I swear the defenders and receivers are synced so that the defender gets to the QB at the exact moment a receiver either breaks on his route or clears a zone. Sometimes it even feels like the receivers are running their routes more slowly to give the blitzers time to get to the QB.
I know some may disagree, but we desperately need a new engine for these EA football games. This frostbite engine (A 16 year old fps engine btw) has produced their worst gameplay in the past 20 years.
I feel like the AI logic for user controlled teams vs the computer seem to be vastly different. The computer holds blocks longer. They jump routes better. They never seem to have the problem of just waiting for the wr to catch the ball before making a play. They take better angles. I'm constantly scream why doesn't my player do that? They'll jump 12 feet for an interception but my guy wont even swat at a ball right above their head
Man I noticed the same thing. It’s more noticeable in zone with defense. They react off of you pressing the buttons not necessarily where they see the ball going. Just made defense too OP
It’s very frustrating and in my opinion gives the user two options. Call all cheese plays or quit playing all together. There’s nothing worse than trying to play like it’s actual football. Adjust to the correct protection, audible to the perfect counter to the defense, etc. only to get your perfect play call immediately ruined by incorrect game coding. I quit playing Madden around the time NCAA stopped due to it turning into a cheese video game more than the somewhat realistic football game I craved to play. Seems like this new gen of NCAA will go the same route, unfortunately. They never learn.
I’ve got pass blocking set to 100, and it’s still horrendous. Since the update, this game has been unplayable. Really wish finished and finely tuned games hit the market ready to go day 1. Patches always seem to fix something and break something else.
I think the issues is that on Heisman difficulty it’s doesn’t make the CPU play “smarter” it just literally cheats and makes players unstoppable. Makes your players play dumb and do stupid stuff but the CPU always makes the right decision and literally cheats the game. Heisman difficulty should mean that the CPU plays smarter and has better situational awareness like a user- not making insane plays all the time just for the sake of it being on Heisman. Been an issue long before CFB25.
Oline has been the biggest issue in Madden for like a decade too. It’s absolutely embarrassing what EA can get away with. 2K needs to come back so bad man
Nah in madden I can easily run the ball well or have atleast 6 seconds in the pocket But in this game I get destroyed even if you turn the sliders all the way up to cheat you still only get 10 yards per carry
Screens are damn near impossible to run, even on the easiest difficulty in the game. Play action can be a total death sentence for your QB. Numerous instances of my OL just not engaging defenders standing a foot away or less - just spinning as they watch them run by and blow up my play in the backfield. And this tends to happen more the higher the difficulty. Instead of making AI defenders be more likely to legitimately beat blocks, its like the AI is cheezing/glitching past the oline more and more as difficulty ramps up.
Another thing is with the pass rush . Is that it seems that the defense can easily sack even the fastest quarterback when he’s trying to takeoff out of the pocket with a lane to run. Plus how often they fumble the ball. And for whatever reason, it seems that you can’t throw the football while under pressure regardless of how high your throw under pressure is rated.
Imma do you a solid, on play action, hit the R2 button (PlayStation) before the fake and it speeds up the animation. I wish they actually state that in the game, I just happened upon it. It helps make play action great again.

There are a lot of people who want to play the game casually and not have to adjust the OL every single play. And even then the DL breaks through. EA really needs to address this, idk how there aren’t more people talking about this.
The blocking is definitely broken in this game. Even doing a max protection on a 4 man rush your tackles and tight ends will still let the rush right by them. It's fine if you're playing against friends, but playing in Dynasty mode is totally different.

I literally played a game where I have no time to throw for the entire half. Screens get demolished because I am sacked before I even get to see the receivers, I use slide protection and I still get rushed, I cannot even take a three step drop.
Honestly it’s not just pass blocking…too many times on my HB rtg where I’ve had a big run halted because the lineman or TE ran right by his assignment or a DL magically detached from his blocker and grabbed me
Biggest issues is you cannot substitute players. I'll type this everywhere till I can do simple substitutions and mass 2nd team subs. Beyond basic. Nothing gameplay wise will really get fixed till they make a game from the ground up instead of piling on top of 20 year old coding.
NCAA 2005 PS2… excellent commentary, lots of features that dont exist in CFB 25. Stadium Pulse is really cool, screen shake, Rivaly games, Dynasty and Rivalry trophy cases. Greatest Games scoreboard. User profile records, win/loss tracking for any game played using yor profile. Its amazing to me that EA remove features from their games. So maybe CFB 30 might be back to where NCAA Football 2005 is… 25 years later.

