Errol Morris barely acknowledges the interviewer has any valid opinions and just blankly stares at him. This seems to create discomfiture in the poor man. It seemed mean or more likely Morris is too self absorbed.
It's just called thinking. The expected reaction isn't always the reaction given, and that often makes people uncomfortable. If you're inquisitive by nature, often times you're too busy dissecting the question or statement to respond with an instinctual reaction the speaker may be expecting. Some people are just like that, and I think he is.
