People need to understand that the French and Russian interpretations of this variation are COMPLETELY DIFFERENT. So if you like Sylvie dancing, good for you, you prefer the French interpretation. But you can't go comparing the French interpretation to the Russian interpretation. The styles are different, the way they count the music is different, and the choreography is different. Nonetheless, both of them are extremely beautiful, and both Svetlana and Sylvie are beautiful dancers beyond words.
Nah, Giuliana. The one Sylvie performed was how Raymonda was always performed. Watch Plisetskaya perform Raymonda act III. Vikharev didn’t restore the original tempo. Yes, the original tempo, which was fast. Vikharev changed it because of how he was influenced by emphasizing head movements and arms but Raymonda was never this slow. Check your research before you let people “understand” what you’re trying to let them understand.
You all prolly dont give a shit but does anyone know a method to get back into an Instagram account?? I was dumb lost my password. I love any assistance you can give me
@Mustafa Zion i really appreciate your reply. I found the site thru google and Im trying it out atm. Takes a while so I will get back to you later with my results.
I'm not a great fan of Raymonda Ballet, but this Svetlana's variation is out of this world. Her expression, her end-posses, and her technique are overwhelming. Just perfect!!!!!!!
I think Zhakarova is lovely, but what I feel she nails here is the absolute clarity of the folk-inspired arms and the feet where she goes from, eg, lots of bourrees to a perfect 5th right on the music. Her phrasing and stylishness are just glorious (and I've seen this variation a lot---the musical cues are very difficult, so really have to praise the attentive conductor as well)
Guillem - Zakharova - WHO CARES. Both amazing. You're either going to like one or the other and they both do certain roles better than each other. Just enjoy watching.
Her stage presence is over the top,she owns it! I agree with comparing Prima's, a big no no! Svetlana is best I've ever seen in my lifetime and I'm turning 55 in June!
She's a goddess. I've seen many raymondas and i believe she's the most elegant. But, of course, it's my opinion. We can all think differently based on our own styles, you can't pretend all ballerinas dancing the same way, right? Me and my mom cried while watching her perfomance!
There are variations that are all about the dancer's ability to use their hands and express emotions with them. And this is one of them. For her very flexible and floaty arms(not only, of course) Svetlana is one of my favourites, altough I have to say I have seen her do better. But as usual, you can easily tell wich dancer comes from which school western or eastern, looking at the arm lines.
It's fun if it's a beanpole that has amazing feet, is graceful, strong, elegant, and pretty much perfect? What kind of comment is this. Svetlana is pretty much a GODDESS. Her long, hyper-extended legs are exquisite and her positions are basically flawless. Not to mention how beeauuutifulll her feet are! A pair that archy are no doubt a pain to strengthen and control. Don't call her a beanpole, please.
mme zakharova is such a perfect technically dancer, but if you compair this with the earlier variation of ludmilla semenyaka then, than you know why people like or dislike someone more, please look at semenyaka she is the best of the best!!the arms the bourrees and the gracieus look of a queen!respect!
This might not be her best fit, but Svetlana has undoubtedly the best technical skill. If you dance ballet and can find something to criticize her, seriously you need another teacher. If you don't dance ballet, you are not qualified to criticize. I can understand if you criticize a dancer because of their skill, but Svetlana's skill is flawless. If you want to criticize a dancer, go find Gillian Murphy who can't balance, lift her elbows or kept a tight fifth position.
And, if you have an appreciation for the art of ballet, you have an appreciation for the artistry and work ethic of all the great dancers. Arguing whether Monet is 'better' than Picasso, or Ravel is 'better' than Liszt is idiotic. Best to not spend so much time looking for faults - enjoy the beauty and inspiration at work in whatever you are watching.
What Sophistication and Aristocratism comes from her!Let's not forget also who is her personal Teacher for many years -Semenyaka - one of the most elegant Ballerinas of the 20th century!: ruclips.net/video/L8pmvZIcXfQ/видео.html
her elegance and grace are improbable. She is regal, she is a Goddess. Her beauty and its dance can worship as to the highest achievement in art of the ballet for all his isyoriya. Equal to her just isn't present.
Personally I don't like Zakharova, but that's just personal preference. Undoubtedly she has extraordinary skills and qualities and that's why she is where she's at.
