Thanks so much for this review! I was fairly competent in my Cromwell, but have struggled with the Comet. Your gameplay footage will be a great help. For future reviews, it would be fantastic to see at least one example of you playing as a bottom-tier tank against tanks two tiers higher. Those are always the most challenging games and it's really helpful to see how a good player handles those situations. Keep up the fantastic work.
Thank you, Quickybaby, for showing how to play this tank. For a while, I was afraid of having to drive this on the way to the Centurion. You've helped me a bunch! So now I know that I don't have to load up a bunch of gold to play this machine every battle.
Just wanted to say thanks for opening my eyes to this tank's capabilities. I was on the verge of tossing the entire British medium line yesterday when I came across this video. I decided to give it one more try and your advice literally provided a night vs day difference in my gameplay. Got my Mastery along with Top Gun and 5 kills in a tier 8 battle. I'm absolutely loving this tank now.
Enjoyed this review so much. Also seen the last of the three replays live. This video shows most of the reasons that make the Comet my favourite tank in the entire game. Thanks QB.
I appreciate this video, it helps to highlight some of the key tactics and techniques that can be employed to make the Comet the really effective tank I know it can be. The Comet is a tank I really want to play more often but like many people below I feel that its strengths are less obvious than some other tanks and consequently it's ignored by many people and so not seen as often on the battlefield. What I found particularly enlightening was the fact that although teamwork is often the best way to win a game in the replays the Comet was actually able to carry many of the situations almost solo....more often seen as the role of big bruisers T29's and IS's etc. One thing that does work in the Comet's favour is the fact that arty often ignores it, either it moves too well or is just not seen as a big threat. I shall play it all teh more enthusiastically from this point forward. Thanks QB.

Just got my comet a few days ago and I love it already. I've only been playing about 2 months but I think my favorite tank type is medium from tier 6 and up. Luckily they just started the Road to Centurion AX so I'll be going for it for my first tier 10. Cheers mate for a great review.
thx Quicky you have convinced me to train for the comet , for two reasons , my father was a gunner driver in the British army and its the Comet that he drove for his last few years in the army and secondly I think this tank will suit the way I like to play this game
Inspiring video. I started grinding the British line after seeing this and the reviews of the Cromwell. Can't wait to get the Comet after playing a while with the Cromwell B.
the comet for me was the turning point in my gameplay when i started to learn the ins and outs, how to carry some games and use the strengths to my advanages, but i sold it for the cent 1. i was considering re-buying it and but after this review im re-buying it as fast as i can
Clearly the programmers failed to include the best feature of the Comet with the 77mm gun. The one feature that made the Comet worth fielding in WWII was it's use of a spin stabilized discarding sabot round that could penetrate even the heaviest armor of any tank then on the field. It made the Comet one of the best tanks to be in during the drive from the Reine to Berlin. The Comet was the first use of a discarding sabot round in warfare.
I personally love the comet just as much as you do, but I couldn't quite make it as effective as I would like to have it be, so thank you for all the tips and tricks QB!
Thanks for the review QB, I was really hating this tank, but I did just get the second turret yesterday and am working on the 77mm gun now to be fully upgraded. looks like it is a really good tank when fully upgraded, so I will continue to work on my Comet driving skills and hopefully it will become much more enjoyable.
Absolutely loved mine, I had 60%+ win rate with that beast without using any gold ammo. Sure it was a bit more sluggish to drive compared to the Cromwell but the RoF was damn good and the turret could eat quite a lot of shots. Frankly speaking, the gun and pen was more than enough to decimate t7-8 tanks from the sides when flanking. After all, it wasn't meant for frontal attacks or even leading a push. I did also notice that enemies would often ignore it due to its low damage per shot which nevertheless adds up over time.
I agree - one of the biggest advantages the Comet has is that enemies often underestimate the threat it poses, much to their chagrin! Many are the battles where I hear the grumbling, "oh no, we got a blankety-blank COMET on top..." By the end, I've done 3000+ damage and taken out a third or more of the enemy team! A good crew is also a key to success. My Comet has a crew with 3 full skills each, and 1 of those is BIA. It is an absolute monster!
