I’m sooo happy that I bought both of mine through Dale Mathis!!! Dales re-do on the sounds are incredible!! I couldn’t begin to describe the difference between Dales sounds and the undesirable factory sounds. I was sooo happy with his sounds on my 1x that I also bought the 4x!!! Too amazing for words!!!

Lol. Aaahhhh.... that manual thing!! It was challenging at first until I decided it wasn’t going to get the best of me. One step at a time ALWAYS works!!!!👍✝️💟 I’m still learning and enjoying the process. Your classes are wonderful!! Much better than self teaching from a book. Now I’m wishing I had paid more attention in my college music theory class.

@@dalematthies I can’t believe how much I’ve learned from you!! It’s exciting. Not a day goes by that I don’t study music and enjoy every minute. I’m spending less time on theory now and more time learning how to play. I’m not giving up on the books and flash cards...they are just as enjoyable.
Ace lane....there’s always the 4x!! I kept my 1x too and love having it on hand due to back pain issues....one of my better decisions!!🤗 did I mention the 4x is amazing??!!
Many thanks for this video, while there's quite a few demo videos of the FR1X the ones that run through the sounds are very rushed and in foreign languages, I think this is the best and the first in English. It's also rare as most demos are played through an amp or recorded from the outputs, here you're hearing it as it is. Compared to my Chinese accoustic the sound quality is amazing and it's just as loud if you crank the volume up.
You're right about the manual, had to read it many times before I understood how it worked, you explain it perfectly. This is a great accordion and really light, goodbye to back ache. Loved all those boxes in the background, good to see business is going well, I hope Roland realise your efforts are selling their accordions all round the world.

The most informative videos are the ones with on-screen notes as to the programming shifts you are making - you're too quick/subtle with them! Blink and we missed it!
Steven.... Dale has a boatload of his videos out there for all of us to enjoy and learn from. I think I just punch in Dale Mathis accordion and that should take you anywhere you wanna be in his realm of accordion videos. I like to save a lot of them especially if they pertain to the 1x And the 4x.(that could change if I add the 8x!!🤗✝️💟)

Great video. Watching in Wales. Do those 'Dale Mathis' programmed sounds come on the fr1x if the accordion is bought somewhere else (like here in Wales!) Or is there a way of getting them afterwards? Many thanks.
Hi Dale, my FR1x changed itself to a button type Accordeon. Do you know how to solve this Problem? Must be fixed in Test Mode, but dont know how to do this. Firmware Update and Factory Reset no chance. Greetings from Germany :-)

I misspoke, there are 4 orchestra sounds on the piano side of the keyboard - for a total of 16 available.
I luv my 1x. Sometimes this 77 yr old just doesn’t feel like lifting the 4x even tho it’s only a few lbs heavier!!

Getting really excited about my 4x. I bought a nice big charger...no longer have to hunt for empty little chgrs that I’ve used for 1x....
Nice work and thanks for programming such a range of sounds. Had a question re. the player songs and if there is a way to add other songs through a Roland usb flash drive. Pretty unique that "Jim Dandy" is included. My old band, Tyrant actually opened up for Ruby Starr (RIP) that sang the refrain in that song.

@@dalematthies Essentially yes, was told previously that a Roland USB drive might be able to be used to hold extra backing tracks to by accessed through the AUD. feature.
@@guyleffel5674 The correct answer to your question is, No, more songs cannot be added to the Demo function on the Roland FR-1x. However, the 1x will play audio files (WAV files) from a USB memory stick. This function was included so players could use backing tracks. I have several examples of how this is done. My examples use the 4x and 8x models.

I was right!! I’ll always love my 1x. Ive had the 4x for a few months now and it’s always a pleasure to give the little guy a work out on scales. It’s sort of like a special friend. Maybe I should get another chihuahua??😂 I’ll have to ask Donna for her opinion.

If you are in the US, go to the Roland US web site and download the owner manual for the accordion. The button arrangements are explained in great detail.

I can’t remember the names of the pen drives you recommended!! I came across 2 in my desk drawer acuvar and PXH. One is 128 gigs and I think the other is probably the same. Shall I erase them or get new ones?? If so, I’ve already forgotten which ones you recommended.
2 GB will work, 4 GB will work, any larger than that and they may not work.

are those the straps that come with the fr-1x or an extra ?
The straps I used in this video are my $33 Amazon straps I use around the shop.

Would you please demonstrate (please don’t laugh at me) how to put the straps on the accordion?? I was so frustrated and literally in tears when I did my 1x!! 4x is coming soon😱 it took me 2 days!! They are different from the acoustic which was a simple matter of buckling them on.

Is 26 keys in the treble enough? or is there a possibility to switch to higher octaves if needed?
Twenty-six keys are restrictive for players with years of experience. Octave switching is available, but it is awkward.

I’ve heard you play hundreds of oldies but never a piece called “wonderland by night” I think it was popular in the 60’s or 70s in the mean time I’m gonna search a few sheet music stores.
I think Wonderland by Night was played originally on a trumpet.

I bought a roland fr-1x, I discovered some of the disadvantages for myself:
1. It is impossible to combine the sound of the left and right keyboard from different timbres, for example: lev. timbre 11 + right. timbre 34.
2. You cannot simultaneously (in Dual mode) start the BUILT-in accordion sound and the DOWNLOADED orchestral sound, for example: timbre 34 + [ORCHESTRA]-->U1, downloaded from a USB flash drive.
3. You can not remove the sound from the PHONE connector, so that the speakers do not turn off.
Makes no sense to me. I have zero disadvantages of my 1x or 4x.
Where is the middle C on this instrument?
It depends upon which register is selected. Bassoon reeds drop everything down one octave. Clarinet reeds play in standard pitch..
