I was not at this race, but I was at the round before this at Brainerd in 1978 watching essentially the same group of cars. That Greg Pickett Corvette still looks extreme over 40 years later.
1978 Trans Am Road America as a twin heat affair. Greg Pickett 1st Cat 2 Greenwood Corvette SuperVette 427 ci. 2nd Tuck Thomas Dekon Monza 350 CI 1st Cat 2 Bob Tullius Group 44 Jaguar XJS. Bob complained about twin heat rules, because fear of losing lead from 1st heat. Watched individual car standing start by Old Pagoda at Road America. Was amazing and ground shaking to watch Supervette blast off into woods back then at Road America. Heimrath single turbo Porsche 935 broke on 2nd lap and Pickett ran away and hid.

Judging from Greg Pickett in the No. 6 Corvette, it’s 1978. Great video!
