I was in bulgaria for3 months and am moving back shortly.. started looking for a vehicle there and they have an odd natural gas system they are putting in alot of the vehicles because gas is fairly expensive there. ive seen them on diesels and normal gasoline vehicles. supposidely it really helps with gas mileage and the engines can run on it... ever heard of that scotty?? its new to me but makes me wonder if its an option in the states thatd let us keep our bigger engines. can run on normal gas or the natural gas.

Thanks Scotty-we purchased a 2024 4Runner pro at the end of October 2024 and we love it. Going to change the oil at 1000 miles coming up then at 5k and every 5k thereafter-Thanks
Got the same model in May. Changed the oil at 1k (dealership gave me the 10k lecture hoo-haw), and plan on next one at 5k. Wanted to get the last of the great 4-Runners. Knew what was coming.
I have two Lexus GX 470s in my family. A 2005 and a 2007. One with 250,000 and one with 170,000 miles. A V8 engine and bullet proof reliability. Gas mileage is not great but I just filled up at Costco for $2.62 a gallon. So onward and upward. Keep up the good work Scotty
2008 Toyota Tacoma extended cab 2 Wheel drive four-cylinder. Super slow, no pick up, terrible gas mileage, I only get 17 or 18 in town. I’ll keep it, thank you very much, before I buy a new one!
I have one in a 2018 Honda Accord EXL. It’s the 2.0 turbo and so far so good at 65k miles. I miss the V6 but the car manufacturers try to be compliant with the EPA standards for fuel and pollution by going with smaller engines. I like it more than I thought it would. It’s pretty quick and good fuel mileage.
People complain to much about the way things used to be. I’m just happy I have a car at all. Yes my 2017 Corolla is dated but with low maintenance I’m perfectly happy with it. In Europe engines are as small at 2 cylinders.
Scotty....I don't think they have a leg to stand on! I'm sure a nice attitude will come forward for you. BTW just bought a 2024 Mazda CR50....thanks to you! THANK YOU! But damn I need to learn so much about my new car!!
I have a TRD 4 wheel drive Tacoma double cab and long bed. Bought new had 2 miles in 2014. Now has 33000 miles, garage kept and oil changed at 5000 miles or 6 months. Was thinking about selling but listening to you I should overlook the gas mileage and keep it. Thank you for your honesty..
There's not a single Toyota enthusiast who is happy about Toyota going to turbocharged, undersized engines in their 4x4 pickups and SUV's! If you look at sales numbers, Toyota sold about half as many Tacoma in 2024 as in 2023, Tundra is the same. Worst idea Toyota ever had, they wanted that government subsidy for fuel economy numbers and sh*t themselves in the foot!
I have a 2018 Hyundai Elantra SE bought it new. Have not had any problems with it. 52,000 miles and do my oil changes every 4000 to 5000 miles. If you take care of your car it will run good for you. I take my car out to be driven. It likes to be driven and sometimes it likes to be driven a little hard!!
A new American car company that could make reliable, attractive and relatively inexpensive vehicles would probably make a killing today. I wonder if any of the current manufacturers could retool and do something like that, rather than continuing to manufacture the expensive and unreliable vehicles that they are presently making.
Toyota lost a customer when they switched to a 4 cylinder turbo in the Highlander. The V6 (I have a 2015) is bulletproof. What's even more ridiculous is the 4 cylinder only gets 1 mpg better gas mileage.
My Gen 4 Tacoma is getting around 25 mpg. In my opinion, the new engine and transmission in the Gen 4 Tacomas are more powerful and lively. Plus, a more consistent power band. As for how long the power train last, only time will tell
Could not agree more with you on the downgrade to the Turbo 4 cyl. I've had many 4Runners and Tacomas over the years - excellent vehicles all. However, due to the engine mods, I have since switched over to Nissan. Bought the 2023 Titan with the 400hp V8 - what a ride! 18 MPG highway. Got my son a 2022 Frontier - V6. Noticed the other day Nissan is advertising their 2024 trucks with a 310 HP V6 (Frontier) and 400HP V8 (Titan) - direct smack upside the head to Toyota. I do believe the 2025 Titans are going to a V6... which is a shame, but still better than the Tundra V4 bi-turbo. I still have hope Toyota will return to it's former self and if so, I may return as a customer. But for now, I'm very happy with Nissan.
