That was one of the better MREs back in basic training. Thank goodness it wasn’t the omelette.

I can safely say I've seen a man reach peak happiness in his life. My ROTC battalion was doing field training exercises at Camp Atterbury for a week. It was roughly 2 pm in the afternoon, and after being up since 0500, it raining and the high being 42 degrees, two combat scenarios and close to 12 miles total in rucking we were finally able to eat, I ended up getting cheese tortellini in tomato sauce, not a great one but not terrible either. A new, 25 year old cadet (his first taste of "military scenarios") got Chilli-Mac(the best MRE) and quite literally fell to his knees and started crying tears of joy. Since then I've never seen a man be so happy and thankful for something as minute yet so substantial as Menu 10. It's crazy what food can do when you're hungry.
side note I've never heated up any MRE before, usually never had time, but if someone could tell what the chilli-mac heated up tastes like I'd love to hear

If I can manage to get my hands on a Buffalo chicken MRE i will send it. Guys used to literally pay $50 out in the field just to have one if you were randomly given one its that good
YAAAAY elbow macaroni! Definitely one of the better MREs.
My favorite will probably remain the veggie crumbles. Kind of an unorthodox choice, but it’s always seemed to show up and pull me throw the worst parts of training.

I work for the Northern Lighthouse Board around the coasts of Scotland we have some pretty remote stations and on them are basically the same type of thing incase we get caught in storms and the chopper can’t get to us. Fortunately I’ve never had to use one because they don’t look the best

Kinda figured this one would have been a favorite while on deployment…..can’t remember if I have done the chilli Mac yet or not but something tells me I did, if it’s the one I’m thinking….yeah it was amazing
@LLOYD'S ASMR this one and usually the meat ones are ones that especially out un the desert you don't even need to cook them and they are still pretty good. The brisket one is also good

I still remember old army buddies I knew who would complain about MRE rations and how terrible they where, I mean I would be grateful no matter what for a free full meals every day that are compact and come with extra goodies, plus they arnt meant for your pleasure its meant tobe iffy, and then give you calories lol, but menu 12 is still one of the bests, tastes like chef boyardee to me lol.

Yoooooo, I like that one, not as much as the Mac n chili but it doesn't give me stomach issues. Well worth the trade. Also, anyone else ever end up with a collection of the napkins and wet wipes after coming back and have to struggle to toss them or leave them for just in case?