Beautiful!! This is my solo variation, very excited, as a dancer I actually preferred the French interpretation (Sylvie Guillem)- but that's irrelevant. Nevertheless she's a stunning prima who danced this variation lovely!! Anyway, I'm actually interested to know when [in the ballet- act..?] this variation is?? Thank you :)
Just finished watching Guillem perform this variation, wow what a stark difference, Zakharova is one of my favorite ballerinas but she looks like a robot compared to Guillem.
+Thang Vuong If you think that Sveta is a " robot " you must know that the schools of ballet are different. Miss Guillem is or was a wonderful ballerina but is not russian. She learned in another school and, besides, she has spanish blood. For me Miss Guillem is just FANTASTIC dancing "The grand pas classic". And, if you allowed me, a sugestion: see Miss Natalia Makarova dancing this... Stay Well. Thank you.
maria engrácio Sylvie for me is Ballerina Assoluta but Zakharova is a wonderful dancer as well just doesn't have the timing, fire, necessary for this variation. Madame Makarova is my favorite "Dying Swan" of all time, her arms are a revelation.
+Thang Vuong SVETA is russian, from the russian school of ballet. Her mood is quiet different and her "epaulement" is different . I respect your opinion absolutly. Arriverdeci.
But Raymonda isn't supposed to be fiery or passionate. She's noble, confused and to some extent, frigid. As for Zakharova or Guillem i find them too different in their own styles to be compared. Guillem is fiery and so in synchro with the music. Sveta's port de bras and tiny head movements put any other ballerina to shame. None of them is Raymonda. I don't like this ballet (except for this variation), but to me Makarova was the best Raymonda, even if her interpretation was a little too impregnated by her femme fatale persona. Another extremely well-accomplished Raymonda is that danced by Novikova. She almost made me like this nonsense story of a ballet
The difference between Zakharova and Guillem is stark indeed, and I do not mean the difference between the Russian and the French schools. Zakharova possesses cantilena that Guillem lacks, calling Zakharova “robotic” is utterly ridiculuous; Guillem has a lot of character, very sharp legs. Both are outstanding in their own way. I am not completely satisfied with either interpretation. This is an incredibly challenging variation from both the technical and the interpretative point of view. A dancer is needed who would be able to imbue this piece with radiance and poetry besides possessing precision and purity of lines. Stepanova may be such a dancer. Her Raymonda is in the air.
@nicolezly If you didn't like her, that's your personal opinion but you know that you didn't have to watch this y'know? And by saying things like "she's a bit boring" you are insulting a great deal of people who like her (and I personally think she has plenty expression!) I am not starting an arguement here, just stating this for everyone :)
mainly, what I find missing here is the lush use of the upper torso, as so well exemplified in the two other Raymonda variation performers.....too dry for me......leaves my gut unmoved!
Guillem and Makarova. No one compares to them. Looking at Svetlana, it seems she could be dead. No signs of life whatsoever other than those mechanical moves.
Lizzy Ebb I guess you could just watch Guillem videos instead of writing a cruel comment about someone who probably worked extremely hard to dance this role.
I wonder- can you sew? because if not you better had never critisized any dress worn by anyone. you'll never be able to make it so there's no right of you to judge- Even if you find it hideous... so what's wrong with comparing those styles and preferring one over the other? And what's so bad about critism? I do agree that there's no need to be rude but why not voice an opinion? No one ever said they can't dance, but if you can't live with people not sharing your opinion, stop reading comments
Sorry but I really don't like French ballet cause they just fake it russian like svetlana (who really acts like a queen) perform it soooooo magical like they're not real seriously they live their acts and that's why russian are the best in ballet ! And svetlana is one of the most talented ballerina's in the world. That's my opinion and I don't want insulting other nationalities!
valeria korobeinikova SYLVIE GUILLEM LEAVES BALLET , IF SHE DO IT IS FOR A BIG REASON. NOW SHE'S PART FOR CONTEMPORARY BALLET, NOT FOR DANCE CLASSIC WORLD ANYMORE.
People need to understand that the French and Russian interpretations of this variation are COMPLETELY DIFFERENT. So if you like Sylvie dancing, good for you, you prefer the French interpretation. Nah Sylvie has ARTISTRY! AND EMBODIED THE PERFORMANCE. Svetlana is good but she's just a dancer not an artist like Sylvie
You all prolly dont give a shit but does anyone know a method to get back into an Instagram account??
I was dumb lost my password. I love any assistance you can give me
@Jaxen Julius Instablaster :)
@Mustafa Zion i really appreciate your reply. I found the site thru google and Im trying it out atm.

