The abundance of blessings from seeking istighfar is proved in the Quran. For example, in surah Nuh ayat 10-12 when prophet Nuh (عليه السلام) told his people to seek forgivness, It provides us the knowledge of benefits and goodness that come from seeking forgivness. -- فَقُلْتُ ٱسْتَغْفِرُوا۟ رَبَّكُمْ إِنَّهُۥ كَانَ غَفَّارًۭا [71:10] [71:10] saying, ‘Seek your Lord’s forgiveness, ˹for˺ He is truly Most Forgiving. [71:11] يُرْسِلِ ٱلسَّمَآءَ عَلَيْكُم مِّدْرَارًۭا [71:11] He will shower you with abundant rain, [71:12] وَيُمْدِدْكُم بِأَمْوَٰلٍۢ وَبَنِينَ وَيَجْعَل لَّكُمْ جَنَّـٰتٍۢ وَيَجْعَل لَّكُمْ أَنْهَـٰرًۭا [71:12] supply you with wealth and children, and give you gardens as well as rivers. -- *Imam Ahmed Bin Hanbal and The Baker:* The story of Imam Ahmed bin Hanbal who had 1.3million people attend his funeral because of his popularity and being beloved to the people was a renowned scholar and theologian of Islam, once found himself in a town during his old age. After performing the prayers, he intended to spend the night in the mosque's yard because he didn't know anyone in the town. With his humble nature, he had refrained from introducing himself, thinking that if he did, he would be welcomed by many people due to his fame. However, the caretaker of the mosque did not recognize Imam Ahmed and refused to let him stay in the mosque for the night. Despite his advanced age, Imam Ahmed was forcibly dragged out of the mosque by the caretaker. Witnessing this scene, a nearby baker was moved with compassion for the elderly man and offered to host him for the night. Imam Ahmed accepted the kind offer and stayed with the baker. During his stay, Imam Ahmed observed that the baker constantly recited istighfar, seeking forgiveness from Allah. Intrigued by this practice, Imam Ahmed inquired about its significance and whether it had any effect on the baker. The baker humbly replied that Allah had accepted all of his supplications and prayers, except for one. Imam Ahmed became curious and asked which particular dua (supplication) remained unanswered. With a humble and hopeful demeanor, the baker revealed that he had been asking Allah to grant him the privilege of meeting the famous scholar, Imam Ahmed bin Hanbal. Upon hearing this, Imam Ahmed smiled and informed the baker that Allah had not only answered his supplication but had brought him directly to the baker's doorstep. The baker was astonished and overjoyed to realize that the guest he had kindly hosted was none other than Imam Ahmed bin Hanbal himself. This story highlights the virtue of humility and the power of sincere supplication (dua) and seeking forgiveness (istighfar) in the sight of Allah. The significane of Imam Ahmed being dragged out of the house of Allah by his legs because of the baker's dua, illustrates that Allah, in His infinite wisdom, can bring about incredible circumstances and fulfill the heartfelt prayers of His devoted servants.
In the middle of the night, when I listen to this tasbibh, I feel like I am rediscovering myself with the light of my Rab! May Allah bless you, Shayek, your parents, your family members, and us all!
