  • The Aga Khan Museum program Music for a New Day presents a special springtime concert from Tehran with internationally acclaimed kamancheh virtuoso Kayhan Kalhor.
In a rare performance playing the setar, Kalhor presents a composition themed around spring and renewal, evident in the tempo, which builds to an intense fervour and takes flight.
A musical prodigy who was performing in Iran’s National Orchestra of Radio and Television by age 13, the Grammy-Award-winning Kalhor is recognized as one of the world’s leading composers of Persian classical music.
Kiya Tabassian, musical director for Music for a New Day, was a student of Kalhor and considers the maestro his mentor.
Presented with the support of the Government of Ontario.
