My dad had one like that in the fifties. Had 6 or 7 Rover cars..................the last one a 3500. Lovly cars. But ever so expensive in The Netherlands.
@@rjkka7260 they are lovely cars and I bet they were expensive in The Netherlands as LHD weren’t that common. Expensive here in Australia as well as all were imported as complete cars from the UK.
Great video Paul! These extended driving videos are some of my favourite types of classic car videos, as they give a very real sense of what it’s like to experience driving such a car first hand. Love the Rover!

Great old car with the semaphore indicators. I suppose the aftermarket round amber lamps at the rear had to be fitted to comply with local laws? They don't look bad, but mounting them more discreetly under the rear bumper would have looked a bit better. Still, probably not worth messing about with them now after all those years.
The trafficators are no longer connected but I may try to get them functioning again. My ‘53 Vauxhall Velox has blinkers and trafficators. The law, in NSW, doesn’t require anything more than the car was fitted with from new. However, I prefer to add blinkers and brake lights as modern drivers aren’t used to hand signals etc. Once you add these safety items then they must comply with current laws. I have fitted blinkers and brake lights to my ‘27 Model T Ford as well.
Hello from UK great looking car mate..looks like an early 90 P4 with the steeply sloping boot and small rear window. Question. Was the car exported to Australia from new or did it start life in England ? Have a great day mate 👍
Nice old P4!, back in the mid-sixties Dad had a '55 90 with the 3-piece wrap around rear window and big boot. She was bought for the princely sum of £25, due to a blowing exhaust and a chronic misfire due to a couple of plug leads getting mixed up in the tube they pass through between the dizzy and the plugs. Dad soon sussed this out and sorted it. I see you've got the original factory radio (HMV?) which is well cool. If you drive it with the freewheel engaged do it on a nice straight piece of road, it can be a tad disconcerting approaching a bend, backing off on the throttle and picking up speed, don't ask me how I know! @@paulscountrygarage9180 my dad had a building business and in 1962 or '63 bought a Rover 3 litre and for the same price he built a complete house !!!

Do like those early ones the best- sloping boot and recessed lights. Newer ones headlights look more stuck on!

Thanks for that. Yes, she is a 1954 which was the last of the sloped back. She was sold new in Australia. Rover were a popular high class car here.
we had a black 75 with freewheel which I drove down to local model boating pond in private park, aged around 7 :)
Hopefully you only drove it to the pond and not into it. 😜

Thank you. My radio works but I don’t actually turn it on as you can’t pick up much in my area. I do plan to try the freewheel.
