  • What better way to start off the year than to review the 417 EBB from Tokyo Marui, the next step as we’ve seen plenty of M4 variants with blow back. There are things you’ve come to expect but there are also a few surprises! Please note that this product ships without any logos.

      I use a Marui 416 as a trainer. Have owned a couple different brands and designs over the years from AEGs to GBBRs, I'll tell you the Marui recoil guns (SCAR, M4, 416, and now 417) are hands down the best on the market both in terms of a trainer and in terms of a gun you can take out of the box and use stock for years and years.

      Should've said that in the first place then, either way no one is even debating that, if you're in a place where winter slams you to a point your sneezes start to freeze then by all means AEG is better.

    @GamePhysics 9 лет назад +14

    That it sounds the same when it's dry-firing doesn't have anything to do with suppressing fire. If someone is dropping suppressive fire on you, it's the sound of the BB's hitting around you that keeps you behind cover, not the sound the gun makes.

  • @IMPULSE101AIRSOFT
    @IMPULSE101AIRSOFT 10 лет назад +23

    Only metal handguns are forbidden in Japan if you assemble then without painting the slide "white" (erk!)
    Marui is making the best AEG's ever thant are ready to skirmish out of the box. The Japanese power limitation of 0.98 joules may appear a bad thing for some "I wanna make holes" airsoft players, the fabulous hop up unit does permit this nice thing to shoot straight precisely and far.
    Put a lipo in it then you got better response and even a little bit more recoil.

    METAL TOKYO MARUI I'M ASTOUNDED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    • @Hellsong89
      @Hellsong89 10 лет назад

      Its approvement from TM, but its still only a metal and i'm guessing Metal=pot metal.. not steel or proper grade aluminum... -.-
      Also battery configuration... retarded for lipo users, just means more work and waisted money to rip those battery installments off from there. I need to check how well you can get upgrade parts for this system, then i might get one if one comes across when trading.

    • @gearsofwarmad2
      @gearsofwarmad2 10 лет назад +3

      Hellsong89 well the old gen recoil m4s were Ali so why would these not be? I've run a recoil for over a year now and is well worth everypenny spent

    • @Hellsong89
      @Hellsong89 10 лет назад

      George Moriarty How that recoil compares to Gbb's? havent had chance to test one of those before.
      TM might use better quality metal in theyr most expensive guns, but all those guns i have tuned, have had pot metal that is pain in the ass fix when it brakes. Also even if its aluminum it usually has stuff in it like magnesium that you cant tig weld..-.-

    • @daepen
      @daepen 10 лет назад +2

      Hellsong89 I think you definitely lack the material knowledge on different series of aluminium alloys. It is 606x series aluminium alloy, properly T6 heat treated. Your setences, 'stuff like magnesium and welding availability', make me a huge laugh thinking of the time you realise what 6000 aluminium alloys are and gets a chance to know about its real world business scale manufacturing scheme. It is true that you can use lipo for many custom AEGs, but Tokyo Marui is a Japanese company their primary market is Japan, and TM wants to keep their products 'original'. TM does not even sell spare parts separately to their people. Consider a smartphone, like iphone, Samsung etc. Would you complain about their proprietary Li-ion batteries? Not many will, because using different spec battery may harm the stable performance of the product and cause problems, even fire. It works same for TM. TM wants to keep a balance in their battery, motor, gear cycle, blowback cycle, and torque needed for such set-up. This is how TM gained a fame for their continuous performance of their products over the years. Nobody can say anything if you simply do not prefer this gun, but looking at the sombody knowing something wrong, and talking wrong, is not the most pleasurable thing to have here.