Impact blocking is god awful too, I have clip after clip saved that show a HB Toss play or a screen play where the lead blocker just runs right past the defender running towards the ball carrier in favor of blocking a safety down the field for some reason
Game is almost unplayable now. I’m playing on AA with pass block sliders all the way up as a test and I can’t run a play action or screen to save my life anymore. Consistent zero animation blocking on every second play. So friatrayed
Me personally, I was so disgusted with the gameplay. That I quit my online dynasties last night and I don’t plan on planning the game much anymore. But you’re probably right, the pass blocking is the number 1 issue

Agreed. I am hearing footsteps when I drop back, so I'm getting rid of the ball too early to avoid a sack, and I'm throwing more picks than I did at first. Part of it is skill- I need to do better at directing my line and reading defenses; and part of it is my abysmal offensive line pass blocking.
No most of it is ea not giving you a control to escape the pocket as a qb. You are basically immobile and all you can rely on is the sprint button. Its so much wrong with this game that your probably are unaware of

I think this game has some kind of algorithm or formula or something designed to build a game narrative similar to the “excitement” of college football. I’m beginning to think it has less to do with patching the blocking or a skill issue, and more to do with some kind of game story the developers tried doing. Sounds weird, but all these experiences you’re sharing keep happening to me right AFTER I finally made a defensive stop of my own.
Dude O-Line logic is so bad. I just got an illegal lineman downfield penalty on a Play Action Pass! Not an RPO, a PLAY ACTION! I checked the replay and my dude was 10 yards down the field like wtf!

55? I have it turned to 90 and I still see my left tackle LEFT TACKLE open up his right shoulder, commencing in the action of turning into a literal turnstile. Next thing I know, the D End just walks past him. I love so much about the game. The O Line is so bad it’s making me want to wait to see it get fixed, then I’ll come back. I trust the people working on this game will do right by it, but I need to see more, especially if EA still has its name attached to it

Blocking in general needs to be fixed. I love running counter runs and seeing the offensive line just run in a straight line to the sidelines instead of trying to find a defender to block.

If you win 3 or 4 games in a row in RTG or Dynasty, this shit Jack's up exponentially, even if you're Ohio St vs Ball State. Just so unrealistic. Booooo EA. Anyone else have problems with overalls for players getting changed after the patch? GoldGlove had the same issue with his online dynasty, but i had 3 younger RBs in the 80s and after the patch and the off-season all of them were low 60's. GoldGlove had a red shirt freshman qb drop to 12 overall.
I went out of my way to learn Jet, Scat and Empty Pass Protections through various real life football concepts and still get sacked as soon as the ball is snapped.
I agree with the blocking. I’ll also throw in the punt and field goal roughing the kicker penalties. I’ve lost so many games because cpu hits the kicker multiple times. It’s broken and makes me rage out.
I control my guys and pull back the closest one. It helps. I’ve never blocked a punt and don’t try to. And your QB has to have at least 89-90 speed minimum to survive on heisman. I roll out every play that isn’t a quick hitch or bomb vs press coverage. Sitting in the pocket waiting for routes to develop is a fool’s errand. They will rush 4 and beat double teams.
Definitely in agreement with you the same thing happens to me. It’s like the computer runs into the kicker then they get a fresh set of downs . So you make the defensive stops you need to get the ball back and the computer cheats you out of it.
You're right, it's not a skill issues, I'm not a great player especially when it comes to pass protection, but from the little I can do, the blocking is horrible, the defense just teleports through the line, also what's up with the play clock?? by the time I call my play and attempt to make adjustments and get to the line I'm flagged for delay of game, sometimes I declare they start the clock from 10 seconds from the end of the last play.
I had some moron tell me “this game is so realistic that’s why you don’t like it” and i literally responded with “o line blocking single hand idly breaks realism in this game” 😂. I thought it was fine before the patch, but after the patch, it seems worse. And it seems the behind the line action (hand offs, play action) got slowed
I haven't seen the whole video but please talk about the fact that if you choose a play action play it virtually guarantees your left hackle won't block the defensive end at all. This has been a problem in Madden for like 5 years but it's so much worse here. You could be killing them on run plays 10 yards every time the second you call a play action No one blocks The edge rushers as if faking a run somehow inherently makes you worse at pass block and even though the tackles would still be in past protection regardless and defensive ends just come unblocked into the backfield
Match defense is a problem as well. To see how match is broken: auburn empty trio shock slot option. Defense cover 3 match. You will see your dB’s run into each other and the slot guy will be open 95 % of the time for touchdown.

Lots if this gameplay isn't even bad team vs good team. WVU has one of the best offensive lines in the country and garrett greene is such a fast qb he rarely gets sacked in real life, I believe it only happened like twice last year.
You showed some perfect clips explaining on how the past blocking is not good at all. The sad fact is even if you have a speedy QB, you can't outrun anyone on the defensive line if you need to roll out to extend the play. This game is full of horrible coding / bugs All the way around on every aspect. Even on some of the basic elements of the game.
I don't have any issues I adjust the blocking every play, I will say if you half slide wrong the Blitzer gets right in . But if you guess right or they overload one side well that's also a realistic result.