Same situation with the 1.5 liter turbocharged CRV, Just couldn't leave it Naturally Aspirated ❗Now You have to buy a Hybrid to end up with a 2 liter engine not OK.
Toyota no longer manufactures quality. Engine problems, transmission issues, and a company that no longer values their brand or customers. I have a Tacoma not even three years old with 19k miles. The paint is peeling off. Toyota will only spot paint affected areas even though the clear coat is defective on the entire truck and the rest of it will all eventually fall off. Toyota refuses to put any communication in writing regarding the issue they are trying to hide. Toyota feels they are too big to fail and do not need to provide customer service or honor warranties. They no longer stand behind their product. If you are looking for a vehicle, do your research. Toyota is no longer the best option. If you have an issue Toyota ignores regarding a vehicle you purchased, write to the NHSA, your state attorney, and the Federal Trade Commission. Toyota should be investigated for criminal breach of warranty and selling vehicles with known issues.
What i dont understand is when i hear that all these companies suggest replacing oil every 10000 miles in the states, but here in ontario canada all the shops suggest no more than 10000km. So isnt 10000km close to 5000miles like scotty suggests?
IIRC, that's because of averages. Canada is generally colder than the US, just because it sits farther north - so Canadian cars tend to need heavier oil (especially in winter. Makes the car easier to start), and heavier oil needs to be changed more frequently as it's more prone to building up carbon/sludge, especially in long, cold-start heavy winters. In most of the US, we can get away with 10k mile oil changes. But 10k km isn't really that far off. It's a little over 6000 mi, and that figure was likely chosen to be easier to remember, and in real-world, full-accuracy math, it's probably around 2/3, or 6700mi/10,782 km. WHen it comes to instructing the owners - which is the average owner going to remember? 10k or 10.782k?
They are following Ford in producing heavy vehicles with a complex four-cylinder engine. Anyone buying a truck or heavy vehicle expecting decent gas mileage is kidding themselves. The warranty claims must be killing Ford. I notice a trend of Japanese quality going down in the last couple of years.
I remember the old days when Scotty was supposedly paid by Toyota to say only good things. Contract must have ran out with the release of the new turbo line 😂
I’m thinking of buying a SUV high end like amYukon XL, Lincoln Navigator or a candidate Escalade between 2014-2019. In your open, which do you think would be a better vehicle of the 3?
Out of those three? Yukon. The Lincoln and Escalade are notoriously unreliable. The Yukon isn't much better - but the main difference in it and the Suburban is GMC badging and trim. The Suburban and Tahoe are, outside the trucks, GM's most reliable - with the exception of the Escalade. It has Caddy's traditional problem of being an electrical nightmare, especially if its used, Caddy's drivetrains are temperamental, and everything is Cadillac priced/Cadillac unnecessariy complicated to fix. The one exception is the EXT/glorified Avalanche, and those cut off...in 2012 or 2014, but are still some of GM's best modern work. The EXT is very similar to the Chevy, so maintenance is more straightforward and parts are cheaper (when they're not Caddy's features). The Escalade itself (and my god, the ESV) was more needlessly complicated and proprietary. The Nav is a glorified F150, and those are...well, they say Ford on the tailgate so you can remember which dealer you're pushing it to, when the engine suddenly decides to die with no warning. If you must buy domestic, and must buy luxury - Buick. They don't get the name recognition, their styling isn't all that great, but they're built very well, and their interior work and ride comfort are better than Caddy, on average. Caddy has more replaced Pontiac as the performance marque. Buick is more the daily luxury brand now. The Mercedes to Caddy's BMW.
With all the problems with recent Toyota's and some of the excuses they use to deny warranty, I'd only have any maintenance done at the dealer with dealer supplies to avoid excuses if they come up. At least until warranty is over. Those engines are way overpriced to replace yourself. I never had a dealer take car of any of my vehicles but things are different now. Much more complicated with design problems on the newer vehicles.
The oil recycle guys should have to split the profit they make selling that oil back into the refining stream with the person that supplies the raw material he's selling.😊😊
I’m getting 21.3 mpg with my 2016 LE runner . It will do even better with premium grade. Wish they would have left the 4.0 alone and added another gear or two to the tranny . I might buy a diesel Land Cruiser if they bring it over here . But no turbos for me .
I figure that the way things are going the next generation of the 4Runner will have a 1.0 liter twin turbo 3 cylinder with cylinder deactivation. It sounds stupid at first but it wouldn't shock me at all if it became a reality.