So, I ground this tank out stock (although I did have the top gun already unlocked from the heavy line) and although the stock grind is not great (the top turret does make a big difference as you say, and I was using a 75% crew), fully upgraded, I am really enjoying it and not finding the lowish penetration as much of a problem as I thought I would. I like high rof guns and am enjoying the Comet so far. :)
I completely agree with you QB the Comet is by far my fav. tank in the game it is my stress tank for when I get worked up over my S-51 and IS. Only tank that might come close is KV-2 which is basically the complete opposite of the Comet but I still love them both.
I really don't get it why so many people complain about the Comet's gun pen. It's not ment for shooting at the front armor of enemy heavy tanks. Sure, you can, but the Comet is a perfect flanker and can double up as a pretty good active spotter in games with tier 9 tanks. I have 83% Win Rate in my Comet, with almost 1000 avg. exp. per battle, and I never used a sinngle prem ammo shell on it. The gun is accurate, and you can snipe with it, BUT it's far better used my putting accurate fire into enemy sides and rear, while on the move. Also, the high RoF is perfect when you enter a dogfight with an enemy tank, as it lets you re track the enemy vehicle more often, increasing your mobility advantage, and the not too great aming time doesn't matter at close range.
I'm 85k thu my comet grind. If this thing had a bit more pen it would be a keeper. Stock is pretty bad, you're a slower Cromwell with more hp, but bigger guns shooting at you. that said, i dont mind the lower speed. 61 KPH on the crommy usually got me into trouble. comet is fast but not "oh god im too far forward" fast. It is pretty flexible but i hate how long you have to expose yourself to kill a target, and the prem rounds do so little damage for the money. ...then again its pretty funny to embarrass an E75 because he wasnt paying attention to you as you shoot him in the side over and over.
I ammo racked an IS-8 today killed him with 1388 hp left got him in the side using auto aim......I love this tank thanks for convincing me to go down the british medium line :)
Thx QB! I played Comet some months ago and I hated it, ending up selling it, promising myself not to buy the piece of shit again. My main problem was that I played it like the Cromwell and that didn't work out. Now on the other hand, after watching you play the Comet numerous of times, bought it back into my garage too give it another chance. Yesterday I got my ace in it, while carrying vs T9 tanks, with a 90% crew. So thank you QB, for teaching and learning me to enjoy to play "the piece of shit" :)
QB how come you use 22 rounds of prem ammo? I only use 10 and work just fine and rarely use them, even when facing E-75s i flank. you should try it ive been making 80K silver a round on a win
I like to repeat this lesson often: track traverse listed in game is listed for the stock power-to-weight ratio (and ignores terrain resistance); you have to adjust for the upgraded engine and extra weight from modules or equipment. This is why even though the listed track traverse for the Comet is the same as the Cromwell, the Cromwell actually has ~62 d/s and the Comet ~36 d/s (on roads). I used to play the Comet a lot, but I am sick of low penetration guns and slow turning mediums. The depression and turret are nice, but don't negate the downsides for me.
leaf12496 lol, well nobody ever seems to learn I guess. It's unfortunate, because when people are looking at what tanks they want to get, track traverse is a mystery to them and they might get unpleasant surprises.
I love my comet, it's my favorite tank in the game, its just so adaptable, I'm surprised QB didn't mention the hit-points, although it's no more than any of the other tier 7 mediums, tier for tier it can take a lot more penetrating hits than its tier 6 predecessor could. thats one of the things that sets this tank apart from a lot of the other low alpha-high DPM mediums in the game, Although you shouldn't recklessly waste that generous HP pool, it's very useful to have.
Got the comet yesterday. Put my 4 perk Cromwell B crew in it. First match, second class badge. Second ,arch, second class badge. Fifth match, first class badge. Only eight matches so far but I love it, maybe more than my crommy B.
I found it a bit disappointing at first, coming from the cromwell. But after getting used to it, it definetly beats it in almost every aspect. Most pleasant "grind" for me so far...
The A34 Comet is a good AFV if tankers fight the tank as it was designed to operate. Glad that you did a fair review on it. I love the tank and it was one of the tanks that I had a lot of fun in =^^=
The biggest advantage of Comet over the Cromwell is a possibility to mount the v.stab and much better accuracy on the move and after the shot. You barely have to aim in Comet while in Cromwell you have to spend a second or more on aiming even in corner fight. This means, you often can put 1-2 more shots into the enemy and get back in cover without taking any damage while in Cromwell you have to decide if you want to make more damage or save your HP for later. Situations like that are very common and Comet is clearly superior in that regard. And this comes from Cromwell fanboy who started playing Comet just recently.
