So glad to hear Pastor Carter give the proper interpretation of that verse (Rev. 3:20)which has been so misused, falsely interpreted and misapplied by Christians over the years, even by pastors. Yes, the verse is to the Church, not to the unbelievers. Christ is on the outside of most churches in America, knocking.
Thank you David. I've encountered so many deplorable churches. One Lutheran church had a female pastor who told me she does not believe in a literal Hell, nor in baptism. I wonder what she thinks Christ died for then! Another church (Assembly of God) decided they needed to have a TV blaring loudly in the foyer, to convince people to come to their church! Along with lots of other ENTERTAINMENTS to draw in people because the pastor is so consumed with church NUMBERS and competes with other churches; he knows the size of every congregation he competes with. Another one became a Heavy Metal "music" church to attract people. And so on. Apparently none of these people/places believe the Word of God to be enough, and clearly the Holy Ghost and His power is not there.
WindWipper I was thinking that myself. Not wanting to compare spiritual with political, but it seems as though people have lost their mind sometimes. It's like they see but can not comprehend. I have prayed that God not let me be deceived by any means. You have to love the Truth or you will believe a lie. It is hard not to get caught up in the spirit of this age.

David, what is it you mean by "bogged down in church doctrine"? The New Testament emphasizes the importance of correct doctrine at least 4-5 times, in it's pages. I did a word search of the word "doctrine" in BlueLetterBible.org and it came up with SO many verses emphasizing doctrine that i could not list them here. Dozens! Correct doctrine is critical to not falling into heresy.

pastors do not want to speak about the message of repentance...they lead people to believe that it is grace that keeps you clean once you receive salvation not understanding that they must die daily...also prophetic messages has become more luring like a red apple than truth and balances...scales...they are prophesying about blessings that God has for us but not about the woes, the warnings that God has for us when we disobey...they are afraid to preach hell,
