- Harbor Freight product sanding disc and backing pad mounted on a 41/2 in.grinder .Use these at your own risk since I do not know if the discs were made to use like I am using them....NOTE : I do not get paid by any companies to show any products on my videos
Grinder is rated at 10,000 rpm the backing pad is 20,000 and the disc is 30,000
I'm glad you posted this because I was trying to figure out how the backing pad fits the discs and almost returned it to the store as a mismatch!
Glad I could help ..I took a chance buying this and glad I did ..They do work good ...The edge of the disc wears down quick if you get it at to much of an angle
Me too!
@@not2fast4u2c You got what you paid for, you'll go thru several vs one Norton disc.
I looked up "Penny wise but pound foolish" and your picture was underneath.😂
I didn't know what was going on, this helped the others got the backers that screws on. Thought I would have to buy another one. Thanks for the help.
THANKS for watching
Thank you sir
I struggled with this as I didn't take off the bottom nut from the grinder only the top one and it didn't screw on tight enough. Great tutorial
Grinding discs wear in minutes, fiber disks lasts much longer. Thanks for the video, I could figure out how to install, now I realize I have to remove that thick metal washer from the grinder stud
To the point great demo video, practical and no fluff. Thanks much.
Thanks for Watching...These sanding discs work great
I’m pissed off because I drove 20 miles or more to my local harbor freight and got this set up and it won’t fit on my grinder. There’s not enough threads for it to catch and screw on. Guess I’ll have to return it.
Good video, best I could find to explain how those cubitron discs attach.
Thanks
The shaft of my grinder is short when I fit the flapper disc the shaft can't even reach the thread for the nut 🤦🏾♂️
My favourite for rust is still the resin black strip disks. Little pricey but it's exactly the right tool, doesn't damage the metal, gets the rust of way faster than wire disks or flap disks, or even these backing pads.
I have tried those scrubby steel wool looking discs ..But they wear out quick
not2fast4u2c yup. Still my fav though.
Also they may wear out quick, but I use them at work, and time is money Right?
That will clean the metal really quick.
They do get mill scale off better than flap discs
That works good. I have always used grinding wheels or flappers. Usually or thankfully, haven’t had too much crusted metal. Outside of that log splitter beam years ago that was nasty.
I have a few old rusted pieces of metal that will make good projects..This is a cheaper way to clean metal some of the flapper discs can be $5 each..
The audio is top notch.
THANKS
Great video! Very cool! Thank you!
Thanks for watching....These discs really remove the rust and a lot cheaper than some of the flapper disc types
Dumb question but will it work for a drill with an adapter ?
NO
Buy a grinder because you can get them for a drill but they are much harder to control and in my opinion more dangerous.
That shoulf hog off anything in the way. Cool Jim
Better than those flap discs when grinding off mill scale
they never advertise these in the metal fabricator videos but they are seriously infinitely better than stupid flap discs. They last way longer, grind way smoother, and are just better. Grease em up for aluminum or if they get "loaded" up on your material and they fly through everything
They really work good on heavy rusted metal I have made angle iron from the scrap yard look like new
If that was a car, after you fi ished with the 36 grit and grinder. Would you then move to using vinegar water, to kill the remaining pitted rust? Sorry if I sound inexperienced, getting ready for my first restoration on a 1950 studebaker champion. I just want to do it right.
The only way vinegar works is to soak the metal in it ....They do make spray and brush on stuff that converts and stops rust but I would only use that on a car frame or floor/trunk of a car ....sand /media blasting is the way to do car bodies
@@not2fast4u2c thank you, I'm a very beginner. Nervous as all get out. But looking forward to it at the same time
You sound just like John Goodman
Some people say I sound like John Wayne
