Love these old matches. Irish kit back then was beautiful. The huge R appearing in the top left when there's a replay....love it! I think a few years later, the tech progressed to a level where the R blinked during the replay.
I love the "R"s too which is a really sad and bad thing. The Romanian TV "R" was a big r/ flashing with a little "R" was the best in my controversial opinion. Belgian TV had a funny "H"...i need to go on..

@@proudman6598 I think it's true to say England's cricketers are from all over the place. Ben Stokes born in New Zealand, Joshua Archer Trinidad and England's greatest ever White ball Captain was aptly Irish. 4 years residence gets you international eligibility in cricket.
Ireland Vs England Football, Lansdowne Road, Dublin City, Ireland 1978 2117pm 7.9.24 i was also 7 years old when this match was played. cos i was not becuz i wanted to denigrate the facts of another's life... nice to see england play a bit of football today ie: running on to a ball played and trying to run into space as a ball was to be played. the players kept forgetting that side of things, to some degree, but then when they did get their arses in gear it looked a nice sight..... one layer making a point of allowing his team mate the chance to score.... score? sometimes it pays to score a goal. as opposed to drugs or something.
Those were the days my friends, we thought they would never change, Ireland was led by a most brilliant English/Irish man of the world Jackie Charlton and his gang of fighting boys who came from England/Scotland/Wales/Ireland and a little bit from Italy, They all fought with Irish hearts. But changes happened at today it is different. Now we have Today we have an Irish/English man managing the English team and more than half of his team has got Irish blood running through their veins and with names like Gallagher, Grealish, Jude, Kane ( my 2nd cousin), Maguire, Maddison, Rice, Philips,. So Come on England. Very sorry for my error, I mean, Come On Ireland

I totally agree. The pitch was an absolute disgrace. You could not even make out the lines around the penalty area.
