You're right, of course... I agree. I keep coming back to this take and it always sends chills down my spine. This is just superb music from four exceptional artists!
Hi guys, I received this message: "When you lift songs, you could at least get the names right. The song on youtube featuring Abercrombie & Brecker is Hippityville, not Ethereggae. There was no trio of Abercrombie, Johnson & Erskine--Brecker was taking a break. It was a quartet. I was the director and producer of the Village Vanguard series. If you really respect the musicians, and the video, you should get the facts straight."
Because of a wrong name, the guy says I don't respect musicians... I've seen so many TV shows that featured wrong names... Guess they have no respect for musicians also... Anyway, sorry for the wrong name, I hope everyone that watches the videos understand they are from the same concert (and that includes a TRIO track). Cheers ans thanks for your comments!
Incredible! I think Marc Johnson sounds fabulous on anything that requires the open E string. (Other stuff too, but that seems to be his forte.) Anybody know what on earth Abercrombie's guitar is? Furthermore, is he looping that little background riff?
Those are japanese. And i must say that i love it, their incorrect spelling of english names are sometimes hilarious as nothing else. They release alot of bootlegs, making me laught at the spelling and - whats more important - sometimes reveal hidden treasure on some bootlegs just when misspell during googling something. all cheers to that.
@Modes9 I thought John played a great, musical solo. He can't spew out Brecker goo, but his lines are very solid and tell a story...and he sounds like himself...that is pretty hard for a lot of players to attain with consistency...but generally...yes it sucks to have to follow Brecker!
What kind of guitar is Abercrombie playing? At first I thought it had an extra strap from the top of the body to the head, but in decent light it looks like something else.
what a sound!! What a sad loss for the world. Thank God for recordings

@fiddlercrab3 It's one of the Roland guitar synths, not sure of the model.
