    Excellent presentation, I could see how that would totally stiffen up the front end for a much more stable ride. Thought you'd show the triple tree installed, but wasn't necessary, good show.

    Greetings, I have a 2006 Goldwing that has been upgraded by Max and company with everything they have, shocks, triple tree, brakes, fork brace and I have to say my wing performs like a rocket on a rail. I just put the triple tree on it 2 months ago and rode as a Road Guard for RFTW (RFTW.US). I could do things with my wing that no one else could because it handles so much better. If and when Max comes out with anything else I will have it installed. My wing has 72,592 miles on it and I won't trade it for anything. My deepest thanks to Traxxion, you make a Goldwing a Rocketwing.

    I already had the AK-20 forks and the rear Traxxion shock on my 2003 Wing along with a fork brace. The Traxxion wing is simply awesome and superior to the OEM Honda suspension....especially if you ride two up. I finally got around to installing the Traxxion trees while I had my bike tore down for suspension maintenance and boy what a difference it makes to the bikes steering and overall feel of the bike. Even though I was riding for years with the Traxxion suspension, I didn't know what I was missing without the aluminum trees. If you want your 01 to 17 GL1800 to be the best it can be, you want these aluminum trees along with the AK-20 forks and the Traxxion rear shock

    I love my Traxxion Dynamics suspension full Monty too. Had 5500 miles on my front tire and it was starting to noticeably cup. 800 miles of Appalachian mountain roads later it was smooth. I haven't had any cupping since. If you are thinking about it that means you are dissatisfied with stock... so just do it!

    So in trying to understand what is happening, is the top clamp rotating on the center tube?

    • @Traxxion
      @Traxxion  10 месяцев назад

      In what instance? I don't really understand your question. Are you asking about the twisting?

    • @Daveinet
      @Daveinet 10 месяцев назад +1

      @@Traxxion For the lower triple clamp to twist as shown in the video @7:25, this would mean the top clamp would need to rotate. The tubes are held in two places. Or more accurately, when you twist the handlebars, the top clamp would rotate, while the bottom clamp stays stationary. Is this correct?

    • @Traxxion
      @Traxxion  10 месяцев назад

      @@Daveinet What you are imagining would be true, except the opposite side moves the same amount in the opposite direction, so the clamps don't move in the center on the stem.

    • @Daveinet
      @Daveinet 10 месяцев назад +1

      @@Traxxion Don't move or don't rotate? It seems like if a manufacturer put the top clamp on a splined shaft, that would prevent the twist, assuming that is what is happening.
      Not sure why my '04 is so bad. First thing I added was the fork brace. That helps, but still leaves a lot to be desired. My GL1200 was so much better. How could Honda have forgotten so much of what they previously have learned. I had a GL1000 bagger. Once I installed the fork brace on it, it made it handle nearly as good as the GL1200.Truthfully, at slow speeds or even drifting was much easier on the 1000. Its amazing how Honda could have failed so badly on the 1800.
      I am seriously considering the triple clamp kit. Its more about the trouble of installing it, than the cost to purchase.

    • @Traxxion
      @Traxxion  10 месяцев назад

      @@Daveinet For reference, the floppiness was intentional. If you look under your lower triple clamp, you will see it is a hollow scooped out shell. Virtually all motorcycles, including Hondas, have a diagonal web under the clamp that triangulates the underside of the clamp, and that web adds a ton of resistance to twist. Honda didn't leave that out by accident. They were compensating for the horrible suspension in my opinion, trying to find bump compliance. In 2012, when they "reintroduced" the bike, they added a web back into the clamp, but put it parallel across the clamp, which has absolutely no effect at adding any rigidity whatsoever. That, plus putting 20wt oil in the right fork leg was the "significant upgrade" to the suspension for 2012-17.
      If you put our clamps on your bike, it will blow you away. It's a massive improvement. Also, not sure what brace you bought, but if you bought a Superbrace, that thing needs to be replaced with a better one. There's only two that work right, ours (Traxxion) and the Kuryakyn one.

  • @Bass.Player
    @Bass.Player 5 лет назад +3

    First thing I noticed on my first 1800 was the lead/lag in the forks, it looks like they just used the front fork off the Honda 750 and stuck it on a goldwing! Some GW riders say their bike does not have flex and they think I'm nuts.
    This is also why the front tire cups no matter how many time you balance it.
    I wish I could afford those trees you sell...

    • @Traxxion
      @Traxxion  5 лет назад +1

      Cupping is caused by lack of damping control in the forks. When we install proper working cartridges, the tire will never cup again.

    I just ordered a Traxxion fork brace to replace a Superclamp that was on my 2004 GL1800. The forks have the AK-20 upgrade. Will the triple clamp upgrade make that big of a difference if I already have the brace installed? Should I return the brace and simply upgrade to the Traxxion triple clamp or do I need both?

    • @Traxxion
      @Traxxion  4 года назад

      Hi Darell, both are required for the most rigid and responsive steering. The brace covers about 35% of the flex, and is the easiest and cheapest way to improve the steering on the Wing. The clamps cover the other 65%, but are more expensive and labor intensive to install. But together, they are a MASSIVE improvement to the feeling and response of the Wing.

  • @jamesweber4938

    How much does the fork deflect when you use a 2012 - 2017 lower triple tree in the same test ?

    • @Traxxion
      @Traxxion  3 года назад

      Exactly the same. The little web they put into the clamp has absolutely no effect at all. It is placed improperly to do anything. Where they put the rib is right on the twisting axis, so it is a waste of metal and time. The web needs to go from the back of the steering stem to the front of each fork tube bore to triangulate the structure. This "honeycomb" effect is what adds strength.

    • @jamesweber4938

    Hi Max, really appreciate all your videos and how you take the time to respond to comments and questions. Watching your presentations and doing a lot of research has convinced me to upgrade my F6B’s suspension to Traxxion Dynamics. I do have a question regarding the use of All Balls steering bearings. I had a conversation with the service department at Honda Powersport in Ohio and was told that the All Balls bearings causes a dramatic decrease in low speed maneuvering ability, making the bike very difficult to steer because the rider has to literally “fight with the bike at very low speeds”. The mechanic said that they will eliminate the mid speed wobble but that it sacrifices the very low speed control ability. I was told that they have guys bring them in to have them uninstalled because of that.

    • @Traxxion
      @Traxxion  4 года назад

      That would only be true if the bearings were over-torqued. We've done thousands without any trouble.

      @@Traxxion thanks again for the rapid response. I saw on one of your videos that your recommendation for torque is a strict 21 with a digital torque wrench and considered that over torqued bearings would cause that problem.

    I got the so-called Mega-Monty from a guy named Monty a month ago on my 2009 (sort of new to me). Why Honda, a mega-corporation, does not offer Traxxion as an option is a mystery to me. IT could be an easily installed option by the dealer (Monty did it in 7 hours in his Garage). The handling of the motorcycle is undeniable. Yes, it is a pile of money but I ran my 2006 250k miles before it reached the end of its life cycle. My 2009 had 43k on it so I figure I have at least 200k to enjoy this massive upgrade. I hope to get to your shop and take a selfie someday soon. My 2009 sends its love. PS: Your authorised installed in Windsor CO is a super guy. Monty and his wife Cindy are the best.

    I drag bag with it lol and definitely notice the noodley feeling... I've replaced the stock tires. could the steering head bearings be bad from just sitting to cause this... I've seriously considered riding down to you to have only you guys work on the bike as you guys are very knowledgeable with this machine.... thoughts??....
