    Also you can find places of dots using cromatic tuner. You put yoir finger on string and move uitil you will hear right note.

      Only if you are able to fine tune your oud to 100%. My oud becomes flat by 5 to 15% after 2 seconds.

    Thank you, may I ask? My doubt is about quarter tones, acordding to the dot you are showing us, I might say that 1/4 and 3/4 tone would be between the red and white dot aproximately, whether that's true then I may begin to practice all of the theory about maqam I have read.

    Are those measurements independent of tuning or for a specific Oud tuning? If so, what tuning are you using?

    • @OudforGuitarists
      @OudforGuitarists  Год назад +1

      We don't refer to tuning systems in our music in the same way as western music does. But the closest terms you could use to describe it is Pythagorean or Just intonation. I'm trying to avoid the whole tuning question in this video. I don't know if the measurements I'm using conform completely or precisely to any of these western tunings. In many cases we use different intonations and so this music doesn't comfortably fit into the boxes of tunings.

    Hello, do you think this might develop a dependency and not train the ear as well

      It should be treated like training wheels and used for only people who are really struggling.

    I have a 60mm scale length oud would the formula be the same thank you

    • @OudforGuitarists
      @OudforGuitarists  Год назад

      Yes, every time I say divide by a number, it's to divide the length by that number to get the measurement.

      It will be fine if you use a different tuning.