This tank does have a steep learning curve, but if you stayed on the Cromwell for a while, you'll be at home with this tank. You can still race around and flank and gank, and even circle most on tier opponents. another aspect is this tank has a really low profile, so it can use dips and holes really well, and can get under many heavy tanks guns in CQC. you can sit and snipe weak spots with it, and permatrack opponents in higher tier tanks so that your team can help finish them, and then burst out when the fight moves into your favor. and of course, the turret is surprisingly bouncy, and this depression is insane for its profile, so hill fights are great for it. I have stabilizer, camo and binos set on mine. in high tier fights, I sit and snipe until my team has them distracted and then I run up to gank. in on and top tier fights, I shoot n scoot. it took me a while to get used to it, but eventually, it became one of my best tanks in the garage.
I get the feeling QB does so well in the Comet due to psychological effects. His repeated mastery badges, assuming they are more often for him in the Comet than other tanks, indicate /he/ plays better in the tank rather than the tank playing better. Or alternatively that the tank is particularly dependent on mastery for success, so that the average good player who hasn't specifically mastered it hasn't dragged up the ace tanker requirement.
i can never seem to bounce anything in this tank, i have gone hull down and Cromwells have gone straight through my mantlet. I just dont know what to do in it, i cant bounce with its turret against tier 6, i somehow get penned through my mantlet, i cant circle heavy tanks in it, in tier 8-9 i cant pen anything frontally and i am just a big box that everything pens me, dpm is the only thing going for this tank (in my opinion) and tanks never just sit still and let u shoot them.
This is a tank with a high skillcap for a reason. You have to think a few steps ahead so you get the oppertunity's to use the dpm and pen. Amd yeah, don't count on the armor to much
The Comet is an excellent tank... I didn't like it that much... but I was not very good at it... Just couldn't get used to the lack of penn on the gun... WHich is probably why I liked the Centurians so much more, particularly the Centurian 7/1... This review inspired me... however... to try again... It's been a while... but I'll be fine... I'll just play it like a Cromwell... try to use the gun depression and turret armor at first... and then go full Cromwell mode...
Literally can't get this tank. It seems like it doesn't have the armour or the camo rating (pick one) to push. The gun to snipe and the speed to keep out of danger. What am I missing?
What do you think of the Panther QuickyBaby. Personally, I love it but it took me to get used to the low alpha but quite high RoF. Is it a bit like the comet?
Hi there QB, im a WoT Asia server player, and i am agree with you that Comet is a great tank despite its weaknesess. To be honest, I continued to play cromwell till I get Comet because I was very very very inspired by your game in the comet and I decide to play as I've learned from you and has manu good game with it, cheers
Hi, How about switching stabilizer for optics mr Quicky? What do you think? I got my Comet couple of weeks ago and still figuring out how to make best use of it... From your review it seems to be a strong candidate for a 'permanent' tier 7, one that will not be removed from my garage....
My favourite tank along with the Firefly. WoT still not putting the Firefly in the game is crazy. Id like to see the full length Firefly gun as a later upgrade to the slightly cut down version on the Comet.
Now I'm even happier to level my Cromwell. When I began WoT I played so many times in TDs. Then I began to love this high firerate - low alpha damage tanks like Crusader and Cromwell. I hope the Comet will be as awesome as the other. :D
My reaction to the stock Comet was the same with how people react to the stock T25/2 But after I grinded(And free xp'ed) The top gun and turret are amazing :D. Glad I re bought it.
Love my Cromwell but this review has me looking forward to the Comet. I like this style of game play and I think I'll like the Comet. I'm wondering if I should sell or keep the Crom now. Thanks for the vid.
If you play tanks with high alpha damage like 300, 320 or 390, if you know how to use peek-a-boo tactics well, and if you are a good overall player you would never let comet shoot constantly at you. And most players are not able to penetrate every their shot with that low penetration, especially if you are showing your front armor to them. I think there were more situations when i killed a comet with my kv-1s (i know, its OP) that situations when comet killed me, not to mention tier 7 heavies
There is one amazing thing in this video check the end of the first game top player on the other side was driving a CGC :-O Should get a medal for that.
