I just purchased this video, along with 4 others and they are very helpful! Really well explained methods and filmed excellent with the close ups. I liked the tip about using the kneaded eraser for smudging out and blending. I am having problems chosing skin tones so hopefully watching the painting skin tones in pastel a few times will make something click. A lot of info in that video. Thank you!
When I start a pastel painting with willow / vine charcoal the charcoal ends up really darkening those areas too much. Any tips to prevent that from happening?
It's like zen watching a master painter.
love that technique!
SO Glad to have found more videos by this amazing Artist Alain Picard!
You are truly a master of pastel and portraiture. Sargent is a favorite of mine as well. I also like your teaching style.

Try fix
try sketching with a skin tone color pastel pencil or hard pastel. That way the sketch is keyed to the colors of the portrait. Good luck!
