Love these tones. The Placater is absolutely one of the best amps in the Helix. Thank you for continuing to release such helpful videos! I look forward to more.
Thank you so much. I have learned so much about this awesome tool. I have a few presets from you that I tweaked and use as my main sound. Thank you for all the videos.
I was afraid that, after you had gone through most of the new 3.5 update stuff, that you might take a little "Helix hiatus," but I'm very glad to see that is not the case. Your videos are very informative and have helped me in tailoring my own sounds on my own patches, as well.
I'd say the problem is even earlier in the chain - the cab. A high gain amp like that doesn't pair that nicely with Greenbacks in my opinion, an Uberkab with V30s would supply the clarity and upper-mids brightness this setup lacks (without the rather extensive post-processing section) and could be miked with a single 121 no problem (tho a 57 or 906 paired with a ribbon mic would sound even better)
No. I use ribbons for very specific reasons. Everything you guys describe here as a solution I very purposefully avoid because I do not like the sound of it. Ribbon mics with some eq after is a very common thing. But as always everyone should do what works for them.
Jason appreciate the zoomed in full sized widow on the app/efx settings. Makes it much easier to read. Keep it up.

So glad you enjoyed! I totally agree about the Placater...many more videos to come 😀

My pleasure and so glad to hear you enjoy what I do 😀 🙏🏻

It's one of my go-to amps in my Helix!
I like how it pairs with the Uberkabs (singles and duals) and with Kohle's DV-77 IR. The Horizon Drive also works great with this amp.
Use a different mic and maybe you don't need the eq's to make it sound right.
This 121 alone sounds too muddy for me.

Maybe. V30s sound tighter and more defined in the lower mids.

I wonder if Helix has DV77s, a v30 mix with those are my favorite

I meant not ribbons in general.
My main mic is the 160 . I like it more than the 121
