For Neon Gravestones, when Tyler says “Promise me this If I lose to myself You won’t mourn a day And you move on to someone else” I took that more as him saying that if he were to go in that way, he wouldn’t want us to just be sad for one day and immediately move on to whatever else is going on or to who ever else goes next after him Like he’s saying like if it were to ever happen he would want us to take out time to mourn and remember him and not just rush through it like a trend To me it didn’t come off as him saying to please move on to someone else after he goes, if it were to happen in that fashion Not sure if I’m making sense but that’s how I interrupted those lines in the song
Most of my favorites from Trench were not my favorites after first listen. Some grow on you, but others get a boost once you see how they mess with it when playing live and then it adds to it -- for me, at least.

I remember when the album dropped and I listened to neon gravestones, it was nighttime and I was in bed and the moment he said ribbit mourn for him and to move to someone else I was bawling my eyes out because I could never move to someone else, im just so happy he made it so far and having kids I’m just so proud of him. as someone who has been at the bottoms of the pit and still am crawling and trying to get up little by little, he and josh have been helping me so much ahhh I love them so much

I honestly can't get enough of the Brooklyn versions. Should defo introduce them to these.
I like the Brooklyn version of Smithereens better. It's not all that different, but it feels more personal than the album version.