    • @Hellsong89
      @Hellsong89 10 лет назад

      Yangee Go Buddy you got great points and true i'm not expert in metallurgia, or welder. I more like this i have and this i can work with guy. For my experience all china metals (i have come cross so far) you cant weld it as its casted so added magnesium burn when you try weld it (this is explanation i got from welder who tryed to fix broken receiver, after it melted). With design of receiver like AR-15 its pretty much must be considering bodys that i have seen broken and broke personally. And yes i treat my guns as real deal in battlefield. Also i expect them to keep up with that.
      Sure it might be really good for Japan market, where TM looks for, but for over seas customers who want to get best possible performance this is utter nightmare.
      I want my guns to be durable as real deal, fixable if they brake, can be modify externally, fully tunable and i'm willing to pay top dollar for gun like that. Too bad its really hard to get hold real AR's that would take gearbox in easy.. or at least here its hard to come by.
      I get how what your saying about business world.. I said what i'm looking and not looking for as CUSTOMER, not from CEO point of view. Also this was only a opinion.
      "Would you complain about their proprietary Li-ion batteries? Not many will, because using different spec battery may harm the stable performance of the product and cause problems, even fire."
      Yes i would and will! At least they are catching up with Li-ion, but mandatory battery...fuck you TM
      "This is how TM gained a fame for their continuous performance of their products over the years."
      You meant to say "lack of performance"?
      What i have seen by people say about TM around this part of the world, its not anything flattering... bad performance, cost/quality is way too bad, quality screening does not explain high prices and you basicly have to rebuild whole thing ground up to get it shoot like it should be! Not so many people buy TM's anymore around here, when you get better gun for half a price.
      TM might have been big in 2000, but after that its just same garbage in different packets. At least this gun looks better than earlier guns, but still i dont think it will be any better.
      I need to check if i come by one for cheap in future and i might chance my opinion about these newer ones.
      For over all TM might be really good company for new comers, Japan and CQB oriented markets, but in full woodlands you dont do shit with guns like TM makes. To be fair at least TM is not for me.

      +Amiel leonard Tokyo Marui is regarded as the best but their guns are a bit on the pricy side. Echo 1 is a good choice if you want a good quality gun that won't break the bank. I own several of their guns and am very pleased. G&G is also highly regarded but their guns are a bit higher priced. ICS would be your other option as their quality is high but in some cases they're not as pricey as G&G.

      Tokyo Marui is know for low FPS. However, don't let that fool you. Not only can you upgrade these, but TM is also know for their hopups. These 300 fps guns stock can outrange many upgraded, 400 FPS shooting guns. After all, fps isn't everything.

  • @swordtofdamocles

    • @lagstyre
      @lagstyre 10 лет назад

      Bad for the opposing side. But when using the gun? I think it'll be noticeable when firing blanks

    • @lenfantterrible3433
      @lenfantterrible3433 10 лет назад +2

      I think you are confused. The Marui 417 functions like the real deal. Trigger stops when out of BBs and the simulated bolt release pops out. If you want a paintball-like upgrading airsoft gun, sure the VFC is better. But if you want an airsoft 417 that actually functions like a 417, the recent Marui release is a godsend. Really happy Marui released this with 16" barrel and longer rail instead of the silly 10" you see from VFC (although they just recently released a 16" themselves). You never see a 417 with a 10" barrel in the real world. Just in videogames and airsoft...

    • @swordtofdamocles
      @swordtofdamocles 10 лет назад

      L'enfant terrible VFC released a 16 barrel on release, it was the "limited" edition. And i have not measured the barrel of my 417 but there is a 12" variant, so that 10' would come 2" short.
      Appart from the trigger stop and the "recoil" its not that different from the VFC one.
      I also dont get how you can say "I think you are confused."? I hope you did read my comment? It starts with "Prefer".
      And whats even the issue with this? "paintball-like upgrading airsoft gun"? what has paintball to do with this? they dont even look remote like a gun.

    • @lenfantterrible3433
      @lenfantterrible3433 10 лет назад +2

      Sword of damocles Yeah the barrel length I'm thinking of that you typically see in only the airsoft and videogame world is 12". The rail is 10". Reason why this makes no sense in the real deal is because you sacrifice so much of the 308 ballistics that you end up with only the power of the 7.62x39 but a bulkier and heavier gun. Only application this might have is if you must stick to .308 or 5.56 (i.e. NATO)
      The Marui's have quite a bit more differences, simulated recoil, simulated bolt stop, feed all the BBs, switchable magazine capacity from actual to mid cap, correct magazine size (in the case of the M4/SCAR/416), fast trigger response, run off of a low risk 8.4v due to how efficient they are, quick change wireless battery, simulated bolt blow back, and shoot at FPS that will get you into any field.
      What I was referring to with the "confused" comment is your comment of "not hearing you are firing blanks is bad". That doesn't happen because the gun feeds all the BBs in the mag and then cuts off.
      The whole point of airsoft is that the guns are like real guns that fire BBs for skirmish. 1000 round box magazines, 300 round high caps, and polar star guns with tanks on your back and I'm not sure what you've accomplished other than paintball without the paint. These Marui's are sweet because they are like taking a 417 and changing the ammo out for BBs. Get some friends with these and play like you would if it were the real deal. You'll build good habits that translate over into firearms and tactics. Be conscience of not doing things that you would not do if you really were getting shot at (taking cover in a dense bush). Get something fun AND useful out of it. My $.02

