I'm very fortunate to have joined a group with a pretty solid name! We're an all-male a capella group on my college campus called "Varsity Men's A Capella" a simple name that still has a solid presence but is pretty straightforward!
I'm in a newly formed high school a capella jazz group from Arkansas. Arkansas being the natural state we decided on Natural State of Mind as our name.
If I recall correctly, one of the members of the not-yet-named Blue Jupiter suggested "Staff Inflection".
Good one CJ.
My group is out of University of Wisconsin: Parkside. The mascot for the school is "Ranger Bear" so the students are known as "Rangers." We decided to call our group "Range" as a result. That quickly evolved into "Parkside Range" to make the administration happy.
Casually starting a group, 5 of us, 3 female voices, and 2 guys for bass and beats.
Was thinking of "Attunement" as a possible name
Great vid Deke! I love your arrangements!
So I'm in an a Capella group at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. We've been a group for 5 years now and our name is 'Pitch, Please!'. Recently, we have had thoughts of re-branding ourselves as '4-0-Tunes' (402 being the area code of Lincoln, Nebraska). What are your thoughts about the name and re-branding in general?
I think there are multiple groups called "Pitch Please" across the US (a google search will bring some up), so having your own unique name is a plus from that angle alone (why make it hard for people to find you?). I like the new name, check URLs to see what you'd be able to get, pretty sure no one else has that name so 40tunes.com is likely available (although of course you may get some people confused and calling you "forty tunes" or typing "4-(letter) O - tunes"... just things to consider... but likely worth whatever you settle on so you have your own, regionally specific, unique name
I'm making a new group, seven members, and I was thinking of the name ELEVA7E. I've asked a bunch of my friends and I haven't heard any opposition yet. What do you think?
Hey Deke! Great video! I’m starting a group and there’s four of us so I was thinking “Fourever.” I can see how that would be confusing but we’ve kinda warmed up to it at this point. Would it be easier if we did “4ever”? We could possibly do that as a logo or an abbreviation. Like how Ptx is very recognizable as Pentatonix.
Part of the meaning behind our name is that we’ve known each other forever and we plan to be friends forever. So the name is kinda cute and sentimental in that way. Let me know your thoughts if you get the chance!
It's not a dealbreaker by any means, Joe. If you guys love it, go for it! I'd first check what's available as a URL, as that might effect your choice of spelling.
Deke Sharon Okay thank you!
