So happy that somebody finally cleared up the idea of washing your hair according to its type and training it to go longer withought wash .... You need to adapt the routine according to your type and also according to the season - in summer type it gets more dirty from dust and also from heat , so you have to wash it more often. Thank you , Audrey for this video
Absolutely! There are so many misconceptions about hair care, but when it comes to oily hair it’s just crazy. The typical hair care rules don’t apply to us ❌ and if you follow them, you will be left with flat and unhealthy hair 🙅🏻♀️
@@AudreyVictoria the misinformation around oily hair is so bad. i was told to moisturize less, use harsh shampoo and then not wash it for days. it was so stripped from oils that even if it could last 3-4 days, my hair looked HORRIBLE for all those days. now i wash it every 1-2 days, moisturize and it looks so healthy
(this is just for me to remember) 1. brush before showering using a wooden hairbrush 2. massage a light oil onto your hair before showering (not castor or coconut oil) like almond oil, argon oil or jojoba oil 3. drench your hair in water (make sure your hair and scalp are fully soaked) 4. use lukewarm water to wash your hair (definitely not cold, but it does not have to be scalding hot) 5. use a sulfate-free shampoo (make sure it’s transparent) like ojx extra strength tea tree mint shampoo, moroccan oil clarifying shampoo, ouai clarifying shampoo, 6. begin with a quarter sized amount of shampoo, but don’t be afraid to use more to make sure your hair is clean and free of oil 7. make sure your palms are wet and lather the shampoo with your hand for about 30 seconds before applying the shampoo to your hair 8. you can shampoo twice or shampoo your hair in sections to make sure you’re being thorough 9. avoid touching your hair, your hands have oils, and touch your hair as little as possible when rinsing out products (using a detachable shower head helps) 10. only condition the ends of your hair or condition your scalp very little if necessary 11. generally, wash your hair 2-3 times a week
Shampooing twice has honestly made such a huge different in how my hair looks/feels/and lasts!! I wouldn’t even say my hair is SUPER oily, but it is pretty fine and can get build up quickly. These are great tips!! 💛
@@AudreyVictoria I’ve been shampooing my hair 2x all my life, didn’t know it was normal not to yet my hair still looks like its been dipped in a chip pan after a day or two
I have oily hair. I wash my hair EVERYDAY. Actually everyone in my family washes our hair everyday. I didn't realize many people don't wash their hair everyday until I watched hair videos on RUclips.
Did you change your routine now? I washed my hair every day for 6 years. Then everybody said isn’t good, do it 3 times a week. But don’t work for me, I take a shower at night, next day is ok but the second day I should put my hair up which I get so ugly and I use plastic hairband(my english is not well, maybe wrong word🙈). Also I had exactly the same wood brush and I threw it🤔
I have oily hair and I wash mine every day because if I don’t literally the day after I wash my hair it looks like I just sprayed olive oil on my head… 😂❤
Same here :) my family is Japanese and we wash our hair everyday. I've been told in particular that I should wash my hair everyday since its very oily naturally.
She is literally so underrated I love her so much! Her hair tips have helped me so much and my hair has gotten so many compliments from her tips! She’s also literally stunning!
Awesome video as always Audrey! Touching my hair definitely causes oil buildup. Like you said, I do it without even thinking about it. Congrats again on hitting 1 Million! 2 Million is on the way!!
THANK UUUU, it gets so tiring explaining to people that hair training for oily scalp wont work for most people, so many dermatologists advise against this and say its bad to let hair sit in oil for so long! when i tried "training my hair" it got so itchy and so much hair fell out when i washed it... now i do it everyday/ every second day and i lose like 3 strands in the shower lol
Same! the concept was sold to everyone as if everyone has the same type of hair, so for those of us with oily hair, it made it worse and we thought we were helping ourselves lol
The detox ouai shampoo is amazing! I’ve tried everything and that one is the best for oily hair and I also use the scalp massager brush too. Highly recommend! It’s $30 but DEFINITELY worth it and plus it last you a long time as someone who washes their hair everyday
My hair loves sulfates. I wash it 2 times per week to remove the oils i apply and clarify after 2 weeks. Just wash your hair enough to retain natural oils as well. My advice would be to keep a simple hair care routine.
