Once And Again --- A Door, About To Open (Book Club Scene) (Season 1)

Final episode of Season 1, a scene in which Lily and Karen unexpectedly encounter one another during a book club reading. Karen is reciting a passage of Anne Tyler's "Saint Maybe" referring to "the woman who changed my life."

The momentary eye contact between the two women speaks volumes regarding the real-life implications pointing to Lily as one who has irrevocably changed Karen's, as well as Rick's and her children's, lives -- forever. As if in defense, Lily, in black-and-white interview mode, completes the passage for Karen: "People changed other peoples' lives every day of the year; there was no call to make such a fuss over it."

Later, Lily and Rick discuss the realization that the time has come to act on their mutual feelings for each other's children, and to begin integrating their families more, immediately.
