I will buy this just as soon as waterslides are available. One of my favorites variants aside from the high mobility R2. This will definitely need a matte topcoat as well.
It does look good, I will admit. Still though; I think it would have been better if it got the master grade treatment. Using some of the amazing 2.0 Zaku frame with some new modifications and moldings. If the 2.0 Alex was possible, I think a mg Zaku 2 FZ with a 2.5 frame would have been cool to see.
RE Zaku Kai joints just way better than MG Zaku 2.0 joints. Zaku Kai can cross his arms which not possible with Zaku 2.0, articulation just way better.
That is true. I think though it would have been a great way for Bandai to introduce a 2.5 or 3.0 Zaku frame. The 2.0 Zaku is a bit dated and in need of some improvement.
This kit is poorly sculpted and honestly sad which pisses me off cause the Zaku FZ deserved better. I own the 1/144 HG, the Robot Damashii, and the old 1/100 conversion kit of the Zaku FZ. The head looks over sized and the proportions seem to be all over the place compared to the line art and the other recent Zaku FZ kits. It appears by comparing older releases that they used the box art/ model kit design of the original 1989 release of the Zaku FZ as the basis of this RE line design choice. The forearms and legs suffer a great deal from a blocky redesign that lacks the smooth prominently rounded shapes found in the line art especially in the arms that made it into every version but this one. This kit comes off as a rushed unrefined 1/100 representation of the Zaku FZ. My guess is it was rushed into mass production without being refined so it would be ready to sell along side the MG Alex to maximize potentially short term sales from people buying it as an after thought with their MG Alex. Not sure if they were going for a quick increase in this year's quarter sales for the shareholders or just not giving a crap but either way its sad to see this Zaku not getting more love and tender loving care put into the design because more than likely we wont see a MG of this Zaku FZ now.
@@ZakuAurelius Yeah. It looks just like the old 80's 1/144 scale box art. That kit suffered from looking compressed. It's kinda like they looked at the old kit and stretched out the design honestly which would explain a lot of the proportions. They should of took the Robot Damashii design, blew up the scale in a computer and just retool it into a 1/100 model kit. I think I might heavily sand down the inside of the forearms to look like how they should, expend the forearm plate at the wrist slightly, sand down most of the kit cause of proportions and design, change out the tubing with springs, 2.0 articulated hands, and especially sand down the head to make it smaller. It has the articulation... just needs a lot of work to fix what Bandai screwed up.
Safe to say there will be a Unicorn P-Bandai version with a color swap and Bazooka.
Out of the two new WIP kits, I like this one more. Zaku's are awesome in their simplicity.

It looks really good, better than I thought it would
Cool! I was working on mine during my lunch break today.
Any plan to color the zaku kai? If so think the rubber hoses would be any trouble?
Definitely picking this up when I can to have it posed with the Alex. Looks way better than expected.
This is totally my favorite Zaku!
Sorry Aurelius lol
*Straight to the feelings*
besides the lime greenish color this design is pretty sick. the head seems to be shaped a bit long but overall seems legit
Had my doubts but it actually looks pretty good!
Looks rad. I'm excited for mine to ship out in the near future.
Still love this zaku, but apparently only in animation because I feel like this new scale for the kit really exaggerates its...bulkier proportions.
hope this kit get revive hg
Oh man looks so Slick!
Looks amazing out of box
Oh hey, Aurelius has 100K subs...
wait, wHAT?!
I love this one!! Gotta get it :)

Lack of detail making it looks like a beefed up HG

Unfortunately it’s really very close to the original illustration, which is just kinda ugly in its proportions so it was cursed from the start

Color is ass though. Needs a repaint badly.
