuart Dickinson thanks , we love it!!
It has such a mellow and whimsical sound. Beautiful piece
Adam W thank you. We love it
O ra ngerti..basane apa ?
beautiful. i have a 1988 triple chime colonial of zeeland grandfather clock. jauch movement
Thats the Westminster chimes. Lovely clock
You certainly have inherited a very beautiful clock with very beautiful chimes. The clock is a grandfather/longcase clock. The balesters are known as weights. The left one for the strike. The middle one for the clock, and the right one for the chimes. This style of clock was made between the mid to late 1920s to the early 1940s. I notice it has a brass dial which is rare for a longcase clock of this era. Wishing you many years of pleasure with your clock.
james mills thank you for the information about the clock. My dad always referred to it as a grand mother clock.
We second empire home and it fits perfectly in the era of the home. We treasure it
Garden of Weeding Even though your dad referred it to a Grandmother clock I think it is very nice that you continue to call it that as a memory of him. He would be extremely Happy, and if it was me I'd do the same.
Duncan Sheppard I will continue to call it a grandmother clock. You are right after referring to it as that for so many years and could just change it to grandfather. Thanks for your comment 😄
I’m not sure on it, but it sounds like the hammers that hit the chime rods are getting muffled. If you ever get the chance or take it to get it repaired, I’d have the hammers readjusted. That way the rods can ring out instead being muffled. It sounds beautiful either way though, and you have a really nice clock!
my father has that brand name but its a Grandfather clock looks like the one you have but not a grandmother clock though....
I love my clocks we have 3 Antiques from Germany 2 that were bought overseas. The other one is from the United States from the 1930’s