2:30 Toyota Oil Canisters and oil filter still not on top of the engine. I'll stick with my Subaru thanks ! Regular easy change oil filter on top of the engine. The only way to go !
As an owner of a turbo car (2022 Ford edge), I definitely agree. I basically had to get a new turbo on my car under warranty at 30,000 miles. Never making that mistake again!
@@huckleberrymulberry4764 Do you think the engineers and vehicle companies have the consumers in mind for the longevity of their products? All things nowadays are designed to fail at a given point and 0W oil is part of this. I use quality 5W 20 or 30 for winter and 10W 30 or 40 for summer all depending on the vehicle and the vehicles mileage. Use whatever you like in your own vehicle as it will never be a issue for me,
Scotty, you really need to change-out the low quality microphone you are using. Sounds like you're talking inside a 45 gallon barrel. But, still loving the videos. TKS.....
Does not apply. Toyota can sue for libel or slander. 1A applies to Congress not private business. Of course they have to prove their allegations in court.
Scotty, I have a 2011 legacy that stalls if you brake hard or in a panic stop. But will start right back up once you put it in natural or park like nothing ever happen. Any thoughts you can share would be great.
@@2flocks Is that on each wheel ? Sorry I know each wheel has one. But there isn`t a code, so best way to tell which one with out hitting it with the parts canon
at one point in heard scotty telling the audience that Tacomas are make in Mexico...He does not really like vehicles built in Mexico, nor does he like any turbo engines. So what are people going to purchase when it comes down buying brand new cars that are reliable

That’s why I stick to older Toyotas
What i dont understand is when i hear that all these companies suggest replacing oil every 10000 miles in the states, but here in ontario canada all the shops suggest no more than 10000km. So isnt 10000km close to 5000miles like scotty suggests?
10000 km = 6,210 miles. 12-11-24 W
I like this guy 🎉he’s going to teach anyone who doesn’t mess around with cars ✊🇦🇺
I’m thinking of buying a SUV high end like amYukon XL, Lincoln Navigator or a candidate Escalade between 2014-2019. In your open, which do you think would be a better vehicle of the 3?
Neither. All ripoffs.
Probably the’19. But do research. Those are nice rides.
Sorry about the spelling, should have proof read before posting
So what's the lawsuit about?!?
How do you process and edit your photos? Do you have any favorite filters? 🌺💚
Weird, attorneys don't try and sue anyone. They either file suit or they don't. Seems Scotty is confused
I might be mistaken, but when the v8 came out, it was a stop gap until the new v6 came out with more horsepower.
I have a 2013 with 38K miles with no issues.
The oil recycle guys should have to split the profit they make selling that oil back into the refining stream with the person that supplies the raw material he's selling.😊😊
My v6 rav4 is the best! Reliable and very speedy!!!
Always enjoy your new releases, thanks for the inspiration! 💞✨
I need help. I have a 2010 RV4 with a noisy engine. They recommended 0w-40 oil to quiet it down. What happens if I put that oil in?
That's why I would buy the older Toyota trucks
6:24 since when is a trany normal???
2:30 Toyota Oil Canisters and oil filter still not on top of the engine. I'll stick with my Subaru thanks ! Regular easy change oil filter on top of the engine. The only way to go !
He didn’t fill the oil filter I have for 55years . I think you’re moter will thank you in the long run.
The truth? Is that New Toyota is a different company, it is no longer the company with the "tried and true" motto. It is now the Japanese BMW.
Thanks for the info 😊
I have a 90s Chevy still going strong 💪
With the extra work to remove the shielding, to change the oil, what does a Toyota dealer, charge for a change?
Around $100
Toyota will eliminate engine oil dip sticks in the future.
Toyota is trying to sue the best Toyota salesman they've ever had? Say it ain't so Scotty!
No theyre not
Turbo motors are not reliable, whoever makes them. I had a 4liter FJ i put 250,000 miles on it. Never had any issues and no leaks.
As an owner of a turbo car (2022 Ford edge), I definitely agree. I basically had to get a new turbo on my car under warranty at 30,000 miles. Never making that mistake again!
@@benjigans1419the most reliable Fords today are the 2.5L hybrids (they are naturally aspirated lol)
I will never buy or use 0W any kind of oil. If someone gives me some I would use it in my pump oil can but nothing else.
Why not? Do you not trust the engineers or do you fear they base their oil viscosity specs exclusively on emissions?
