You would be surprised at the quality. I have had packages of Qualatex rounds that let me down when Happy Party balloons have not. These balloons pass weather and stress tests as well as comparison tests regarding duration of inflation, color, color saturation upon inflation, etc. I used to laugh at the idea of using ANYTHING except for Qualatex, but You can see for yourself how beautiful these balloons look in the videos and how I am creating the column outside on top of a windy mountain without trouble.
My goodness, you made it look easy!!💞💞 THANK YOU. I will be attempting this for my best friends party this weekend. Doing a dry run tomorrow. Wish me luck. 🤞🏾
Glad you are continuing to post. Just today, I was wondering what was new in your channel. I was out of town in North Carolina in a mountain with no internet. Don't asked me how I survived. So happy to be back.
Lol! Well Iris, there would have been more, but my double-stuffed roses centerpiece has been delayed because I was extremely sick the last few days. I'm better now and will begin filming the vid today. What were you doing up in North Carolina - visiting friends or family? No internet - I used to never use the internet, but since I made my channel my iPhone is on 24/7. Thank you for checking out my new vid - this one has been a big hit and I hope I can keep making successful content like this.
Oh, sorry to hear that. I am glad you are feeling better. We went to Blowing Rock with some friends and my family. The place is amazing and you can connect with the beauty of mother nature, but the cabin we were staying at our phone company had zero signal. I was tough but good at the same time. After a week I got used to. I only had signal when we drove down to town. I hope to see soon your next vid. Have an amazing week!!!!
The secret to making good quads is tying the nozzle very close to the inflated portion of the balloon as opposed to the mouth of the nozzle. Pairing tightly and spinning the quads tightly helps make the quads more like singular building blocks rather than 4 individual balloons loosely attached together. When I first started building columns and arches, it took a good amount of practice to make the quads exactly as they needed to be. I keep my balloons nice and round by not over-inflating them and I smack the top of each before I knot it, which forces the bottom to round out by putting pressure on the top. I have various other column and arch videos that demonstrate differently sized balloons inflated to different sizes but all ending up as quads, so check those out for different visual perspective. Thanks for your question!
When connecting and binding quads, you want to push down on the top-most quad as you wind it on to the others. It will take a bit of practice. If you tie them together too tightly the rounded of the balloons will be distorted, so keep an eye on the shape of your balloons while building a column. The balloons should retain their round shape (not too tight) but should still be very much bound to each other without gaps (not too loose). Also, make sure your quads intersect SNUGLY. Sometimes, the balloons don’t interlock precisely so some slight adjustments will need to be made with each quad. I promise, however, that once you get this process down, you can make columns and arches with relative ease -whenever you please.
I inflate all of my balloons the night before, store them overnight in large airtight plastic bags, and then construct the decoration itself the same day of event. This ensures the absolute best quality luster and shine on the balloons and a low probability of inadvertent popping and/or deflation. I personally recommend assembling as close to an event as possible as the balloons begin to take on a muted, grungy and clouded appearance with continued exposure to open air. If I have a lot of work to do the day of an event, I will straight up construct everything the night before and be out the door in the morning feeling breezy and unstressed for the day. Thank you for your question!
Great video, Thank You!! Doing my first grandson's 1st Birthday Party at a man made lake. What can I use to study the free-standing columns so they don't blow over? Wind should be similar to being out at a park since we will be in the covered patio/BBQ area. Thank you!!
Hi there! I usually use these for indoor events, but my friend Tanya at AskMeForABalloon has many column ideas meant specifically for outdoor events. Check out her awesome videos! Thank you for watching.
Can I use just 36 if I don't want to add the smaller balloons in between? I figured it would look just as great if I used 36 but of 2 different colors.
These columns can be simplified, the sizes can be changed, or you could add extra height. Once you can stack quads, you can discover the versatility in size, shape, colors, patterns, etc. this template provides.
@@BalloonSage Wow, I am so excited to try this, it will change the way I can create at any of our family parties. So very excited to follow your tutorial. Thank you for making it so easy to follow. Keep up the great videos👍😁
Eek! I am not sure, as I made this vid before I would actually size the balloon’s circumferences. As long as each measurement is equal, you should be able to pull this off. Thank you.
Balloon Sage You're a doll, aren't you? Your video surprisingly popped up on my recommendations queue, and I thought why the heck not watch it. I call this video a visual ASMR. It helps me to calm from anxiety. I subbed because you've brought me joy. ~xo
Hi! I always make my columns the night before and then store them overnight with a large hefty bag over both the top and bottom, tied carefully and meeting in the middle. It isn’t the deflation of the balloons you need to worry about as much as the diminishing luster of the balloons, a process that happens when the inflated balloons are exposed to air for an extended period of time. The columns always look their freshest the next day if you cover the columns in two nice big clean bags overnight, plus you won’t have to worry about them the day of the event - just carefully remove the bags and you are all set!
Haha, I believe the columns are about 48” to 58” inches - it just depends on how much you inflate the balloons. Around 4 to 5 feet sounds about right. I am 6 feet tall.
this is amazing!! I just have two quick questions. Could this then be used with a 3 foot on top? And could more weights be added somewhere to ensure it stays put somehow?
Yes to the first question. As for the second, you could technically construct a pole and base plate but I generally like to avoid that column construction method. You could make the bottom quad extra big and make a sand/sugar weight which could be much heavier without throwing off the column's balance. Here is a link to a sand weight on my friend Tanya's channel : m.ruclips.net/video/3JmVRI0c0lY/видео.html
Hi! The only pump I ever use is the Qualatex Dual Action Hand Inflator. I buy it directly from the Qualatex website, but it can also be purchased on Amazon. Dollar store pumps work, but only half as well. I don’t recommend them.
Oh HELL NO! You balloon people are crazy amazing, I do cakes and can not imagine even attempting this within a 12-24hr period. I would be crying with bruised, fingers, surround by balloons and ribbon with my hair standing off my head. Need to tip my balloon artists wayyy more, thank you for video, a big eye opener.
Hi, yes, you have to press firmly on top of each quad and wrap the ribbon several times - binding them together. I like to make figure 8s between the two quads as I attach one at a time. I have other column videos as well that demonstrate it further. This is a tricky technique (column building) but if you practice it it will feel easy and natural in no time.
Balloon Sage I saw that you made columns with baloons and I saw that you attached the tape to the baloons underneath and from there it started to fit all the Baloons with the tape if I make a half-column like that with the ribbon and off It would be okay
I’m sorry, but I’m very confused by your wuestion. I never use tape on my balloons except one single time on a My Little Pony video several years ago. I am also not sure what you mean by a half-column. If you just meaning half the quads used, that’s definitely a viable option. Loooove this!! Looks so easy! Hoping I have some luck. What dollar stores have balloons?
I dont have the hand held pump so can you tell me the inches to blow up each balloon size. Thank you
Hi there - do you have a balloon sizer? Do you have an electric pump? Hopefully you aren’t inflating these by mouth! 🤓
