You can kind of understand Claire wanting to do the lead vocals constantly but it is also understandable why the others would want some of vocals as well. Maybe not Claire's fault totally but say for someone like Perrie from Little Mix, she did not want to be the total lead vocalist for her group when they tried to push that idea on to the four girls when they became a group. She wanted it to be fair to all of them which I think was wonderful. Of course there have been many boy and girl groups who have only one or two main lead vocalist but for me I prefer the groups where you get to hear them all at one time which is something Steps have learnt because they do this now in their group. Even Take That has at least four of them sing even though it was mainly Gary with Mark and Robbie a bit more prominent than Howard and Jason. However Jason NEVER want to lead any song or do vocals on his own as Gary as mention even though he was offered.

having the ins and outs of their break up, i have come to dislike H. on the face of it, he seems really affable and likable but actions speak louder than words and his actions speak of connivingness, selfishness, political manouvering and hypocrisy. i also remember him in the big brother house when shilpa shetty was brutally hated on. i was really surprised he wasn't more vocal in her defense - he seem to spend most of the being pally with the racist bullies. that behaviour says a lot about his character and now makes sense in light of revelations of their break up and his part in it. i don't think he's actually a very nice person deep down. i think he just thinks he is but he says one thing and then goes off and does the most unscrupulous treacherous things.

Maybe there really is a reason why they split up and how they were formed in the first place. I mean if STEPS had the original line ups then their songs will be different without Claire's vocals. It was perfect. The timing to form this band was perfect. Their songs were all amazing. You'll never know when is your right time about your purpose. To me, they gave happiness for me. One day, I want to give back happiness to people.
I agree, she does have the BEST voice out of all the others. Even when they did the reunion and perform " the way you make me feel", everyone else's voice cracks besides here's that still sound the same.
Regardless, the other members weren't treated well. They all harmonise very well together, and treating the others like they don't matter isn't fair to them. Each brings something to the band. The break up especially was bad. H was involved with the manager and left with Claire while the others were just dropped and had to deal with things alone

too bad, but I think the reason why Steps had the most distributed lines among its members was because they were outspoken about it, i think if not for that, they would have been back up singers like most other groups where there are only 1-2 lead singers..though it took its toll on Claire, but she should understand she's in a band, if she wanted solo songs, she should have auditioned as a solo performer...
I still can't believe that they managed to keep the act up when things were seemingly so awkward towards the end. I guess when you get a group of people together the way they were then there is bound to be conflicts and different personalities. It's easy to forget that even at the end Claire was only 24 and it's a lot to go through been under media scrutiny and having to maintain the upbeat persona 24/7. Faye and Lee were always my favourites and having watched the reunion show it was noted that they seemed the most realistic. I like that Faye and Claire had a hug at the end of the final show (According to Claire's book) as I do genuinely feel that Claire was fairly close to Faye even if they were different regards going out etc. Somehow I get the impression Claire and Lisa were never particularly close. Anyway the reunion show was extremely interesting viewing and though they have fizzled out again I am glad they did seem to clear the air, albeit that they had all spoken prior to the programme been made (Apart from Lee and H)
Pop stars start to believe the cheers of the crowd and think they are something special. Together with the image, songs, choreographers, producers etc, the whole package is special. Individually they are ordinary.
claire's voice may have stood out but as she does solo.. ah well it didnt do well.. it only shows that 5 members build what steps is so popular .. YEs 5 members..H..Lee..Faye..claire and lisa.. all 5 of them contributed their shares ... not one less... i love their tandem how bubbly they always are to each other.. no fan will be happy to see them break apart..
The UK is lucky because to this day there hasn't been a successful Co-Ed in The US. The Party (who were former Mousketeers), Scnee 23 (US Popstars) and even The Defranco Family didn't go far.
I'm glad they have ironed out all their dirty washing ;^; somehow I feel the break was beneficial... because as much as I love them I don't think they would have lasted all the way up too now. P.S: Faye is by far my favourite! ♡ although I have a soft spot for Lee and H makes me laugh too.

One of the Members Nile Rogers became a successful Record Producer who worked with everyone from Diana Ross, David Bowie (RIP), Madonna & Duran Duran (When they were a trio). Tony Thompson would later be the Drummer for The Powerstation in the 1980's.

I don’t really understand why Faye and Lisa felt affronted. It’s blatantly obvious that Claire was the major vocal talent. Faye is good and blends beautifully on an alto line with Claire. Lisa… well… she can barely hold a tune.