2nd best variation of raymonda I have seen.💖
I'm not a great fan of Raymonda Ballet, but this Svetlana's variation is out of this world. Her expression, her end-posses, and her technique are overwhelming. Just perfect!!!!!!!
Какие руки.. просто фантстика

Браво! Это самое лучшее исполнение ! Фантастика!❤
О нет, посмотрите исполнение Л.Семеняки!! Каждая хороша по-своему👍😊
Not a ballet expert, but even her small movements match the music. So hypnotizing to watch 😍
not expert???
really? art is ballet, i say ballet it's life
Stupenda interpretazione e la tecnica pulitissima. Bellezza incredibile.
The ultimate ballerina..... icy perfection. Cannot get tired of watching her. And she sticks the landing.
Просто Богиня.💐
👏👏👏👏👏👏👏

Пластика рук завораживает. Браво!
Svetlana is so elegant
I usually don't like this variation but she did it soooo well!!!
She's a goddess. I've seen many raymondas and i believe she's the most elegant. But, of course, it's my opinion. We can all think differently based on our own styles, you can't pretend all ballerinas dancing the same way, right?
Me and my mom cried while watching her perfomance!
Красота !
I'm so happy! I just found out that I'm doing this variation for my studios spring performance:D

That's right !
SVETA: lots of talent, lots of beauty and lots of "CHARME" .
Bellissima .elegantissima ..ma nessuno eguaglia Silvje Guillem...in Raimonda....
Zakharova isn’t my favourite but she’s magnificent in this.
Solo de ballet perfeito, linda, técnica e o mais importante ... sensível a peça que dança e com interpretação !

Truly perfect.

The best classic sublime command of the raymonda, hooray
she IS just amazing !
Beautiful 😍😍😍

wow you are basically en pointe for this whole variation. wow
she is amazing
wonderful !

Pierre Visser this is really late but it's act 3 variation 4
Amazing!!!
sublime!
Sublime !
Perfect!
Сокровище Русского балета !!!!❤
Sem comentários, maravilhosa!
Lovely!
Bravo!

I checked out Uliana in Swan Lake,Wow! and thanks for reply, now I'm going to check out Novikova, stay tuned...
Bravissima Sveta!!!!
it's a character variation there isn't a lot of technique it's more expressive and it's from rayamonda ballet :)
👏👏👏👏👏🌹🌹🌹🙂💞
Wow
Awesome...
I don’t know anything but I’m sincerely amazed and I wanna ask is this Balanchine’s work ?
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!❤❤❤❤❤
Sehr gut, Sveta!!!!!!! Ich liebe dich
I'm s speechless
Does this variation have a specific name, like the pas de chale, or Jumping Girl in Paquita?
why does she put her hand on her head and clap her hands throughout this piece? also, what ballet is this from?
Perfetta
Susanna Quirinali
Semangat y dek...
@nicolezly If you didn't like her, that's your personal opinion but you know that you didn't have to watch this y'know? And by saying things like "she's a bit boring" you are insulting a great deal of people who like her (and I personally think she has plenty expression!)
I am not starting an arguement here, just stating this for everyone :)
Anyone knows the name of the piano arrangement ?
Does anyone know what act this is from and what number variation?
I am almost sure this quality of dancing would prevent many of us from committing suicide.
Sylvie is much more fluid in this piece.
I agree!
There is no Prima better than Svetlana, she is in a class by herself, the Best!
I don't know...something about her interpretation doesn't seem to fit right... I prefer Lopatkina's by far...
mainly, what I find missing here is the lush use of the upper torso, as so well exemplified in the two other Raymonda variation performers.....too dry for me......leaves my gut unmoved!
Почему качество только 240? Вы издеваетесь!
I can't watch this because the aspect is off, always making Zakharova look like a scarecrow. True body proportions never showing
Guillem and Makarova. No one compares to them. Looking at Svetlana, it seems she could be dead. No signs of life whatsoever other than those mechanical moves.
Lizzy Ebb if you likes makarova, see her videos. IN MY OPINION, I DONT LIKE HER ART
Are seriously implying that emotionless Guillem is better than Svetlana?!?
Lizzy Ebb I guess you could just watch Guillem videos instead of writing a cruel comment about someone who probably worked extremely hard to dance this role.
Merrielle Gatlin Are you seriously claiming that Guillem is emotionless???????!!??
gorgeous and beautiful legs!!
Yeah.. Great ballerina but what a difference with Sylvie !
tres belle danseuse, mais la version de sylvie est meilleure et aussi plus difficile techniquement....
nadie sabe que trabajos es eso
Efectivamente!
Sorry but I really don't like French ballet cause they just fake it russian like svetlana (who really acts like a queen) perform it soooooo magical like they're not real seriously they live their acts and that's why russian are the best in ballet ! And svetlana is one of the most talented ballerina's in the world.

I'm sorry I really didn't like that interpretation
運動するとおなかすくよねそしたら牛丼特盛😍
no zakharova! yes Silvie Guillem!
valeria korobeinikova SYLVIE GUILLEM LEAVES BALLET , IF SHE DO IT IS FOR A BIG REASON. NOW SHE'S PART FOR CONTEMPORARY BALLET, NOT FOR DANCE CLASSIC WORLD ANYMORE.
No.. Sylvia will never top svetlana!!!!!!!! There is no comparison. At least Svetlana has some emotion while dancing!!
Can't we just like both of the amazing dancers?
It's not fun watching a beanpole dance
Emily shut up LOSER