Some times I prefer the comet over the centurion because I feel that it takes less time to pop in and out over cover in the comet then the centurion because of the size of the centurion and the distance difference of the front of the hull and the turret
I'm going to be honest, I haven't been enjoying the comet much but I've never really given the new turret a chance but it all just boils down to that pitiful damage per shot. When I just see a small fraction of an enemy tanks health bar it doesn't do wonders for my will to press forward but the gun depression is very nice
I got the Comet yesterday, used free xp to get turret after i had my daily double, now after 28 games its fully upgraded, but ill be honest, im not good at all in this tank, i find it gets mostly tier 8 games and i dont have a premium account so i cant keep using gold shells which makes it frustrating coz i cant pen a lot of tanks... Im not saying its bad, im saying that im bad in tanks that lack penetration...yet, ive had a few good games in it so far...thx QB for the review
i liked the comet and i just finished the grind on it. i didnt like it until i started using vents, rammer and binocs. i also dont think you are using the tank properly if your shotting at the front of heavies. so the lower pen is not really an issue if your shooting at the sides of tanks other than the kv-4. i use the comet as a scout in tier 9 games and that why i use the binocs instead of vert stabs.
Good mobility, adequate gun, superior turret, superior gun depression makes for a better all around tank. The crom is much faster and has a better gun teir for teir, but its turret has no chance of bouncing and it cant go hull down very effectively because of its mediocre gun depression. Crom is still an amazing tank, but the comet is more versatile imo.
Hey Quicky, awesome tank review of the comet! (In particular this video since i have never really thought much of or been impressed by the British medium line) Keep up the great commentary and reviews! Could you do one on the JagdPanther? :D
I have just bought the Comet, enjoyed the Cromwell (got a mastery badge). Just 1 question, is the Comet like the Cromwell, if not how Should I adapt to use the best of the Comets ability?
I'm still figuring this thing out...working my way through to the Centurion, about 41k along right now, but I can't seem to get consistent results (well, other than consistently bad). Not sure what I'm doing wrong, but I can't seem to figure out exactly where I should be most games in it to prevent getting killed early. I've noticed that I'm most effective as a sniper though.
I love both the Cromwell and the Centurion 1 but I just LOATHE the Comet, and I don't know why. It just didn't sing to me, it was a pain getting through to the Centurion. But it was worth it.
I didn't realise that the Comets DPM is so high. I thought it was crap due to the penetration and didn't pay the DPM anymind. I guess if you can make it work then its great, but its also worth remembering that the T-20 as an example can still have a higher DPM if your shots don't penetrate in the Comet. Also the gun could do with some changes. A whole tier for a gun with 5 more damage and 3 more penetration. Really WarGaming?
You'll love it when you get to the Centurion 7/1 and have the wonderful opportunity to grind out 45'000 xp for a bit better RoF, accuracy and aim time :D
Some people (eg. HF15) call Comet as Pudding Tank, I don't know why. Perhaps it has a shape of an inverted pudding with that funny looking stubby tail on its back. Fittingly, QB was feeding his comet crew 'pudding & tea' for improved crew skill! BTW, I'm surprised to see you played just one T18 game? stats at 30:30
I managed to get an radley-walters in this tank (on a defeat), but I just am not good enough to take advantage of it, so I will have to go back to it when I improve.
You forgot to mention that a Large medkit is pretty much a necessity on this tank, my Comet crew loves to play facecatch with tank shells. I love playing it other than that
Well I was thinking about comet as a crap tank but thanks to you I'm going to buy it! I have my personal best result in cromwell 10 kills so really thank you for made me think different about comet...
I can't wait to get to Comet! Only one more tank to get to it! I find all the tanks in that line to be awesome tanks! I managed to have massive games up to Crusader. I can't wait to put Cromwell and Comet to work.
