Dilla was some of the first music I listened to of my own choice, nothing like on the radio. He introduced me to hip hop, jazz, rnb, soul and to my truth in this world. I am forever grateful
According to Common, he would wake up, eat breakfast then head to the record store where he would spend hours, come back and make beats like these in probably about ten minutes. J Dilla had it down to science I think, while still making things feel non-programmed.