@@huckleberrymulberry4764 Do you think the engineers and vehicle companies have the consumers in mind for the longevity of their products? All things nowadays are designed to fail at a given point and 0W oil is part of this. I use quality 5W 20 or 30 for winter and 10W 30 or 40 for summer all depending on the vehicle and the vehicles mileage. Use whatever you like in your own vehicle as it will never be a issue for me,
I love my 06 Tundra but I get 12mpg whether I’m towing 2000 pounds or 7000 pounds doesn’t matter, 12mpg either way.
Scotty, you really need to change-out the low quality microphone you are using. Sounds like you're talking inside a 45 gallon barrel. But, still loving the videos. TKS.....
Toyota ruined the new Forerunner!
If you want a V6 Forerunner, start looking before they go up in value.
Those big SUVs get worse gas mileage than a minivan
Prolly true, yet my ‘19 Frontier Pro4X (4.0 V6) gets 21 mpg highway, while my 2000 Tahoe (5.3 V8) gets 23 mpg highway.
Very green there for December...
Honda beats Toyota hands down!!!!
They stoped your check ?
Stopped
The drain and filter set up is perfect. CX-30 has same set up. Trap door with drain and filter right there. The filter is a "bear".
SCOTTY SHOULD ANYONE TELL YOU THAT THEY OR HE/SHE IS GOING TO SUE YOU 😮😅!! SAY FREEDOM OF SPEECH 1ST AMMENDMENT 😊🇺🇸😊🇺🇸!!!
Does not apply. Toyota can sue for libel or slander. 1A applies to Congress not private business. Of course they have to prove their allegations in court.
So glad I got Scotty’s noti’s on…
Wait till they put a twin in the corrolla
I don't know why automakers are obsessed with making turbo engines
it's cheap and won't last as long.
Toyota is trying to sue you for performing an oil change & maintenance?
they can’t sue you over their own stupidity and you speaking the truth they hurt themselves. Period
So that's the new way to check your tire pressure kick. Them??
Scotty, I have a 2011 legacy that stalls if you brake hard or in a panic stop. But will start right back up once you put it in natural or park like nothing ever happen. Any thoughts you can share would be great.
Wheel speed sensor
@@2flocks Is that on each wheel ? Sorry I know each wheel has one. But there isn`t a code, so best way to tell which one with out hitting it with the parts canon
@@chasf1066 probably not the wheel sensor after doing some research. Clean the MAF sensor. Might be a bad torque converter
@@2flocks Thanks I`m thinking torque converter. I already did MAF sensor and throttle body
@@chasf1066 did you check to see if yours has a recall for it ?
So why is Toyota suing Scotty???
If they don't f up you won't buy a new one🧐
Very interesting topic! Thank you for the great video! 🐱💞
Wouldn’t it be nice to take your used oil to be recycled and they give it back to you for pennies on the dollar
Your videos are always so entertaining and informative! Thank you for this! 💕😚
F Toyota, why does an oil change so difficult for simple folks
By 2030 trucks will have 1 cylinder with 4 peterbilt turbos 😂. 50,000$ exhaust and Boeing 747 dashboard 😂
Got my 2022 off road Premium 4Runner last year. Love it and plan to drive it for 10+ years. Just say no to turbo. lol
what about toyota filters are they ok?
2023 Toyota Tacoma SR5 4x4 V6. You're right about the gas consumption.
The best truck or car to last forever must have a manual transmission.
people nowadays would burn their clutches up.
I hate those filters! The first time I changed the oil on my RAV4, I was hot because I lost that little tool!😂😂😂😂😂
Why not ford put a 2.7 turbo in the 150 lol
Looks like the Marquis is going to need to run awhile. GREAT VIDEO!
They do nothing just keep tell us the truth.
Why the outlandish statements on being sued but not one word in the video about it. Lately all your heading are similar,,,what up with this.
at one point in heard scotty telling the audience that Tacomas are make in Mexico...He does not really like vehicles built in Mexico, nor does he like any turbo engines. So what are people going to purchase when it comes down buying brand new cars that are reliable
could live in that truck
Always appreciate your tool and scanner recommendations
They are doing it on purpose so you keep buying a new vehicle. More profit for them.
Bingo!
As brilliant as they are they are doing alot of stupid things right now.
Do not care
Turbos damage the engine faster due to the higher temperatures and pressures.
I bought a battery impact tool like it just love it.