I quite like my Pudding and don't think the gun is underpowered at all. Sure, a bit more penetration would be welcome, but when flanking and shooting at weakspots the gun works quite well anyway. I always carry a few premium rounds, but in most matches I use only maybe 2-3 of these. Compared with the other tier 7 medium tanks I owned I found the Comet to be very clearly the best one for my playstyle. Generally tier 7 mediums are rather meh, so the Comet was a rather pleasant surprise.
I hope you enjoy this review of my favourite tank!
I'm LIVESTREAMING in 1 hour!

Great video QuickyBaby! Always informing me on the best tanks! Thanks mate!
wow, just in time, just re-bought the comet :P

Dammit Quickybaby, i was planning to go some sleep tonight.
That T-43 in first battle was using HE because he was using 122mm derp gun.

One of the best reviews you've ever made QB! Good Job!
Yeah, sometimes DPM (damage per minute) is better than DPS (damage per shot)
I wouldn't recommend using the DPS acronym as it is Damage Per Second in most MMOs use the term Alpha - i.e. initial dmg.
Oh, thanks for the info quickybaby :)
I was afraid that people would not understand or maybe something will be wrong...

QB...i dont get it so many prople complain about the commet haveing 148mm of pen...if you look at the t-43 abd the kv-13 they only have 144mm of pen!
And KV-13 performs very very good. At least in my case.
Lazic B. KV-13 is my favourite tank in the game!!
Lazic B. Absolutely love it
Rafik Amhamdi Hahaha! Same here! Although I have bunch of other mediums! :D
Lazic B. Oddly enough, the kv-13 is the only tier 7 medium I fear lol, whenever I drive the comet
The A34 Comet is a good AFV if tankers fight the tank as it was designed to operate.
Glad that you did a fair review on it. I love the tank and it was one of the tanks that I had a lot of fun in =^^=
Comet is so awesome! I picked it because of QB a year ago and I absolutely love it. I was able to reach 65% winrate
On 12:47 did he mean the 76mm gun than the 57mm gun(sorry if I'm wrong) :P.
I'm from Belarus (thanks for flags, btw), but noone from russian-speaking moviemakers can do as good tank review as u did.
Thanks! It really helps.
I have stabilizer, camo and binos set on mine. in high tier fights, I sit and snipe until my team has them distracted and then I run up to gank. in on and top tier fights, I shoot n scoot. it took me a while to get used to it, but eventually, it became one of my best tanks in the garage.
thanks QB for the video, i just got my Comet, and ur video helped me how to play it..its a beast..cant wait to upgrade the turret..greetings
I don't know what kind of magic Comet you have, Quicky, but everything pens the front of my turret. Everything.
zomgl2pnoobffs The Comets turret has been nerfed since this video
i can never seem to bounce anything in this tank, i have gone hull down and Cromwells have gone straight through my mantlet.
It's because the tank has been nerfed since this video.
+QuickyBaby What skills/perks do you recommend for a comet?
Literally can't get this tank. It seems like it doesn't have the armour or the camo rating (pick one) to push. The gun to snipe and the speed to keep out of danger. What am I missing?
Greg Rogers Tactical insight, it's a tank you have to create your oppertunity's in and read the pace of the game well
What do you think of the Panther QuickyBaby.
I love your logo "it's a trap!"
Hi,
How about switching stabilizer for optics mr Quicky?
I suggest Tank Inspector for tank reviews Quicky Baby. There is all the infnormation at one place
My reaction to the stock Comet was the same with how people react to the stock T25/2
But after I grinded(And free xp'ed) The top gun and turret are amazing :D.
Glad I re bought it.
Love my Cromwell but this review has me looking forward to the Comet. I like this style of game play and I think I'll like the Comet. I'm wondering if I should sell or keep the Crom now. Thanks for the vid.
Everyone should try watching this in 1.5 times speed. It saves time and sounds kind of awesome. ;)
I watched it at x2 speed :D
Thank you, I was thinking of getting this tank, and now I will give it a try.
Thankyou I brought the Comet but was having some trouble with the vehicles stratagy so thankyou for this video.
Video really helped me in playing the Comet. Nice job mate.
QB, why don't you use Tank inspector for armor characteristics?
P.S. It also shows you the amount of armor when angeld :)
QuickyBaby, which gun do you use when starting out on the Comet? Am having problems in the Comet being stock and all.
