Call at wingtips and tail feathers. You don't have much to lose at that point, if they are coming let them come. Thanks George and God bless you and go get them in the marsh.
The best call beginners can blow is nothing except scouting. See where they generally want to be at on a body of water. Put out half a dozen decoys, have motion on the water, hide, hide, hide, kill ducks. Very rarely do ducks sit around screaming at every bird that flies by. Most time theyre just chilling.
@@TheNewHuntersGuide thete would be much more success had by new hunters if the didn't own a call at all. Sit out, watch how birds naturally work, then start calling after you learn what's normal looking or abnormal as far as body language and movements goes. Then start calling when you see them look intetested.
I've been wanting to get into waterfowl. My late father left behind his acrylic duck call. I tried it once last year and all the ducks scrambled to the next county. I'll try the two calls you demo'd. Thanks!
You might want to start with a cheap $20 call. The Acrylic is certainly the better tool, but depending on the design, it could take more skills to get the simple beginner sound you want.
How have i Never heard about this dude. These videos are pure gold. I subscribed. I am sharing the videos with my buddies, and we are dying laughing and actually getting incredible info! Id hunt with you any time George.
Hey buddy, Wondering if you want to do a review on Herters buckshot. I know you did the Herters TSS. Just wondering what your thoughts are for Herters buck. Thanks for the education
I would be open to it. Probably not a solo video but maybe compare a handful together. I don't have any buckshot though. So I'd have to get hold a few in the future. It's on my list.
Don't hunt were there is no ducks. This is a very good video on calling you are right on your calling. If not for you it would take years to learn calling like this. Very good calling. Thanks George. Ironman is Alabama 73s
I absolutely 💯 % agree with you on all of this information. The one thing I would add and is almost impossible to mess up, and that is the Duck Whistle. And with that my absolute favorite Thind to do with it is a Drake Call and the Teal “ Peep”. I have called in more Ducks with these 2 Calls and the occasional 2-4 Note Quacks than anything else. Even when Ducks had passed by and I done a Drake Call or 2 and a Quack or Teal Peep and they would swing around for a second look 👀.
I was wondering if you were going to make one of these videos. Thanks for the video. Have you found a lightweight rain coat that you like? I need one for deer and duck hunting but don’t want to get too hot in it
Thanks! I have both a Cabela's Gortex rain layer I did a video on last year and a super cheap TideWe rain suit shrsl.com/4ocic that I'm still testing. Haven't used it enough yet to do a review, but its light and cheap, and so far so good.
@@TheNewHuntersGuide thanks. Based off recent and past experience it could be a good topic to talk about how to find birds that aren’t stone dead when they hit the ground/water.
Hate to be “that” guy, but I have to. Hit is not the best word to use. Hut, Hot and hat are all better choices. The reason is because it is hot air. Think of fogging a mirror. The hot air gives a much fuller sound to the call. I DO use hit for a quick, excited chop chop call. But quacks and cadences you want the fuller sound. And by changing the vowels, you can sound like 4 different ducks.
Hey Bret, half of what you just wrote is going to be like trying to figure out Latin for new hunters. You're two steps, maybe two years, ahead of the target audience for this video. You aren't wrong at all, but it's just too much too fast. I remember watching videos and getting advice like yours when I started duck hunting, I just scratched my head and moved on. New folks need the simplest possible starting point to get out there and do something and learn, gain experience, to get the point where they are able to understand more nuanced advice.

Excellent introductory primer for new hunters. This video fulfills the mission statement.
Thank you sir!
Thank you for this! I'll start practicing right now with these tips. The season starts in 2 weeks here!
Awesome!

I like it. I'm not to familiar with it though. We don't have alot of teal for most of the season. Can you link to a good video?

Any tips to eliminate the growling / raspy sound when blowing a duck call?
Can’t figure out why or how to adjust
Could be that particular call. Have you tried a few? Somepeople actually prefer some rasp.
Also, when you want to call ducks, just go to the Pond in Anaheim, California .
Haha, I'll remember that! Ducks fly together.

I want a program for calling ducks and birds with a monthly credit subscription
That's illegal in my state lol.
