I can do pretty good realism, most of the time people think my florals are photos but it doesn’t move them the same way as my abstracts. It’s a whole set of extra skills to control raw emotion and paint from intuition.

Great topic. Dali lived and breathed his art while collaborating and expressing via all of the arts. Kahlo was able to make sense of her world through painting while suffering through 18 surgeries and a pole through her pelvis. Duchamp explored his art in many ways and is not the sum of a toilet or a not a pipe. These artists continue to inspire and call us to walk a mile in their shoes.

There is only one answer, Andy Warhol is the most overrated “artist” if you can even call him that.

    2:57 OMG LIKE....
From Experience having visited Reina Sofia Museum over and over and over again. Having seen Dali's watercolour in my local museum. Having studied Dali's life in depth due to my personal interest and Dali and Lorca homoerotic relationship.
I can testify Dali was, very, VERY satirical with fascist regimes. EVEN, when he aligned with our dictator.
He is a controversial figure for whatever woke shit people want to say nowadays.
But the truth is, he was super determinated to become the new Velazquez and he did. He followed the steps of him, he aligned with whom he had to. And along the way, he slapped faced at those who feed him as well.
edit: this part portrayed me the lack of education problem in the US and awareness on the rest of the world. if something is professional art education useful for, is this.

I believe that visual art is only the result of using material that necessitates washing your hands when finished working

What is art - skill or expressed or evoked emotion? IMO, it's components of all three.
    Great discussion!

AI art can only learn through looking at the work of existing artists. To me there is nothing creative in that and so it is not art. They are also drawing from this repository and so will all look so much the same. And you can tell. Use it for ideas but that is all

I think that art is about having a soul to soul connection. AI doesn't have a soul

AI art - human initiated, AI generated. Don't we all do what AI does? We all draw from others artwork that inspire us (pun intended 😜). Pinterest being one.
AI happens to learn quicker than a human.
If we were to tell AI to get rid of the one thing that is a threat to earth, it would probably destroy Humans, therefore it is our duty to teach AI, that not all humans are bad and want war. Who else can teach it compassion? it's a cop out if you say let the other guy do it, it's not my thing.
If everything is created by God (Col. 1:16), then wouldn't it be naive of us to dismiss it? It's man who corrupts not the machine.
Thank you for reading my perspective 🙏 lol. Sending love to you all x

I'm not even a big fan of Frida Kahlo, but she was definitely expressing way more than Rita Vicari's art. Now that is uninspiring art.

I will never understand the appeal of a Rothko or the high value placed on them. As for Abstract vs. Realism, I think both take skills but just different types of skills, and whether one is better than the other is subjective.

From Nigeria i am watching you. I like what you guyz are doing out there. I most confess it's really amazing 👏. My own point of view or observation concerning the topic on screen is that we all have our want, like and desire when it comes to personality threats or our perception about things we see or like is based on individual perspectives. So take for instance some people like things very flashy or what we called gblim gblim! So might want it natural then should I tell you another part that will shock you? Some people who don't even have an idea of the whole thing but they just go out and buy whatever they see as an artwork they buy. I think they both will always sell but the originality makes the difference which is real painting with brush is the best as long as it is painted well. 😊

The difference between digital art and AI art is that one is human made, the other is not.
By the law of intelectual property, you cannot have intelectual ownership of something you have not creater.
I am SO done with this conversation of AI.

I like the whole spectrum of creating and art. I like traditional materials, digital art and experimenting with AI. Isn´t art about beeing open and playful? BTW love this series... Kind regards from Vienna :-)

I believe AI can create great and beautiful images, but it will always look plain. When they create a robot that can paint on a canvas with different mediums, that is when the competition will begin.

    What’s interesting is,
If they don’t like your comment and disagree with your opinion, even if you’re nice about it and follow guidelines ,
your comment will literally disappear here.
Making fun of Frida Kahlo and even mentioning her name in this way,
    is disrespectful and shallow.
Could have used any other artist ….
What message is this sending about artists with severe disabilities?
Think about that woman’s story for a moment and put yourself in those shoes.
Now paint in your bed with whatever part of your body can still hold a brush for a moment.
Then come back here and make this public statement in a video about it.
    Real artists have real lives.
    They’re not usually glamorous.
The reason we’re driven to create is deep and personal.
As an art teacher you would think you understand this.
And the fact I can’t comment without being censured by you, is just incredibly anti art and freedom of expression.
You’ve lost me as your subscriber as a result.
    Substance is where it’s at

I'm sorry you take it this way but being disabled doesn't automatically exclude you from criticism, nor your art becomes flawless. I believe that as long as you put yourself out there in one form or another you should be ready to face different opinions about your art, and that is ok. Disabled people can also learn and evolve their art, and thinking that a disability should make an artist accepted without question is a very wrong approach in my opinion.

That’s all true what you’re saying,
And yet Frida Kahlo did indeed make it and her work if you’re lucky to own one, is worth a lot of money and collectible.
      So the question then is:
Not ,whether or not she is overrated and deserves her fame or place in the art world,
      But rather why ?
      Why did she make it?
Have a good study session about it and ask a lot of questions why this could be.
      And me personally,
I’m really happy she made it and her work is famous.
Because it gives me hope for the world and the art world as well.
That we are not just drawn toward shiny glitzy objects themselves but also the stories behind them.
Or sometimes an otherwise overlooked aspect comes forth because of the story behind it.
I think this is true for Frida Kahlo and I think someone perhaps comparable, say Emily Carr, who’s paintings themselves aren’t necessarily the worlds most outstanding pieces of art but she represents a time and a place and a personality along with a story that makes that work.
And I’m glad that’s a factor in the art world because it gives it depth.
It’s what makes art not just vain and plain.
      Is what I’m sayin’
And thank you I mean no harm other than feel passionate about this because of my own experiences as an artist