I believe you get the 6 pounder but u go straight to the 75mm Vickers because u researched it on the Cromwell
But you do realize that the rate of fire gives this tank amazing dpm, right? It breaks tanks
+Daddy Drew but the second a tank with good alpha damage comes around the corner you're pretty much dead
+Elijah Gibson If you're in a position where you have a high chance taking damage from a high alpha tank, you are playing the Comet incorrectly.
What do I think of the Comet? No idea, I am on the Covenanter, grinding my way to the Comet.
i liked the comet and i just finished the grind on it. i didnt like it until i started using vents, rammer and binocs. i also dont think you are using the tank properly if your shotting at the front of heavies. so the lower pen is not really an issue if your shooting at the sides of tanks other than the kv-4. i use the comet as a scout in tier 9 games and that why i use the binocs instead of vert stabs.
I was frustrated with the so-so guns. Once I got it fully upgraded I fell in love with it!
Hell of a tank, absolutely love my Comet.
Yes love this tank as well. Didn't think it would be a good as the Cromwell, but it is actually a better all around tank.
Your joking
Good mobility, adequate gun, superior turret, superior gun depression makes for a better all around tank. The crom is much faster and has a better gun teir for teir, but its turret has no chance of bouncing and it cant go hull down very effectively because of its mediocre gun depression. Crom is still an amazing tank, but the comet is more versatile imo.
In my opinion the best Tier VII medium tank is the VK 30.02 D. I just love that fella xD
Hey Quicky, awesome tank review of the comet! (In particular this video since i have never really thought much of or been impressed by the British medium line) Keep up the great commentary and reviews! Could you do one on the JagdPanther? :D
Quicky, is that a Belorussian flag I see on your Comet?
+William Heayn Yes, it is
I have just bought the Comet, enjoyed the Cromwell (got a mastery badge).
***** Yes, 20-30 games for what is essentially the same gun as what you've just been using.
For the benefits you get it's not worth 45000 xp
***** You would grind 300k xp to get 0.4 second aim time? Well ok, suit yourself. Other people have better things to do though I'm afraid.
Some people (eg. HF15) call Comet as Pudding Tank, I don't know why. Perhaps it has a shape of an inverted pudding with that funny looking stubby tail on its back. Fittingly, QB was feeding his comet crew 'pudding & tea' for improved crew skill!
BTW, I'm surprised to see you played just one T18 game? stats at 30:30
i had the cent 1 and sold it because i preferred the comet + its my favourite tank ever
I love playing it other than that
Hi, will you be doing some reviews of the new historic battles?
Well I was thinking about comet as a crap tank but thanks to you I'm going to buy it! I have my personal best result in cromwell 10 kills so really thank you for made me think different about comet...
How do you have access to the vertical stabilizer on the Comet? I don't have access to it on the SEA server, not for the Comet or Cromwell.
Ignore this, there was a scroll bar i didn't see. lol derpy derp
3:07 yeah I think the 'Cromet' is a great tank
I got this tank and after I unlocked it's turret I became in love with this tank
The T43 had the 122mm howitzer... it does NOT have AP shells, only HE and premium...
Excellent as always!
I can't wait to get to Comet! Only one more tank to get to it! I find all the tanks in that line to be awesome tanks! I managed to have massive games up to Crusader. I can't wait to put Cromwell and Comet to work.
The DPM bar chart made me happy.
YESSS!!! Just got the Comet today and then.. QB uploads it's review! :D :D :D
Thx Quickybaby
I bought the Comet and i had very nice games
I really love this tank now Thank you very much
The T-43 was using the 105mm derpgun so HE ammo was predictible...
What about reviewing the Russian T-43 and T-44. I've invested too much time in the T-34-85 to start on the British medium line right now.
Favorite tank? 50-100 FTW, but best tier 7 med is probably the A-44 simply because 300 alpha.
420 matches in the Comet. Hmmmm.
Have had the Comet researched up for quite some time and will hopefully be buying it soonish.
Thanks for the review QuickyBaby! I had been wondering how to play the Comet for a while and now I finally have some idea how too play it. P.S.
P.S. You forgot to mention how to take down the Comet on the battlefield :)
Huw Lines its easy. Shoot at it, the armor isnt going to save it. Have a gun that has over 120mm of pen and high alpha
