That was torture! I really love Just for the Summer and The Mysterious case of the Alperton Angels, and I who have never known men is on my all time favorite books list.
Found so many new books to check out through you! I loved We Used to Live Here, it was in my top too. I tried the bracket and I already knew but Eileen by Ottessa Moshfegh was my fave read. I know it’s not for everyone but I loved it! I love thriller, horror, and lit fic, so these and My Husband (Maud Ventura), Strange Sally Diamond (Liz Nugent), and The Vacancy in Room 10 (Seraphina Nova Glass) were some of my faves this year ☺️
I have arrived to the same conclusion - 2024s favourite book for me would also be The Mysterious Case of the AA and Janice Hallett is officially my first autor for 2024 🎉 Happy New year!
This video was so fun Ashley and made me think of my fave of the year. I can’t limit mine to one but my top reads are We Used To Live Here, Return of Ellie Black and Strange Sally Diamond. You’re right. THIS IS HARD!
thanks for the recommendations! The Alperton angels is intriguing. I read "I who had never known men" a few years ago, but I didn't get hooked. Maybe I should read it again (I read my books many times with pleasure) I'm French and I'm reading again a book from Vincent Message, I don't know if it has been translated into English "Les veilleurs" (The watchmen). a man kills 3 people, apparently by chance, in a crowd. Every night he dreams and travels to an imaginary country. This is what motivated him to commit these crimes. Is he delusional? Or are his dreams another reality? Vincent Message wrote the incredible "Défaite des maîtres et possesseurs" ( ‘Defeat of the masters and possessors’). The Earth has changed somewhat. We are no longer the dominant species. Man is no longer the ‘master and possessor of nature’ (Descartes). Newcomers have introduced them to the fate they once reserved for animals... Humans are now bred in battery cages, to be used as food or, if they're lucky, as pets. A cruel reflection on the fate we reserve for other species, we who have forgotten that we are also animals.
I could watch you talk us through a book spreadsheet literally every day of the week 🤣

That was tough. Great reading year, though.
I love how organized your excel spreadsheet is haha 😍 it makes me want to organize my reading in the same way
I live and die by my spreadsheets 😂

Do you have fable?
I wonder if you like the Ernest Cunningham series because he trolls the genre in a playful way
We solve murder was my favorite
I cannot pick a best book of the year. So many good ones.
