    It's killing me that Unitrunker V2 only supports windows and barely supports any SDRs. I have used DSDPlus and the decode was awful for me, I've heard good things about SDRTrunk and it sounds magnitudes better than DSDPlus but lacks the functionality from what I can see. Unitrunker V2 is freakin' fantastic and sounds better than a THX sound system but it's windows only. I wonder if one could perhaps make it work reliably with wine (A man can dream, right?)
    Thanks for the demo.

      No problem and I have some other previous demos, trust me it sounds way better locally. In this instance I had the audio streaming over vnc and there wasn’t much activity nor was there great bandwidth as the Pi was connected via WiFi and to a slow connection at that. I just blew through the setup, so there’s definitely way more to SDRTrunk that I’m probably not even familiar with. Playlists, recording calls etc.. I’ll have to try out unitrunker, perhaps maybe it supports the rtlsdr via rtltcp?

      @@cemaxecuter7783 I wish. That's what I meant when I was referring to Unitrunker V2's lack of support for sdrs. It won't do rtl_tcp and the owner says there are no plans to support it (Why the heck not?!)
      F.Y.I note there is a difference between Unitrunker and Unitrunker V2. You can only get Unitrunker V2 by requesting to join their Google Groups, and there are posts with the downloads. Still a fantastic piece of software but I wish I could use a raspberry pi with an antenna outdoors or something of the sort.
      I'll have to personally try sdrtrunk sometime.

    How could I set it up to decode p25 conventional frequencies(one frequency trunk)?

    • @cemaxecuter7783
      @cemaxecuter7783  2 года назад +2

      I’ll have to check, If I recall you should see other options available during your playlist setup. There’s also some other options I show on the channel that would work, most likely SDRAngel or Boatbod op25. I’ll have to try it out again as I think there’s a network around here.

      If you open up sdrtrunk and click the playlist editor and then Channels on the box that pops up, you’ll notice a drop down box above clone and to the right labeled new if you have the program/box full screen. Click that drop down and you’ll see there other decoders like NBFM for single channels.

      @@cemaxecuter7783 so in other words; this option is like DSD+ but integrated into SDRtrunk?

      I believe so and you know what, you reminded me - I have in fact used this wine appaimge within DragonOS to run DSD+ (the windows .exe) and then feed it audio from even sdr++ SigDigger etc using the pulse audio mixer and listened to a single channel p25 broadcast. github.com/mmtrt/WINE_AppImage/releases/tag/continuous-stable

      Here’s one example but it was DMR - same concept and pretty funny timing DragonOS Focal "You dropping this toilet off?" DMR Test w/ SDR++ (DSD+, AirSpy, SpyServer)

    I used this but did not like the fact it could not use both my rtl sdr's so i use unitrunk in windows.

      I’ll check again, my understanding is that it can. I don’t have two handy on my remote pi to check, but I can switch between the three SDRs I have here locally. I know you can set channels with different preferred tuners and I think you can have them playing, so I think the same can be accomplished.

      Sounds like the 2nd Rtlsdr is used as needed when the frequency is outside the bandwidth of the first one

      Correct. A single rtl will monitor the control Chanel and any other in its bandwidth then the other sdrs will jump in if it’s outside the first bandwidth. It works quiet well I didn’t realise it worked on the pi I always used it on windows and OP25 on pi

      Almost any x86_64 based SBC like the Latte Panda, Intel Nuc, hackerboard 2, Zuma board, etc can run the desktop build of DragonOS and in turn sdrtrunk.

      I’m doing some research now or rather I guess trying out some different ones. I’m thinking of buying a latte panda, but I’m also needing more power for what I’m looking at doing. I have an older nuc, so I’ll try it with what 2x rtlsdr is what you’re looking at?