I had permenant straightening a month ago and ever since my hair won't stop being oily, no matter how often I wash it. But I watched this video and it deffinantly helped
Thank you for this video. I was feeling self conscious about my oily hair and being told over and over that I wash my hair too often which causes the oils. I just did this process and my hair and scalp feel soooo much better.
Love your videos Audrey! Your videos have helped me a lot in learning more about my hair and that it's okay to wash more than once a week according to your hair needs. I have been following your advice of shampooing twice and it has been working great❤️ Thanks to you my hair has not been weighed down lately and has been more voluminous✨ Also would love to see more long videos like these☺️
My roots tend to get very oily and my ends tend to stay more dry, I end up washing my hair like every other day or so. It's been a dream on my hair quality
I have oily scalp and dry ends. I only wash 1x/week. In last maybe 3 years I started my hair growth routine and now I have so beautiful and long hair. I use the Redken clarifying shampoo, you recommended in one of your videos and it's SO GOOD. I use it 1 or 2 times/month.
@@fluffinator3701 Redken Hair Cleansing Cream 2% AHA fruit acid. But don't overuse, because won't be good for your hair. But when I use this I don't get oily hair for 1 week. But I guess it's different for everyone, it's great shampoo and lasts so long.
@@Funeral_Mannequin I bought it for €20 about a year ago. 250ml, you need so little it will last for long time. You can just write in Google search redken hair cleansing cream and you will see where is cheaper. They sell in 1 L bottles too,but that would be to much, I wouldn't finish it in 1 year.
These are all great hair hacks! I have one more if you have dull hair or dry hair. Wet your hair completely, put CONDITIONER all over your hair, but don’t concentrate it on the roots, let it sit for 5 to 10 minutes then put shampoo 🧴 on your ROOTS only and then wash it out ( depending on your hair you may shampoo twice ) and then use conditioner on your hair again but ONLY on the MIDS and ENDS this really helped my hair to have more shine ✨ also when you are using conditioner make sure you don’t rub it on the roots because it can cause your hair to be oily
Some tips from an Indian lady with long hair-I would skip detangling and just go in with the oil, castor and rosemary and a carrier, castor being the astringent and emollient for your scalp. Not a lot, just enough to massage scalp nicely. Let it sit for up to two hours in a cap. Then, crucial step, get a good mild sulfate free shampoo and put a quarter size in your palm, add a few drops of water, emulsify, and get it all over your oiled scalp. This is called a dry wash. Massage and squelch on your scalp. Then get in the shower and get water on it and get it to lather. You might need to rinse and repeat with a tiny bit more shampoo but I never do, because you don’t need to irritate the scalp more. Then condition and gently dry your hair. You can skip the leave in because the oil does its job. This method gives you way more leverage to extend time before washes. I go a week. I’ve found adding any products post wash triggers sebum production. So no curl cream or mousse or gel, and if I must, I do a little aloe or a lightweight oil spray, once spray, on the ends. I don’t comb my hair, and I don’t even own a blow dryer. Stop irritating your scalp, nourish it, and treat your hair gently.

I loved your hair video tips and tricks🤍 please clarify for me which shampoos are best to purchase to use on the daily to pair them up with one of the ones you mentioned in the video? AND is a water filter good to buy for the shower or it doesn’t really matter? AND should we brush the hair after it’s semi dry not soaked or wait till it’s completely dry before brushing?
I went years trying to go a week without washing….and my scalp became angry…my hair was falling out a lot…and I started to get a bad rash on my scalp! And my hair was Terrible!!!! I don’t have oily hair…I can go 3-4 days without washing …but I have to treat my scalp as it’s sensitive and dry..now I wash 2-3 ..my hair and scalp are so much better!!! So much more healthy!!!
I part my hair down the middle and do a quarter size amount of clarifying shampoo and work that in the roots from the front to the back of my scalp, then I get a second quarter sized amount and rub it into my hands and going the roots near the ears/temple from front to back, next I flip my hair over and scrub it all in. If I feel any spots that aren't lathering, I will add extra shampoo. I find when your hair is all bunched down from gravity and water that you can't get every part of the scalp that way. So the washing with my head upside down is important
