Love this!!! So true, every point! I just recently had to call out one of my chanel SA’s who was so rude to me during a transaction, that I just said never mind the purchase. No bag is worth my dignity, I refuse to be treated with such disrespect!! I receive better service and manners from local Walmart employees!!

Totally agree with you. The sales people are supposed to provide good service, and yes, it's their job. And it's totally fine if we don't purchase anything before walking out the store.

I haven’t seen anyone saying that Orans are basic. The truth of the matter is that in current climate Oran sandals are not going to get you a bag offer in the US at least. People talking about it are not making things up, they have factual information from clients that have been trying to get bags. And they share that information to HELP not to make anyone feel intimidated. If someone loves Oran sandals they should go and get them. But expecting a Birkin or Kelly to come with that purchase is very naive. I’m sure there are one in a thousand offers like that, but statistically it’s not likely. I think trying to say that it’s otherwise is wishful thinking.
Also, all luxury fashion stores work on commission basis. That’s the way to incentivize the SAs to sell pricier items. Doesn’t mean you should be treated poorly buying a low commission item, however preferential treatment will be given to clients who spend more. Just the way of the world. No need to feel intimidated by it.

Thanks for pointing these things out. I'm exploring a few luxury brands and doing some research lately especially on Hermes. It's a bit sad to know that there were awful experiences out there and in many cases you really have to work for it to get offered a bag (common here in Australia). But you're right, it's also worth noting that there are many other positive ones that we don't know about. I haven't gone inside an Hermes store because of this, like in my head, what's the point of going in when you know that you won't get the bag that you want. I've had positive experience with Chanel, Cartier and Loewe. The staff were nice and were able to show me that items that I asked for and they were happy to serve me even if in the end I didn't make a purchase. I still remember the SAs as it was just this year. If ever I am to go make a purchase, it would be nice to see them again as I think it's the little things that makes a difference for me. :) Thanks for this video and sharing your honest thoughts with us.

Totally Agree 💯 I feel exactly the same! I’m the customer. I get to browse, take my time and ask my questions. The SA is there to service me and do their best to make a satisfactory sale. How they are compensated is really up to the company and it is also up to the SA if they want to work for such company its environment.

Okay so I’m Asian American, and when I walk into a boutique, I think the staff assumes I am mainland Chinese, so they send the Chinese SA. Cultural differences being what they are, the foreign SAs tend to be more pushy IMO, but are very attentive and heed your every word, likely because they are pitching to tourists who want to spend money but may not have a lot of time. When I do get western SAs they are a bit more careless, like I’m trying to look at a product in the case and they are blocking it so I have to go around, or they take a minute to look at their phone while I’m trying on a bag. So yah, when I do go in just to browse and without a goal I’m more likely to get deterred if I go in person.

A lot of these luxury companies pay their workers very littte basic salary. The SAs must sell a certain amount per month to keep their job. The SAs are hired to sell. It’s not surprising that they want to figure out who would really spend. They may miss some customers who don’t dress expensively. But it’s good enough if they get the customers who are willing to spend. They have to make a living.

Good if you have the time to window shop and think after that for a purchase. With luxury stores, the issue is stock availability. It kind of makes you feel like you had to decide quickly, so it helps if you know what you are looking for. Also, I guess there are just too many bad shoppers around that are rude and so entitled that wears down the service in these stores. SAs are there to make sales and hit store KPIs, service is just part of it. Look, it's fact that if you buy more, you are bound to be treated differently. Any business would be the same.
If you want something, just have to play the game. Just how it is.

I agree with many of the things you mentioned for the most part, but do remember individual experiences are all different and if someone says they are treated differently by what they wear I’m going to believe them the same way I’m treated differently by the color of my skin. We have to be mindful of each other’s experiences in life. I guarantee you that if I dress down and walk into a high end store my treatment will be 100% different from many others and that’s because of my appearance.

I think that in general when you dress nicer, you get treated better when you are shopping in a luxury store. The reason is because the sales person will automatically think you can afford the items in their store. That’s just how things are in sales. Anyways, thanks for making these videos. I find them that be really helpful.

I think we need to take everything on RUclips with a grain of salt. People are sharing their experiences but it doesn’t mean it will be the same for everyone. Especially in Hermes, I do my things and I don’t pressure myself to buy certain things to get an offer. I’m working with my SA and it’s awesome, I don’t like to try to copy people because I don’t think it’s the way to go. Every store and SA is different. And yea never feel pressured to buy a luxury item, the SA don’t make a sell with every customer that step in the boutique. It’s the way it is. Taking the time to think about a purchase when it’s very expensive it’s just a smart thing to do.

Great points but I don’t think it’s just bc of the compensation. People are entitled and rude across the board. Why? Bc there’s never accountability. Why? Bc you fire someone and you get sued for xyz.

I think those ppl who care too much buys self esteem when they buy luxury. More information is better than less information in the H game. I would say makes things easier when I’m better prepared.

Sorry I keep on commenting but I was responding in real time as I watched your video. I think you made great points and everything you said is 100% true. You are very smart but seem to lack confidence. Please don’t be offended, I hope this is taken as constructive criticism as I come from a good place in letting you know about this. Something about your childhood or background seems to make you feel embarrassed. Please don’t be, I guarantee your harshest critic is yourself. The only opinion that matters is yours.

I think that companies should share the wealth with their employees. I don’t think they should be charging $10,000 per bag yet paying their employees say $1,000 a month. I think a lot of companies have begun to be morally and fiscally RESPONSIBLE and they should be to their employees as well as their stakeholders. I would hate to walk in a store and spend my money in any institution knowing that their employees are struggling and not being treated fairly. “I don’t think I should be concerned with what their being paid” , kinda reeks of an elitist attitude and seems snobbish.