      "Yeah the barrel length I'm thinking of that you typically see in only the airsoft and videogame world is 12". The rail is 10". Reason why this makes no sense in the real deal is because you sacrifice so much of the 308 ballistics that you end up with only the power of the 7.62x39 but a bulkier and heavier gun. Only application this might have is if you must stick to .308 or 5.56 (i.e. NATO)"
      The real steal/real deal HK 417 only shoots 7.62 this also accounts for the 12" version. There is no 417 that shoots any thing other than 7,62. Its right there on the 417 wiki.
      "end up with only the power of the 7.62x39 but a bulkier and heavier gun"
      And thats the whole point of using a 7,62. If it wasnt about the power of a 7,62, than there would be no use.
      The VFC HK 417 has the same length as the HK 417 "Assaulter".
      "switchable magazine capacity from actual to mid cap"
      The VFC just like TM has midcaps and hicaps.
      "correct magazine size (in the case of the M4/SCAR/416)"
      We are talking about 417, so no. Real one does not hold 70 rounds(logically).
      "fast trigger response"
      Just like the VFC.
      " quick change wireless battery"
      I dont consider this a pro unless you are starting airsoft as a new guy.
      "simulated bolt blow back"
      Its nice if you want it, yet i hear loads of owners with EBB's that they disable this.
      "and shoot at FPS that will get you into any field."
      The VFC has an FPS of 360 or even 400+ if you live in the US.
      I shoot 0.25's with 330 FPS.
      "That doesn't happen because the gun feeds all the BBs in the mag and then cuts off."
      He demonstrated shooting blanks with the bolt catch pushed blabering bout how handy it could be to suppress your opponent making him think you are still shooting and it sounding the same as firing with BB's. Thats what i was referring about, you did see the video right?
      "The whole point of airsoft is that the guns are like real guns that fire BBs for skirmish."
      And thats where you are wrong.
      The point of airsoft is to be able to shoot each other with gun look alike's.
      There is also a good reason why you have 1000rds mag's and what not and you almost point it out your self.
      Because its not real ammo, you cant shoot trough wood or metal with a bb, you can with even a 9mm, due to the limitations of the bb there is a bigger need for ammo. BBs are influenced by allot of things, a 9mm almost isnt.
      Even the best airsoft "gun" with the best BB's will not beat the wind for example.
      You are also saying that you would not take cover from bb's if you can shoot 1000s? and polarstar guns(how dare you even name that shit). Maybe if they shoot 10 FPS, but all the people i see on skirmish rather not get shot by even 1 bb if possible while still taking out others, you are talking about bad sportsmanship if you think that that is a representation of airsoft. I also have never seen a polar star on the fields or any other crap like cyber gun.
      Idk where you play, but i would stop going there if they play with such crap.

    • @BlandEmperor

      Anti-Gravity Gaming it's a replica of the HK417. It's replica of a real steal firearm. Most, if not all airsoft guns are replicas of real steal guns, and this particular replica of the HK417 fires a larger real steal round, the 7.62x51 NATO. If you try fitting a HK416 mag that fires the smaller 5.56x45 NATO round, it won't fit. It's smaller. OPEN YOUR DAMN EYES AND READ THE FINE PRINT
      P.S. I know it's been a month.

      Mathew Payne Tokyo Marui guns are very unlikely to end up in Canada (though some do) due to the fact that they have to be under 300 FPS in Japan, if I'm not mistaken.

    I just dont get that people use high or even mid cap mags. if you want to have 600 rounds in a assault rifle go paintball. The only reason to play airsoft is for realism. So why using 600 rounds in a gun that has 20 rounds in reality.

    • @SugiharaTRA
      @SugiharaTRA 8 лет назад

      I have not been following Japanese laws surrounding airsoft but I am pretty sure there must have been some sort of change in the law that allowed their rifles to be made of metal. All of their pistols and submachine guns are still plastic, while each of their new assault rifle models are now metal. The TM M4 MWS GBBR is even cerakoted so it looks and feels exactly like my real AR-15

      Not really, they sound quite good compared to normal AEGs. They actually recoil, and cut off after last round fired. I am a GBB guy, but for skirmishing they are a good compromise between AEG functionality and GBB realism.