I went ahead and went to coaching adjustments and put blocking on aggressive knowing I would get penalties… And guess what… I got a holding penalty on the first play after I changed it 😂

I called Nickel Tampa 2 coverage... The middle is ALWAYS open. Always. Why? The LBs run up towards the DL. Clearly they are supposed to drop back into zone. Anyone else getting this?? Lost games because WR over the middle. And the Online blocking on offense. My 2 biggest gripes.....

They broke pass coverage in the patch too. DBs cant cover deep.

Just got Mossed by a WR that didn’t jump. 2 DBs. After pulling back coverage playing over the top, and committing pass.
Short yardage run blocking sucks too. 9 players in the line of scrimmage and they all bust thru and tackle for loss EVERY TIME.

I agree with the blocking. I’ll also throw in the punt and field goal roughing the kicker penalties. I’ve lost so many games because cpu hits the kicker multiple times. It’s broken and makes me rage out.
I control my guys and pull back the closest one. It helps. I’ve never blocked a punt and don’t try to. And your QB has to have at least 89-90 speed minimum to survive on heisman. I roll out every play that isn’t a quick hitch or bomb vs press coverage. Sitting in the pocket waiting for routes to develop is a fool’s errand. They will rush 4 and beat double teams.
Definitely in agreement with you the same thing happens to me. It’s like the computer runs into the kicker then they get a fresh set of downs . So you make the defensive stops you need to get the ball back and the computer cheats you out of it.
You're right, it's not a skill issues, I'm not a great player especially when it comes to pass protection, but from the little I can do, the blocking is horrible, the defense just teleports through the line, also what's up with the play clock?? by the time I call my play and attempt to make adjustments and get to the line I'm flagged for delay of game, sometimes I declare they start the clock from 10 seconds from the end of the last play.
I had some moron tell me “this game is so realistic that’s why you don’t like it” and i literally responded with “o line blocking single hand idly breaks realism in this game” 😂. This is a 4-5/10 and no one can tell me otherwise. This game is just a worse version of madden 25. I don’t apologize for anything just said. ITS STR8 FACTS

I thought it was fine before the patch, but after the patch, it seems worse. And it seems the behind the line action (hand offs, play action) got slowed
I thought I was going crazy, the gameplay definitely feels worse since the patch
100% agree. But ive found dropping back too far causes this issue to trigger more
I haven't seen the whole video but please talk about the fact that if you choose a play action play it virtually guarantees your left hackle won't block the defensive end at all. This has been a problem in Madden for like 5 years but it's so much worse here. You could be killing them on run plays 10 yards every time the second you call a play action No one blocks The edge rushers as if faking a run somehow inherently makes you worse at pass block and even though the tackles would still be in past protection regardless and defensive ends just come unblocked into the backfield
Match defense is a problem as well.
To see how match is broken: auburn empty trio shock slot option. Defense cover 3 match. You will see your dB’s run into each other and the slot guy will be open 95 % of the time for touchdown.

Definitely an issue, my OG will be blocking my C sometimes when I look at the replay and vice versa.
i be seeing a wide open receivers and as soon as i try to pass i get hit and sometimes don't even have enough time to even see my receivers and when i try to run i don't even have no holes to run
Interesting... I have seen this exact quick shed on pass plays by the CPU, it definitely looks like an issue that can be addressed.
Lots if this gameplay isn't even bad team vs good team. WVU has one of the best offensive lines in the country and garrett greene is such a fast qb he rarely gets sacked in real life, I believe it only happened like twice last year.
You showed some perfect clips explaining on how the past blocking is not good at all. The sad fact is even if you have a speedy QB, you can't outrun anyone on the defensive line if you need to roll out to extend the play.
This game is full of horrible coding / bugs All the way around on every aspect. Even on some of the basic elements of the game.
I don't have any issues I adjust the blocking every play, I will say if you half slide wrong the Blitzer gets right in . But if you guess right or they overload one side well that's also a realistic result.
2:55 happens to me every play. I can only gain yards on outside runs if the ai plays zone coverage
Also if you are a left hand QB you can't option. Pitching the ball for left hand QBs is broken

I'm glad youre getting the ball off after all these QB hits. If my QB breaks a sack, I have to run. For no good reason he won't get rid of the ball.
You have to slide right and roll out that direction ive been having success doing that.

I went ahead and went to coaching adjustments and put blocking on aggressive knowing I would get penalties… And guess what… I got a holding penalty on the first play after I changed it 😂

Offline dynasty is broken. Look at the d line on special teams. I had to put those game down and I was excited. I can't buy football games from EA they suck

I called Nickel Tampa 2 coverage... The middle is ALWAYS open. Always. Why? The LBs run up towards the DL. Clearly they are supposed to drop back into zone. Anyone else getting this?? Lost games because WR over the middle. And the Online blocking on offense. My 2 biggest gripes.....
